[EA] Gauntlet, Forge & Draft - Small Guide
By Narsiph
If you're looking for a quick starter guide on the three current Draft-Like/Type modes, this guide will be rather usefull. Keep in mind that this is from my perspective. Everyone can have different forms of luck and can be good with other types of deck. Also, everything in here is based on my personal opinion which can be very different to yours.

Should you listen to me? - Foreword
Hey!

I am Narsiph - a friendly guy that loves card games since i was a kid. Oh boy, i played as much TCG's, CCG's and simple Card-Games as i could. All started with Magic the Gathering in the very early 90's. Back in those days we just had the 1st and 2cnd Edition.

I played, also in tournaments, a lot of Card Games. Here a few picks:
- Magic the Gathering (Over 12 Years)
- Yu Gi Oh! (Over 6 Years)
- Warcraft the TCG (~3 Years. It died too quickly here where i live. Sadly.)
- Pokemon (~1 Year)
- Hearthstone (~2 Years)

My most favorite thing? Sorting cards and building theme-decks. I am also able to build extreme good tournament decks and also won some tournaments i participated in. My strategical and tactical knowledge is extreme high and that gives me a good understanding in most card games from the very first second.

Building decks is fun, believe me! Winkwinkwigglewiggle!

So, i have around 15 years of experience and i am happy to share my knowledge with you if you like. You dont have to listen to me, but i am sure i can give you a couple tricks that i still have up my sleeve.

My progress in Eternal is currently this:
First Set is 79% complete
95% Common Cards
95% Uncommon Cards
66% Rare
21% Legendary

So, there is some room more, right? Would you only listen to me when i have completed everything on 100%? Your choice. I dont win or loose anything if you only care for numbers or not.

If you have questions, just ask them and i try to answer you as good as possible.
Part #01 - The Gauntlet Basics
Great you're here! Really.

That means you're interested in the mode called 'Gauntlet'. This is a Mode where you can play with any form of Deck you build against 6 normal enemies and one final boss. While the normal enemies have just normal Decks (Some good, some not so good - AI is not very clever with its targeting priorities) but the final Boss has a addition.

The 'Gauntlet' is a mode that you can play for free, is good for training purpose and getting a little Pocket-Money. A Rank-Up in 'Gauntlet' has no other effect (yet) but making the enemy decks a little stronger with better cards as far as my friend and me know.

A effect. Those are the effects the final boss can have (Which i discovered so far)
- Draw one extra card per turn
- Start with "Paladin Oathbook" - Relic while the Boss has 50 Life (You still have 25)
- Play a random Weapon on a summoned Minion
- Every Minion does double damage
- When you play a Spell, summon a random Minion with the same cost as the played spell
- When you have no card left in your hand, draw 7 cards
- When you draw a unit, it gets an additional random effect. (Edit by ChannelNova, thx)
- Everyone starts with 5 Influence of every Color
- Infiltration works unlimited times (Thx @Noxxer2016)
- All units have charge

If there are more effects on bosses i will edit my guide, of course.

If you loose one time your run is over and you can claim, if any claims are possible, your chests. Here are the Chests you will get after certain wins:
1 Win - Nothing
2 Wins - +1 Bronze Chest
3 Wins - +1 Bronze Chest
4 Wins - +1 Bronze Chest
5 Wins - 1 Bronze Chest is transformed into a Silver Chest
6 Wins - Another Bronze Chest is transformed into a Silver chest
7 Wins - The last Bronze Chest is transformed into a Rank-Up Chest

A Bronze Chest contains a little Pocket-Money (~50 Gold) and 1 random Card
A Silver Chest has a bit more Money in it and gives a random Card
A Gold Chest has a Booster in it and some Money
A Diamond Chest has 2 Booster in it and a good portion of Money
A Rank Up Chest gives you a Rank-Up (Forge & Gauntlet), has 2 Boosters and some Money in it

Beside the Rank-Up-, and Diamond-Chest, every Chest has the opportunity to transform into the next better Chest by opening. I went once from Bronze to Diamond-Chest.
Part #02 - Gauntlet & Your Deck
Still here? Great!

