What? (Introduction)
When somebody asks me “What is your favorite game?” I never know what to answer… Is it GTA Online that dethroned Vice City in my book as best game world, that can suck you in and never let go? Is it Metal Gear Solid 3 (Subsistance!) with its perfect blend of stealth action and spy movie? Maybe Resident Evil 3 that is old-school survival horror at its high time? Or X-Men Legends 2, to date still my favorite comic-book RPG? The more games that get released, the more difficult that answer gets for me. So some of us were searching for a solution and found it in the form of achievements. It’s not an enlargement pill for your digital p3nis (that’d be writing comments on steam forums for the majority, it seems) or a sort of knighting for gamers. It’s a way to show how much time (or how less) we’ve spent in that game, looking at all nooks and crannies to find every last secret and then some. Some games are so good, that you spend days on getting all achievements and when it’s finally (or sadly) over? Buy another console and start all over again (or wait for the Special Edition release). Then there are games that you loved as a kid/teen, but going back at an older age often removes those so called “nostalgia glasses” and lets you see that classic in a different light. Much like that windowless van that was your “Love Machine” in your youth, but looking at it now it seems to be more like the working place of a childmo…

Anyway, this game was (and for me still is) one of the better action RPG games, right before the sequel made every hero into the equivalent of a corridor shooter compared to an open world game. For people that don’t want to spend too much time in this game and go straight to the fast food (UA2), this guide was made to get all achievements in the fastest way possible. This guide is meant to provide a walkthrough for all achievements that come with the game. It does NOT include strategies for any of the bosses, since there are enough other guides out there covering them and on Easy and Normal they are really not that difficult. Also, once you take on Hard mode, you’ll surely know any boss and their (easy) tactics.
Wait, what?!? (Information)
I’ll start with talking about the 3 different kind of heroes (when looking at achievements) and the different boosts every hero offers in your team.
Next you'll find a "walkthrough" of the game with the items to pick-up (no gear though!), the actions to perform to achieve the best possible endings (no achievement for that, sadly) and the achievements that can be grabbed, by choosing certain characters or performing certain actions during the game. Any achievements that (usually) require more than one play through are covered right before and after that walkthrough.
Then I'll list an overview of all Trivia questions for all acts. Don’t forget to save right before starting any quiz. More than once did I mess up several questions, where there are similar answers (looking at “how to write Spider-Man correctly” and “is it Murderworld or Murderland?”) and sometimes I did not save in a long time, which made restarting a b*tch!
The guide ends with a quick list of all items I usually keep through any play-through.

If you don’t agree with the heroes (or villains ;-) I chose for this team, please present your team in the comments. Especially for people new to the series/genre, the more diverse options and opinions they have available, the better! =)
I will not talk about Team-boosts from having certain characters in the team, as that is really not that important for this guide.

Yes: the “walkthrough” part is based on Youngblood0000’s item guide (PS2) on Gamefaqs, but his guide is incomplete and in 2 places confusing (level 6 - 2nd area "Inferno": I swapped skill point and DD's action figure | level 8 - 1st area "Asgard": I swapped skill point and DD's action figure again). I also did not find any guide that includes all pick-up’s, side missions and achievements in one guide without reading through a wall of text and since I don’t like having 4 guides open at the same time while playing, I decided to make one myself.

Please note:
When I am talking about “works great on Hard” that means I am talking about a game on Hard, that started with a game already finished on Easy or Normal and taking over the stats! Starting fresh on Hard is only meant for experienced players looking for a new challenge. It definitely drags out the game and thus contradicts a “fast achievement guide”. To get all achievements you'll need to play the main story at least twice. But if you really want to keep every hero "clean" (meaning YOU decide which point goes into what power, not the AI!) and still have an 'easy' play-through on hard, I’d advice on 3 times. The first on Easy to unlock all (!) characters and their costumes and getting Gold on all simulation disc mission as soon as you pick them up. Some simulation discs get really hard the further the hero levels up (Blade, for example) and the higher the difficulty is.
The second play-through would be on Normal but with a fresh start on ALL characters (= don't start a Normal play-through with the save game from Easy!), so you can level every character the way you want it. Legends 2 and Ultimate Alliance 2 offered an option to disable auto-point allocation for ALL characters at the same time, but in this game you HAVE to disable this (and auto-gear-assignment) on every character separately... The third play-through would be on Hard only for that achievement and (if you're a good player in this game by then) to wrap-up all missing achievements. Otherwise start a new Normal or even Easy game with the save game you hopefully created, after beating Doom on hard.

