Mass effect 1 dlc issue
The issue most players have today is trying to get the mass effect dlc for the original game nowadays due to being over 10 years old and a bit outdated. Now EA has finally given everyone on pc a way to get their old dlc since before mass effect s and dragon age 3.
Download and install
Just go to https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/dragon-age/dragon-age-origins/bioware-classics-dlc/ and scroll down to the Mass effect section. When prompted enter in the key provided by EA.

Now you can enjoy the original DLC for the first Mass effect game.

the problem with installing the DLCs now is that EA removed everyone's Steam keys back in January 2021... the official story is that there was some sort of mass exploit going on at the time and the keys needed to be removed for a security precaution... personally I think that this is B.S. and that they didn't want the Steam version to have something ('Pinnacle Station') that the then upcoming 'Legendary Edition' didn't...

anyhow, there is a workaround... but you need your Steam key (yeah, the one that they removed!) to access the DLCs now... I was able to get mine from Steam Support shortly after the mass removal but apparently others haven't had as much luck as me... you can also try Origin Support but not only do you need your Steam Receipt but the original email notification as well!...

Anyone solved this? I can't seem to get it to work to install these DLC's on my Steam copy of the game. The installer starts and always fails, takes a second or so then Fail and only option is click FINISH and it closes down. I tried to unpack the Archive and tried to figure out where all the files were suppose to be, but doesn't seem to work doing it this way either.

I'm sorry, but you basically said the same confusing thing once, if you're gonna be so vague in your descriptions could you at least make a video guide? I can barely use excel and word or office whatever they're calling it now.

For those who are experiencing the failure error when installing, do this: Set the ME1 CD key under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Bring Down the Sky\ergc or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Mass Effect (tm)\ergc and also under C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect\installscript, changing the %CDKEY% for the universal key.

Sometimes you have to run the configurator first then open the game to the menu before it detects the dlc

My game is on Steam, purchased in 2010. I'm trying to get the DLC (2) that I missed out on. I've downloaded from the link provided here (top of this page), but when I try to install either DLC I get a prompt that my game isn't found, and to re-download it. The thing is, my game is FINE. It's right there. The exe files for the DLC are right there. What am I missing?

There seems to be a routing issue for the BDtS (and Pinnacle Station) DLCs. After some searching I came across this reddit thread and were able to download the dlcs using D2MoonUnits new link.

BDtS: http://static.cdn.ea.com/bioware/u/f/eagames/bioware/masseffect/dlc/MassEffect_BDtS_EFIGS.exe