Now you expect me to tell you which is the best Deck for Gauntlet to 'farm', right? Wrong! There is no 'best' Deck. One thing we could all aggree is that the enemy-AI is a little bit dull when it comes to targeting, decision-making and such things. But from that point on? Even the Campaign-Theme-Decks have a chance to get through 'Gauntlet'

But well, i would not be a good guide writer when i dont give you at least a little hint which Decks are best for Gauntlet, right? But before you get that cookie i tell you which decks you face - and believe me - some of those are extremely annoying.

Some of the Decks you will find in the 'Gauntlet'

"Elemental Mastery"
Color(s): Primal, Time & Fire
Oh boy, i tell you, she is annoying! Hell of annoying! She combines those three colors in a broad variety of damage spells, warcry units and big hitters. She kills attachements, stuns and gets you down quickly if you cant block the warcries. Beside of that. if she draws mediocre she will run out of steam pretty early.

"Rebel Forces"
Color(s): Fire & Justice
Do you like "Warcry"? Because this handsome fella plays a lot of warcry creatures (Warcry buffs the next creature/weapon in your deck with +1/+1). If you can block him in the early game (or enemy draws bad) you can pretty much win very quickly. Watch out for those 'Finest Hours' Buffs. +3/+3 for one turn (Fast Spell) kann kick your units arse easily.

"The Great Armory"
Color(s): Justice & Fire
This guy loves his weapons and strengthes them. It is a good plan - but most of the time this poor fella looses cause he runs out of steam extreme quick when you can ged rid of his weapons easily.

"Ancient Power"
Color(s): Time & Justice
Plays mostly around the "Awakened Student" which is a 2/2 Creature for 2 (Needs 1 Yellow & 1 Green).Followed by "Civic Peacekeeper" which stuns a enemy unit when a Sigil (Power Card) is played. He can generate Sigils very easily and has a lot of different methods to do so. Once you can get out in early game you probably have won.

"Merciless Stonescar"
Color(s): Shadow & Fire
Plays some form of 'I buff my minions so wrong that you have to be very dumb to loose against me'-Deck. Dont get me wrong: If you cant block his creatures then youre most likely to loose. But dont worry, the ai makes bad decisions. You barely can loose against this deck.

"Divided Loyalties" (Spelling Error?)
Color(s): All (Fire, Time, Justice, Primal & Shadow)
If theres something strange, in the neighborhood. Who you call? Not the ghostbusters. Nope. The problem with the Stranger-Deck is, if you let them be and dont do anything (You cant or whatever reason) they gonna overwhelm you quickly. Else? You win - easy.

"Apex Predators"
Color(s): Time & Shadow
It can be a easy win or a easy loose. Depending on the deck you're playing. 'Apex Predators' plays rather big creatures, some with special effects like 'Deadly' or 'Ambush' and so on.

"Chaotic Rage"
Color(s) Red & Violett
Kind of control & aggro-deck. Sadly i never saw it running smoothly. Except some direct damage spells eventually.

"Skycrag Sorcery"
Color(s): Fire & Primal
Flying, Spells, Stun, direct damage. Yeah, this icecold lady can be a pain in the ass. But she runs out of steam extremely fast if she doesnt draw card-draw cards.

"The Strangers"
Color(s): All
Most of the time this AI draws ridicolously good. If you see lots of 'Stranger'-Creatures on the field in the early game's phase you're most likely to loose. Get rid of those Units asap.

You see that there are many different decks for the AI, some are extremely strong, some are extremely weak. Most are rather mediocre. When you rank up in 'Gauntlet' the AI's decks get better cards.

The decks that do best in 'Gauntlet' out of my opinion:
- Warcry with [relic]-weapons (Fire & Justice)
- Control Deck (Primal & Shadow)
- Entomb-Deck (Shadow)
- Defense-Control (Time)

In the next section we talk about the 'Forge'
Part #03 - The Forge & You
Oh, you're still here? Great!