One last (but very important) thing before we start; something that no guide (I've read so far) covers:
You CAN stack the XP bonus gear by giving every hero one of them! So far I am using the Norn stones (+15% XP | +30% Shield coins) on my main hero, the Aura of Seduction (+20% XP) and the MODOK chip (+5% XP) are on 2 other heroes. That gives you a total boost of +40% XP!
Trying the first level (Shield carrier) on Hard without any XP boost, then restarting with only the Aura of Seduction and finally restarting with ALL items in use, you'll notice the difference! But that doesn't only work with the XP bonus! Any item you give to the characters you're not actively playing with (but using in your active team) will work! Oh and similar boosts from different heroes work the same, so nothing stops you from putting Deadpool, Daredevil AND Elektra in one team to get the maximum boost in damage output possible! Well, except the time it takes you to get all achievements, since you’ll spend a lot of time on Hard regrouping to reload your energy bar, or use the portal and wait 5 minutes, since your 4th choice, Invisible Woman, went down again.
How? (more information)
With “only” 4 character slots available, there are some (more) questions to be answered, when hunting for achievements:
To finish this game fast (especially on Hard), Ultimate Alliance has really only 3 types of characters:

the Boosters
This is the most important criteria I use to sort heroes. If a boost is the best in its class, the hero gets a spot on my team. If an unlock-able character has a better one, the moment that character is unlocked I swap her/him with a current hero. If a hero leaves the Booster category, s/he automatically goes into the Tank category.
- Boosting only includes heroes, where the used boost benefits the whole team! Doom's Doom Shield is his better boost, but only he gets a shield that hurts melee attackers and the other 3 (AI) heroes are not affected.
- Doom is actually also a good example for the second type of boost I never use: striking fear into the enemy (his other boost, which does also include critical hit increase). When hunting for achievements, I want the enemy to come to me, not run away so I have to chase after them! The less time spent on running after enemies, the more time spent throwing them off ledges!
- The third useless boost is drawing attention from enemies. Especially with the team I am using, it doesn't matter WHO the enemy attacks, since I try to keep all heroes close to each other anyway. Every available boost counts on Hard, so instead of having 1 boost to decrease received damage and 1 to increase dealt damage, plus 1 energy spending and 1 attract enemies/strike fear boost, I rather swap that last one for another dealt damage increasing boost. The enemy doesn't scatter on the level AND dies faster...
(There are also other boosts, like increasing stats or revealing enemies on the radar, but they're not even worth to be mentioned here...)
- Slowing down time is one of the best boosts for some… BUT: on one hand it’s good to have more time to hit the enemy while he is swinging at you, but there is no hero that brings this boost in a combo. So I rather increase the speed of my own team while ALSO boosting their dealt damage, or decreasing received damage with the same boost!

the Tank
This is the character you're using the most, as the other 3 are only here for their boosts. I (usually) don't care what kind of boost the TANK offers, but what their strongest (and fastest!) power is, so I can deal the most possible damage in the shortest amount of time. Energy usage is not important... at least in the team I am putting together (more on that later).
There is only 1 spot for a tank (you don't want to switch between heroes even more frequently, than you already have to for reactivating their boosts), so the moment a better character unlocks, the current one becomes useless (again: on Hard).
In my first play-through this is always Moon Knight.
His Nunchuk power is (coupled with Deadpool's damage boost and Iron Man’s energy usage boost) the best you can get to finish Easy in the fastest time possible. Some heroes (and villains) have a stronger attack power, but they always lack in another area. Take Sabretooth as example: his Talon Frenzy attack is one of the strongest in the game, but he is much harder to control and aim, when spamming it. Every time Moon Knight's Nunchuck hits an enemy it also increased his attack speed for a short while. In a combo with Deadpool's damage and speed increase, he is clearing areas on easy faster than anybody else, giving you more time to spend on the time-consuming achievements. As second power I always give him Staff Slam, since it's his only radial damage and it’s always nice to hit several enemies at once (I barely use it, though ^^).

