It should work on:
  • NVDA
  • Jaws
  • Window eyes
  • Zoom text
  • Dolphin (super nova)
  • System access
  • Windows SAPI

for any windows system starting with Windows XP and above.

The game checks on its start the presence of listed screen readers (currently running) and if it finds one it will use it as an output. If for some reason it doesn't work for you try to use SAPI (see controls section).
Installation
The patch depends on "Visual C++ redistributable for visual studio 2015" (known as vcredist) so I've included it into patch - it can be found inside of redist folder. This vcredist thing is usually installed with other software or windows updates, so it might be that you don't need it because it's already installed. So, install it only if the game says something about missing dll-files.
There are 2 zip-files - you can use any of them. If you're using Windows XP and for some reason majiro_non_xp patch doesn't work for you, use majiro_xp instead.
  • Unzip the contents of any of the zip-files[1drv.ms] into your game's folder. Overwrite if asked
  • Run "Rain marginal.exe"

Note: In order to get the trading cards, you need to start the game through steam.
Controls
  • Toggle Windows SAPI: Shift + C
  • Quit: Alt + F4
  • Next sentence: Enter, NumPad Enter, Shift, X keys. For a gamepad: B and Y buttons.
  • Log / history: Up and Down arrow keys. For a gamepad: Analog stick Up and Down.
  • Skip or fast forward: hold / press Ctrl key
  • Toggle fullscreen: F4
  • Cancel / exit current menu: Esc key. For a gamepad: A and X buttons.
  • Load: F3
  • Save: F2

The game's window has a menu bar, so you can find some usefull features in it, like for example: use joystick. You can access the menu bar by pressing Alt key.
By pressing F9 (or by opening the config screen from the game itself) there will be a popup dialog window where you can set game settings if needed. You can close this dialog window by pressing Esc key on your keyboard.
To access the game popup menu from the text mode you need to press Esc key twice - first press should open the overlay and the second one should open the menu itself - weird, but this is the way the game work.
The navigation through the menus is done by keyboard arrow keys or by analog stick (not D-Pad) if you're using a gamepad.

If you're using NVDA and analog stick of your gamepad doesn't work as it should, make sure the option "Handle keys from other applications" is turned off. You can find this option under the "Keyboard Settings" (NVDA + control + K).

A few more words about the controls:
they're weird and inconsistent. Sometimes pressing Enter above the selected button does nothing. The controls inside of save / load menus is a hell - the game uses coordinate system to navigate buttons with the keyboard / gamepad so pressing left / right / up or down might lead you to unexpected places, like for example you can jump from page 8 to back button (by pressing down) to page 6 (by pressing up) and then to slot 1 (by pressing down again). Not a very keyboard user friendly game if you ask me. So don't get upset if something doesn't work as expected.
Navigation
  • After you start the game wait for a music to start playing - this is an indicator that now you can play the game. It will be the main menu (it should be also announced by a screen reader).
  • Inside of the popup menu you can find a button called "Log" - I blocked this button, because when you access game's log the game will throw so much text onto you it's just ridiculous. So I made a log that will contain the last 10 screens that you read (accesed by pressing Up or Down keys or analog stick).
  • There are a couple of menu screens in the game. Their names should be announced to you by your screen reader (like for example: sub menu, main menu, chapter select screen).
  • There are a couple of popup messages ("Saved", "Cannot save") that will require you to press Enter (for keyboard) / A or X (for gamepad) or Esc (for keyboard) / B or Y (for gamepad) in order for them to disappear.
  • There are a couple of choices routes. The place with the choices will be indicated with a short sound.
Recommendations
The game can be played the way you want it to be played, but I will recommend you to set "Text Speed" setting to zero (it works the same way as in original Narcissu when you press "O" key).
Known Issues
This patch in no way is a perfect functional copy of the game. Some features will not work because fixing them will require enormous amount of effort and time. Here is the short list for some of them:
  • Menu buttons doesn't work in fullscreen mode. Just press F4 if you're accidentally fell into fullscreen mode to switch back to windowed mode. The issue relates to "I don't want to implement useless computations because this mode will never be used"-thing.
  • I've already described the controls (see Controls section) - they're weird.
  • Usage of the mouse wheel while in text mode will lead to opening the game's Log window and as a result - lot's of useless text will be thrown at you. So just don't use the mouse wheel.

Everything that actually in the game works, except the log mode and the config screen, I redid them so they work.
