Getting Started
- Install the mod

Once the mod is installed, we can begin learning how to play the game. Go to moviebattles.org to download the mod.

- Setting everything up!

Now that you can open the game, you'll need to bind a few keys on your own. Make sure options like "class config" and "class special" are bound, along with meditate, bow, and other gestures that are useful in the game.

You'll also want to mess with your visual settings as well, but for the sake of this guide, we'll skip that, and let you do that on your own.

- Gamemodes
There are two popular game modes to choose from in this game. Open and Duel. In Open you can play as any class, and must complete a certain objective while trying to stay alive and kill the other team. But be careful, because if you don't have the reinforcement ability (usable by Soldier, Elite Soldiers, and Troopers) then you'll only have one life!

The other gamemode is called duel. In this gamemode, you can only play as a Jedi/Sith. There is no "team killing" so it doesn't matter if someone you want to fight is on your team. Have fun, and challenge someone to a duel by pulling out your saber and blocking in front of them. You have more than one life in this gamemode, so go out there and challenge some people. This gamemode is very dificult for beginers however.

- Joining the game
After making your selection and joining a server you'll notice one strange thing... You're not in the game! To join the game, press [esc] and select "join". You'll be prompted with two options. They have different names depending on the map you're playing on, but one of them contain the Light side aligned classes, and the other contains the Dark side aligned classes.
Choosing a class
There are quite a few classes to choose from in moviebattles.

Push the button you previously bound to "Class Config" to choose a class once you've joined a team!

- Soldier
- Elite Soldier
- Hero
- Wookie
- Clone Trooper
- Arc Trooper
- Jedi
- Commander
- Bounty Hunter
- Mandalorian
- Super Battle Droid
- Droideka

Classes on one side parallel a class on the opposite side. This is most obvious with the two side's "soldier class" which is almsot a carbon copy. Sith and Jedi are also quite similar, yet have access to some different abilities. Bounty Hunters and Hero's both possess powerful sniper rifles. Mandalorians and Arc Troopers are both fast, verticle fighters with the Mando's Jetpack, and The Arc's Dexterity ability, allowing for some of the best maneuverability in the game. SBD and Wookies are both moving tanks, while Droideka's are just walking turrets.

Choosing a class can be very difficult in the beginning. I reccomend trying out Mandos, Arc, and lightsaber wielders. The former two will allow you to familiarize yourself with the gunplay of the game, while adding in some nice features, like dexterity, dual pistols, jetpacks, etc. and the latter will help you with your dueling! (more on that later)

Each class has a large selections of Skins to choose from as well.

Once you've chosen a class, press your "class configuration" button in order to set up your stats.

- Setting up your class

Setting up your class can also be a challenge in the beginning. Luckily, each ability/perk is briefly described at the bottom of the menu. However this isn't much to go on. I reccomend going on a single-player server (go to create instead of join in the main menu) and make sure you MB points are set to a high number (a bunch of 9's). Now you can try out any class, and any class configuration!

- Left click to add points
- Right click to take points away
- Make sure you save the presets you want on the right side!

Dueling - Basics
- Dueling is difficult

In order to Duel in MB2, you're going to need to know a few gameplay mechanics. The first is the BP bar. This is a bar used by the Jedi/Sith in order to block incoming saber attacks. The bar's strength is dictated by the amount of points you have in Saber Defence. I reccomend maxing this out for Duel mode. The BP bar allows you to block incoming attacks, attack, jump, etc., but it will not stop you from jumping and attacking. This means you can attack all you want, but if your bar runs out, the next attack that hits you, will not be blocked. In order to regenerate this bar, you must be walking, or standing still. This leads me into my next topic.

The BP bar is shown as a red bar on the bottom right side of the screen, and a larger bar on the right side if you have "draw old class bar" enabled. (reccomended)

- Walking

Walk. A lot. During a duel, do not be running, or jumping more than necessary. This will cause your BP bar not to regenerate, which means almost gaurunteed death.

- Saber Styles

There are a few different saber styles to choose from. You may be familiar with Blue, Yellow, Red, Dual sabers, and Double-bladed sabers from the base game. However there are two new saber styles introduced into MB2. Cyan, and Purple.

Blue- Haven't used it much, but it's the OG fast style. Seems to play rather defensively, while being fast enough to get a decent hit in.

Yellow- A jack of all trades. Has good damage, and good swing speed, while having fairly easy combo's. Considered by all NOT to be broken, unlike some other styles in different game versions.

Red- The OG heavy. Hard to get a combo with, but if you can without getting slapped away, or PB'd (more on that later) then you can do a lot of BP damage to someone. It also allows you to 1-hit a wookie with max health!

Cyan- The new fast style. (well... not new... but...) Cyan is fast, spammy, and looks pretty elegant. Has low damage, but is great at parrying an enemy as they're trying to attack.

Purple- Honestly don't know much about it. It's slow (or well it's supposed to be, but damn) and does a lot of damage.

DISCLAIMER: I do not use staff or duals much, so I don't have much to say about them. Ask someone in-game using them for their opinion. You might just like it.

The styles are chosen through the character menu by choosing:

Blue: Light 1
Yellow: Medium 1
Red: Heavy 1
Cyan: Light 2
Purple: Heavy 2
Blue and Cyan: Light 3
Red and Purple: Heavy 3
Staff/Duals: Medium 2
Staff/Duals and Yellow: Medium 3

You can also customize your lightsaber by choosing the lightsaber button while in the character menu!

The actual art of dueling is quite difficult. Remember to walk, and block, and try to learn your combos. I'm not the best duelist, and I'm not the best teacher. Practice and learn your combos. You'll eventually find a style that suits you best.

The "class special" buttons are very helpful here. Class special 1 will throw your lightsaber in an arc formation (much different than base game) and Class special 2 will "slap" your opponent away. Use this when you opponent is mid-combo or not blocking in order to slap him onto the ground. This will give you time to recover or attack. If you choose to attack, Swing-Block (self explanatory) or crouch while attacking. The enemy will most likely attempt to jump back up at you which can easily knock YOU down if you aren't blocking or crouching.

Remember these tips and get on in there!
Coming Soon
I plan on improving this guide with much more content. There are so many things in this game I want to talk about, but screenshot managment, plus having the right oppertunity to take one, is pretty dificult. In the future I plan on talking about class abilities, and even open strategy.

I wouldn't recommend trying it. I have no idea if you can Frankenstein together a working config, but its not officially supported at all.

You're making literally no sense, man. Articulate your issue and I may be able to help. Nothing in this guide has anything to do with a steam deck.

No fucking clue. Don’t have one. I wouldn’t touch this game with a game pad though, so I don’t recommend it.

CricketChris, Moviebattles 2 is a completely different mod that serves a completely different purpose. It's a team-based multiplayer conversion. Movie duels is a single player experience. They both play completely differently as well.