the Useless
If the hero doesn't fit in one of the 2 first categories, he becomes Useless for achievement hunting. On Easy and even Normal a lot of characters are really fun to play, but take Dr. Strange for example: He provides a good health regenerating boost to the team, at the cost of health from himself... No thanks! On hard this could break your neck and there are other boosts more useful, or even more fun to use.
Boosts? (there's more...)
My main factor in categorizing a hero is, again, the best boost. If there is a different character with a better boost, the one with the lower one automatically goes into the TANK category.
There are 4 (important) types of boosts for a quick play-through:

Decreasing energy usage
This is a really handy boost, since you can spam any power from (almost) any hero, as long as this is active. With this boost, some heroes can clean a room full of baddies in seconds, just by spamming their best power over and over again, without the other 3 even moving an inch.
There is only 1 hero in the entire game, which offers this boost: Iron Man. A MUST HAVE to get all achievements fast!

Increasing damage output
Daredevil, Deadpool and Elektra offer this boost, while Deadpool combos that with an increase in speed. It still puzzles me why so many players say Deadpool is one of the most useless characters, when he can be such a great addition with this boost on Hard!
For example: Take Captain America (his boost decreases received damage) and run through the first level (Shield Helicarrier) on Hard first without this boost and then restart WITH the boost active! See the difference? Now add Elektra and try again! ...ikr? If you then add Moon Knight as the Tank and use his Nunchuck ability, he is a powerhouse that cannot be stopped easily.

Decreasing received damage | Healing
I prefer decreasing received damage over healing, simply because decreasing damage works all the time (when active), but healing only has any use when one of your heroes is hurt. Also, with the lesser amount of damage received on Hard with this boost, any health orbs dropped by enemies are (usually) enough to get back to full health. There are a few heroes that offer this boost (Captain America and Blade, as examples), but the best at the beginning is Human Torch, since his decreased damage boost ALSO adds a chance for fire damage to all your melee attacks! Theoretically...
Once you've unlocked him, Nick Fury with his +20% damage decrease at power level 1is priceless compared to the +6% of everybody else!(!!!)

Any other type of boost (slowing down time | increasing stats | etc.)
All the other boosts for the entire team are (imo) useless for achievement hunting, so everybody in here automatically becomes a choice for TANK. On Easy and Normal it’s fun to try out different characters, but on Hard every boost counts!
Who? (Characters part 1)
I'll simply list every playable character in the game with the powers I consider useful for a quick play-trough. If you want more detailed explanations for their powers, I advise you to check them in-game and (we come to that later again) test them while you're busy with your first Easy play-through.
The “@” power always shows the alternative I used in her/his SimDisc, since especially heroes with a team boost often benefit from the other boost much more, when being alone.

Black Panther
Powers: Crippling Blow | Energy Daggers | Master Hunter (@ Stealth)
Costume: Classic
Crippling Blow and Energy Daggers are his most powerful moves, great for the AI when used as booster and not bad for the SIM disc.
Master Hunter decreases received damage for the whole team and reveals enemies on the mini-map.
Stealth makes him invisible for most enemies, reduces received damage AND increases critical hit chance. Perfect for an easy gold medal on his simulation disc.

Blade
Powers: Spike of Destruction | Gun Blast | Blood of the warrior
Costume: Daywalker
Spike of Destruction and Gun Blast are the abilities I used in his SIM disc and they did not disappoint.
Blood of the warrior adds Striking and increased attack speed, while regenerating health faster. It DOES increase received melee damage, but if you keep them away from you that’s not a problem...

Captain America
Powers: Shield Bash | Shield Throw | Heroism (@ Reserve Strength)
Costume: Classic
Shield Bash and Shield Throw are his best powers and since Shield Throw is a great crowd control power in the first 20 levels (then Nunchuk unlocks for Moon Night), he is my pick for the first Easy play-through.
Heroism is one of the many received damage reduction boosts, but Human Torch's boost is a little bit stronger AND adds fire damage to melee attacks. The problem is that Johnny's crowd control attack (important only until level 20 and after that obsolete) also makes enemies fly. They get increased damage, when you hit them while lying on the ground and the Shield Throw simply knocks them down. When they're flying in the air a bit, they are harder to hit and thus extending the time needed to kill them.

