"As a KSP noob, hopping the pond on my first surface anomaly mission felt as awesome as that Hulkbuster/Veronica deployment scene (in Avengers 2). :-)

65 hours in and I'm pretty hooked; I really love the process of trying to make some crazy new craft, then refining it iteratively until it works well (probably far better than strictly necessary).

I'm only a half way into the 90 science R&D tier. Retractable wheels and fairings were available only from testing contracts at the time of this little mission. I've been putting off the obvious - going to the moon - since I've found playing with basic aircraft so involving. I'd been trying, for a while, to figure out how to (quickly) deploy a small aircraft to the other side of the world to complete a multi-part atmospheric survey (in style) when I got the 1.25m fairings, which are a godsend! Hopefully be able to do that next.

Can I download that plane? I really would like to try it out.

@Shifty Mongoose - Yeah, Imanaged to lob this little pod plane all the way to the other side of Kerbin, and the badlands too, for a couple of those 4 location readings under X meters.

Also, yeah, my first moon probe sent back a major science bounty. Been trying to figure out all the setups I want to take for a full-on Kerbal presence there next... This game is *very* involved. :-)

That is an ingenious setup you made there. Unfortunately, if you want to reach the Badlands, it either takes a lot of flying or getting into and out of orbit. You might be able to get to the Mun at this point, and harvest its bountiful science.