The 'Forge' isnt a place where you forge weapons, armor or stuff. The 'Forge' is a AI-Draft-Mode which costs 2500 Gold or 250 Diamonds to enter. You must face 7 AI-Decks with your 25-Card Deck. If you loose 2 times, its over.

"Its over man, game over!"
- Hicks, Aliens

But now fasten your seat-belt cause i give you a crash-course in how to pick cards. It is different as in 'Draft' (PvP) and 'Constructed'-Play (Your own build 75 to xxxxx Card Deck):

Rule #01:
Things that can trade efficient. A unit that has a 3/3 Body with costs of 3 Mana is good. A unit that has 1/3 Warcry for 3 Mana is most likely not good. Dont expect to draw a lot of specific cards you want or like.

Rule #02:
Card Draw. Like in normal Draft & Forge-Draft you should have at least 2 Cards that will definitively draw you more. If you dry out too quickly and are forced to top-deck you will face your doom rather quickly

Rule #03:
AI doesnt draft. At least i think that. They play pretty much contructed decks. Kinda unfair? Nope, they play also with just 25 Cards (plus Sigils).

Rule #04
Sadly i cant give you an in-depht look into all the cards that exist in Eternal but i can asure you, that you should not draft 'Situational'-Cards. Those cards are stuff like "Predator's Instinct' which gives a unit Killer. Can be good, can be crap. Situational.

A non situational card would be "Devouring Shadow" which gives a Unit -1/-1 for each of your 'Shadow'-Influence. That card always gets ♥♥♥♥ done, while "Predator's Instinct' doesn't.

Well, how does the Forge work?

Very easy. You can pick 1 card from 3 for 25 times. You can and will most likely play 2 colored decks. If youre lucky and only play a 1 colored deck AND having good cards... Uhm, yeah, call me. Its very unlikely. But yeah, statistics and me - never got friends.

If you're done with picking your cards you can jump into the fun of playing against AI. And believe me, if youre good at forge-drafting you're most likely to get at least 5 wins. Get those booster-packs going, sweetheart!

Pro's & Cons of the Factions in Forge-Draft

Fire (Rating: 4 of 5)
Pro: Lots of cheap spells, warcry, direct damage and awesome weapons.
Con: Nearly no card-draw beside of some situational ones.
MBAC: Infernus (Rare)

Time (Rating: 5 of 5)
Pro: Lots of good creatures that give you sigils, power, buffs, mass-buffs and big creatures.
Cons: Can be dangerous if you cant get your big creatures out.
MBAC: Talir, Who Sees Beyond (Legendary)

Justice (Rating: 5 of 5)
Pro: Lots of buffs, good creatures, flying, warcry and one of the best weapons in the game.
Cons: Nearly no con. They have everything you need - mostly.
MBAC: Rolant, the Iron Fist (Legendary)

Primal (Rating: 2 of 5)
Pro: Card Draw, Spells and good combo-possibilities.
Con: Combos. Lots of cards can combo good but dont expect to draft them.
MBAC: Eilyn, Queen of the Wilds (Legendary)

Shadow (Rating: 3 of 5)
Pro: Life-Leech. Lots of it. Lots of Entomb cards. Good combos and lots of -1/-1 tokens.
Cons: Lots of situational cards that only work in combination.
MBAC: Vara, Fate-Touched (Legendary)

Here are, in my opinion, my favorite top 3 Combo-Factions:

- Time & Justice (Rating: 5 of 5!)
- Fire & Justice (Rating: 5 of 5!)
- Time & Shadow

You see, time is always in it. ÄIf you cant draft time, you can aim for Fire & Shadow too, or Shadow & Primal.

What does MBAC mean?
That means "Most Bad Ass Card" and is a total no-brainer. Take that immediately when you draft it. Dont even think about the rest you can get. Except for Infernus, there are lots of good cards for Fire. I only used single colored cards. Red & Green has the best Cards in the whole game currently.