Colossus
Powers: Pulverizing Punch | Take Down | Thick Skin
Costume: Astonishing
Thick Skin provides received damage reduction for the whole team (his other boost strikes fear...) in the same amount, as everybody else, but it doesn’t last as long on the same power level...
His one advantage shows up when throwing enemies over ledges: he throws enemies the highest of all heroes, making him ideal for the Widowmaker achievement (since a lot of ledges in the game have invisible barriers)!

Cyclops
Powers: Optic Stream | Optic Explosion | Combat X-pertise (@ Beam Power)
Costume: Astonishing
Combat X-pertise provides received damage reduction for the whole team, but for a lower percentage on all power levels, than most others in that category.

Daredevil
Powers: Extensive Strike | Devastation | Blind Sight
Costume: Armored
Blind Sight provides 1 of the 3 damage boosts available and reveals enemies on the mini-map, but Deadpool also adds a speed increase, so DD is only second choice.

Deadpool
Powers: Dual Shot | Blade Cyclone | Battle Cry
Costume: Ultimate
Deadpool is my go to hero for dealt damage increase, since it also raises attack speed. In a combo with Moon Knight's speed increase on every Nunchuck hit and Iron Man's Energy usage boost, you literally run through your first Easy play-through in no-time! On that same run I always use Wade's Dual Shot on bosses, before reaching lvl 20 (when Moon Knight’s Nunchuck’s unlock). In the team I always use, this is the second best attack for that job.

Dr. Doom
Powers: Mask of Doom | Doom Arc | Doom Shield
Costume: Secret Wars
The first Tank character on this list, since both of his boosts only affect him (and enemies). His powers are low compared to the 2 best on the list. But since you have to pick him while fighting him on the first run (# Achievement), I'm glad his powers are not weak either.

Dr. Strange
Powers: Falteen Flame | Black Magic | Teleport
Costume: Classic
His team boost regenerates health and even clears effects (like stunned) when he is close (!) to an ally, but it costs some health and so... he's a Tank for me. His SIM disc is not really a problem.

Elektra
Powers: Sai Stab | Death's Touch | Inner calm (@ Focused Chi)
Costume: Stealth
Elektra has the lowest of the 3 damage boosts. Daredevil's boost and attacks are better, so he gets the pick on any play-through, after the first.

Ghost Rider
Powers: Ravaging Flame | Damnation | Penance Stare
Costume: Original
His Original costume can revive fallen heroes, but both his boosts scare the enemy, which is a no-go for achievement hunting. IF somebody goes down on my play-through, it usually only happens when "that stupid AI fell off a ledge again!"... But you have to swap one of your heroes with him for a short while and finish his SIM disc, so it’s again good that his powers don't completely suck.
Who? (part 2)
Hawkeye
Powers: Ice Pick | Piercing Shock | Hawk's Revenge
Costume: Modern
Another Tank without any group boost and he doesn't even have a SIM disc, so he's not on my radar.

Hulk
Powers: Hulk Stomp | Hulk Knock Down | Hulk Boost
Costume: Classic
Hulk's boost to decrease received damage is on par with the Human Torch and even lasts a little bit longer, but doesn't add the fire-damage on melee attacks. It's still a bit better than Cap's (on paper...) and Black Panther's boost though!

Human Torch
Powers: Inferno | Firestorm | Ring of Fire
Costume: Modern
As we've learned from Cap's comments, Johnny's received damage reduction boost is the better in the first play-through. BUT his crowd control attack is not helpful when hunting achievements (enemies fly into the air, increasing the killing time), so I only play with him on his SIM disc and when unlocking his costumes. At least Chris Evans is good as both characters in the movies... ^^

Iceman
Powers: Freeze Beam | Polar Explosion | Frigid Aura (+1 point in Ice Slide)
Costume: Bobby Drake
Bobby's boost ' only' adds freeze damage, which slows down enemies. Maybe funny on Easy, but not in my team and his SIM disc is one of the worst to get gold for. It's in Mephisto's realm (because of course it is...) and the enemies don't re-spawn, except 1 Fire Demon every minute.
When the enemies don't re-spawn, EVERY second counts, so you can only go back to that b@stard to grab his sword for the boss here.
I wasn't patient enough right after I picked it up, but once I had all SIM discs, I tried again and it worked... at the third try.
Oh and add 1 point to Ice Slide. You don't need to assign it since it (= flying instead of running) already works passive. Don't know why...

Invisible Woman
Powers: Telekinesis | Kinetic Surge | Fantastic Shield
Costume: Original
One more weak tank to tick off the list.
Her SIM discs is also not easy, but doable on Easy right after picking it up. So that's a plus, I guess...

Iron Man
Powers: Plasma Disc | Rocket Uppercut | Energy Reroute
Costume: Classic
The one and only (no seriously), with a boost that decreases energy use. Moon Knight wouldn't be so useful on the first Easy run without him, as his Nunchucks eat energy for breakfast... But add Iron Man and nothing stands in your way! For long anyway... After that run he becomes obsolete (more on that later), but will return on every play-through for old times’ sake (ok ok, only for a second to grab that skill point at Tony Stark’s Lab)

Luke Cage
Powers: Chain Strike | Drill Bit | Rebound
Costume: New Avengers
Another Tank going straight to the bench. Not much to say, really... His SIM disc seems to be easy, got gold on the first try.

Magneto
Powers: Shockwaves | Magnetic Toss | Dark Energy
Costume: Classic
Dark Energy raises power levels and costume stats for a while. And then it doesn't (on my team)...

Mr. Fantastic
Powers: Propeller Arms | Rubberband Recoil | Fantastic Fists
Costume: Ultimate
He seems to be a favorite with some players, but I didn't like him on his SIM disc. No boost for the team (although Elastic Evasion could potentially save your team from some harm...), so no place for him in it.

Moon Knight
Powers: Staff Slam | Nunchuks | Staff Combat
Costume: Classic
Moon Knight is the best Tank on your first play-through, hands down! EVERY single guide on the internet (that I’ve read) ALWAYS says his Nunchuck power is amazing BUT uses energy like Wesley Snipes the green, while skillfully ignoring that there is another hero that takes care of this! With him, even on Normal and Hard the game is a breeze, but by then (and if you follow this guide =) you surely found the one exception, that puts even Moon Knight in the shadow.
Staff Slam is a good radial power, for the time you just need some space to get to that pickup, which is swarmed by enemies right now. Staff Combat increases melee damage (by adding a staff to your normal attacks) so it sadly doesn’t increase Nunchucks even more, but since the Nunchuck power increases your attack speed with every hit you land, PLUS the speed increase of his costume AND the damage&speed increase from Deadpool, running through Easy would make Flash jealous... This character is perfect for a fast achievement hunt!

Ms. Marvel
Powers: Photon Burst | Prism | Binary Boost
Costume: Binary
Either boosts energy damage (a little) from and decreases the same dealt to the team and not by much, or slows down time. NEXT
Who? (part 3)
Nick Fury
Powers: SMG | Frag | Motion Sensor
Costume: Stealth
One of the 3 characters in this game that greatly increases your performance on any play-through after the first! No wonder this guy is hidden behind at least one play-through, since his boost for received damage reduction is amazing! On Easy, while Cap's boost provides -4% damage at power level 5 (Cap's power starts here), Nick's boost already provides a whopping -28%... and I did not forget a comma! Not only that, but Cap's ability unlocks at level 14, while Nick's one kicks in at level 2 with already -19% damage. You would need to re-boost every 20 seconds in the first few hero levels (until power level 5, when it last as long as cap's), but on any other play-through after the first, there is not much that can kill you with this boost active!

Nightcrawler
Powers: Sword Whirlwind | Bamfing Blitz | Shadow Crawl
Costume: Classic
This game definitely doesn't run out of Tanks for the bench.

Sabretooth
Powers: Pounce | Talon Frenzy | Berserker Rage
Costume: Modern
Talon Frenzy is a really powerful attack, too bad he steers like a drunken 18-wheeler downhill while using it.
Don't forget to add him for a short time before going to Shi’Ar Warship for that precious achievement!