Important honorable Mention of a special card: "The Witching Hour" (Shadow)

This is a rather special card. It cost 24 Power and a Shadow-Faction Rating of 6. Pretty expensive huh? When you play a non-power card, the cost is reduced by 1. Sounds good too, right? Well, in Draft you are most likely to never play it out. It would be a hyper-lategame card. It can win you the game in draft easily. But dont expect it to that - In most cases it will be a extreme dead card.
Part #04 - My personal Decks
Hey.

So, you want to know which Decks i am using so far? You dont wanna come up with your own idea? Well, you can simply copy this and can be sure to have a pretty good deck. Most of them are in a constant change so i give you the current versions of those.

Also: You can copy the decks into your clippboard and import those in your game. I love building theme-decks. The old ones here werent good enough so i decided to delete them, allthough they were playable at first.

4 Water of Life (Set1 #68)
1 Auric Sentry (Set1 #146)
4 Combrei Healer (Set1 #333)
2 Decay (Set1 #95)
2 Dispel (Set1 #91)
1 Order of the Spire (Set1 #149)
4 Scorpion Wasp (Set1 #96)
1 Treasury Guard (Set1 #505)
3 Valkyrie Enforcer (Set1 #151)
1 Sandstorm Titan (Set1 #99)
2 Steward of Prophecy (Set1 #97)
4 Lumen Defender (Set1 #115)
4 Champion of Progress (Set1 #345)
2 Mystic Ascendant (Set1 #116)
4 Hall of Lost Kings (Set1 #121)
1 Pillar of Amar (Set1 #122)
1 Vodakhan, Temple Speaker (Set1 #347)
9 Justice Sigil (Set1 #126)
9 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)
2 Amber Monument (Set1 #420)
1 Emerald Monument (Set1 #422)
4 Seat of Progress (Set0 #58)

Main strategy of this Justice & Time (Green & Yellow) Deck is to hold your life points on 26+ for one of the key cards 'Hall of Lost Kings' which gives you 5 5/5 Sentinels if you have 26 or more life and just 1 5/5 Sentinel (for emergency use) if you have 25 or lesser Life Points.

The 'Mystic Ascendant' has 4/4 and Empower that gives him +2/+2 and you draw a card. Pretty awesome, huh?

Another key-card is the Champion of Progress. For 6 Power you get a 6/6 Body. That alone is okay but he has an awesome effect for your lategame: If you have 6 Influence, be it Justice and/or Time, you get another +6/+6. In the end you have a 18/18 Body. 4 times. I would bite my ass if that doesnt eat up removals alone by itself.

And if you have a slight mana-bubble problem, 'Vodakhan, Temple Speaker' and 'Pillar of Amar' come to a rescue! 'Voda' has +1/+1 for your max power. If you have 10 max power he has 10/10. Not only that, he gives 'Destiny' to all your Power-Cards! Mana-Bubble? Psch! Not with that guy!

And our lovely 'Pillar of Amar' does a wonderful thing. He has 5/5 and a awesome empower ability: He creates a 5/5 Sentinel everytime you play a power card.
Part #05 - Star Rating for Drafts (Time)
Please be aware the stars are meant to rate the Card right of them!

2 more gauntlet bosses, 1 causes summon to activate twice, the other is Nikki's Grab bag, a random card is drawn each turn and does not require influence(in addition to regular drawing)
Jexyll 3 Jan, 2017 @ 7:30pm
The effect I'm referring to is this one "Every Unit in your deck has an additional random effect"
Jexyll 3 Jan, 2017 @ 7:29pm
Well, there is a slight difference in that drawing the same card multiple times can cause extra effects on the same cards, but it's not really relevant except for a few cards (second sight, dark return, etc)
Narsiph  [author] 3 Jan, 2017 @ 5:55pm
@ChannelNova
The effect the boss has? Dont know what you mean - sorry. If its the boss' ability its decided/drawn right on the start. And those random effects are applied to your creatures - i think it doesnt really matter if drawn or not. Since if you draw them they can have the effect (like destiny)
Jexyll 3 Jan, 2017 @ 8:23am
IIRC the random effect boss applies upon drawing the creature, not at the beginning of the game, similar to crown of possibilities, I might be wrong though.

thank you @Noxxer2016
I'll add it. Found out one more :)