Silver Surfer
Powers: Molecular Mix Up | Surfer's Rage | 'nuff said...! (Heal)
Costume: Power Surge
Finally, the “Konami code” for achievement hunting in this game. There is a reason he is hidden behind gold on all SIM discs, y'know?
Surfer's Rage is anything you need for a Tank! It doesn't seem much at first, all alone on Hard with that big bad end-boss-Doom and 4 of his fantastic friends in front of it. But it spreads to a maximum of 4 more enemies and with every sucker added, it's damage increases a bit more on all victims! Now add Nick Fury and (especially on Hard) you already last MUCH longer, giving you more time showering them with pain. While you’re at it, add Deadpool with his damage&speed increase and the odds are already in your favor...
But wait, we're not finished yet! Did I mention that this power barely uses Energy? It uses such an low amount, that Iron Man's boost basically gets useless and BOY do I love boosts in my main team getting useless! Thank you Tony, but DareDevil is waiting to fill your spot, adding another damage boost to this ridiculously strong power!
“But Plake, WAIT!” I hear some of you yell, “This power does energy damage and there is the occasional sh*t-for-brain with an immunity against that.. What'd you do then, eh? What'd you do?”
Luckily his second power, Molecular Mix Up, is normal damage AND adds a bleeding effect (another thing every guide I read seems to ignore...). So that’s that. He also moves fast with his board, a great change from Moon Knight's running. (Yes: also faster than rolling)
The icing on this pain-dealing cake is his Healing boost. Even IF some of the tougher enemies come close and stuff is about to hit the fan (Surfer's Rage, luckily, keeps most of them on distance), "pop a pill" and keep on rollin'...
If this Tank is not the best this game has to offer, I wanna know what is! (Write it in the comments NOW! =)

Spider-Man
Powers: Web bullets | Web Warrior | Web Shield
Costume: Classic
One of the biggest fan favorites, but not really that useful to run through the game. Wait... He actually is useful to swing fast through the whole thing, but if you're planning on tackling enemies while picking up items, there are much better choices. Web Warrior also works on bosses but obviously doesn't throw them across the room like the normal enemies. Still one of the better boss-battling powers.

Spider-Woman
Powers: Ensnare | Venom Blast | Metabolic Aura
Costume: Classic
1 of the 2 SIM discs I had to re-try, after picking up the last one. Also the healing looks nice on paper, but in practice I wouldn’t use her for combat

Storm
Powers: Lightning Strike | Blitz | Whirlwind Armor
Costume: Classic
Another team boost that decreases received damage, but not of all kinds (“only” elemental damage today). Not my favorite X-(wo)Man in the comics and even less so in this game.

Thing
Powers: Hand Clap | Earthclobber | Tough Skin
Costume: Modern
"It's clobberin' time!" Sure big guy, but not in my house... uhm, team! His Die Hard boost only affects him and it reduces received melee damage while increasing ALL OTHER types of received damage. Not the best Tank, but there are worse...

Thor
Powers: Mjolnir's Might | Hammer Toss | Asgard’s Blessing
Costume: Ultimate
Stun them with Toss and finish the job with Might. As simple as that. This is the ONLY hero in this list, where I am actually advertising a boost that increases stats temporarily for the whole team. But only since his other boost is even worse...

Venom
Powers: Symbiote Flail | Symbiote Byte | Claw
Costume: Ultimate
Venom... Great in Ultimate Spiderman, but mediocre in Ultimate Alliance. And by now we know the right choice for a Tank, don't we?

Wolverine
Powers: Claw Slash | Lethal Lunge | Fury
Costume: Ultimate / Classic
My favorite tank for the first play-through back on PS2 (no Moon Knight and Colossus there...), but more out of nostalgia, than usefulness. He is still a great Tank, mind you, and up until Ultimate Alliance on PS2 he was ALWAYS my tank in any Legends game. But obviously Moon Knight is the better choice for the sake of achievement hunting. For the costume, it really depends on what your playstyle is. If you fully focus on filling your rage meter, use ultimate. If you simply want to kill stuff with him, no matter what state he is in, Classic.

Looking at this list, I am obviously using:

First play-through on Easy:
Moon Knight
Deadpool
Iron Man
Captain America

Any further play-through:
Silver Surfer
Deadpool
Daredevil
Nick Fury
When? (Walkthrough)
Here are all the symbols, that I use in this guide:

# : indicates a chance to get an achievement
* : indicates an action to setup/finish one of the side missions for 1 of the 10 "endings"
+ : indicates a skill pickup
$ : indicates a sketchbook pickup
& : indicates a collectible figurine (Daredevil or Black Panther) pickup
@: indicates a Simulation Disc pickup

Something important to mention for the first Easy play-through:
BEFORE I use that team shown above, I ALWAYS only use 1 hero at a time instead of 3, to quickly unlock the first 3 costumes. As I will mention also again when talking about the achievement, the best way to unlock all costumes is by only using that one hero to easily kill the needed amount of enemies (30 and 175 for “normal” characters and 250 for the 4th of almost all DLC characters). Once you’ve unlocked the 3rd (or 4th) costume, open the portal and swap that hero with the next. Try to use heroes first, that do not have a SIM disc, as SIM disc heroes get some extra kill-time during their respective mission. With this you should have unlocked ALL costumes by the end of the game (once I’ve picked up the last SIM disc, I went back to the HUB to finish them all on gold).

For the team on any further play-through I've said enough for the specific heroes already.

Keep the “kill (x amount of) enemies” and “throw (x amount of) enemies off a ledge” in mind!
Those can and will need to be accumulated during all of your play trough’s in story mode and SIM missions! Especially the elevator part at ‘Omega Base’ and the whole ‘Skrull Homeworld’ level are ideal spots with ledges in story mode. But the best spot is in Mephisto's Realm, when you have several spots with respawning enemies. More on that, when i talk about this achievement.

# Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. - Nick Fury was unlocked as a playable hero.
Are we done? (Achievement wrap-up)
Unlocking

# Excelsior! - Beat Marvel: Ultimate Alliance in Hard Mode.

As written above already: I advise to unlock all heroes on Easy, then starting fresh on Normal and immediately disabling auto-level-up and gear assignment. By the end of Normal the (active) heroes should be at ~lvl 30, perfect for an ‘easy’ play-through on Hard.
If you use Silver Surfer as main hero and Deadpool/Daredevil/Nick Fury as boosters, nothing really stands in your way.

# Doom's Duds - Unlocked all the outfits for Doom.
# Magnetic Regalia - Unlocked all the outfits for Magneto.
# Creed's Cloth - Unlocked all the outfits for Sabretooth.
# Symbiote Skins - Unlocked all the outfits for Venom.

# Gamma Garb - Unlocked all the outfits for the Hulk.
# Archer Apparel - Unlocked all the outfits for Hawkeye.
# Optic Outfits - Unlocked all the outfits for Cyclops.
# Teleport Threads - Unlocked all the outfits for Nightcrawler.

As written at the start of the walkthrough: I advise to only use 1 hero at a time in your team for the Easy (and even Normal) walkthrough and swapping for the next hero, the moment you unlock all (first) 3 costumes. You obviously need to add a second character once in a while, to activate 2-hero-switches. At least on Normal you should also take all 4 heroes for any (named) boss, as this makes it much easier to defeat them.

# Surfs Up - Silver Surfer was unlocked as a playable hero.
# Dressed for Success - Unlocked ALL outfits for EVERY hero
# Golden Age of Comics - Attained gold on all comic missions.

To finish the SIM missions easily with a GOLD reward, the best strategy is to immediately tackle them, the moment you’ve picked them up. While testing my walkthrough, every time I finished a level and went back to the hub, I played all currently open SIM discs. Since the last update (which added all DLC characters) I did not encounter any crash, even when playing several SIM discs in a row without saving, but better be safe than sorry and save in between every finished disc. The only 2 discs I had to replay at the end of my Easy play through were Iceman and Blade, for the rest I got gold on the first try.

Multiplayer

# I have a friend - Completed a level with at least 1 other player
# Super Hero Team - Completed 25 levels with at least 1 other player.
# Teamwork - Completed 1 level with 3 other players.
# Ultimate Team Alliance - Completed 25 levels with 3 other players.

If you have friends online and willing to help you out, great! You're done in under 5 min, promised. If not, you'll need at least 1 controller for both “at least 1 other player” achievements. The second player will be the keyboard. Alone you now need 2 more controllers (I did not try, if another keyboard works as well...) to get the other 2.
From any save-game in Atlantis or after, go back to the Stark hub and let all players join. Now go to Iron Man's lab and the first (or first 2, if playing with 4 players in total) pops up. Congrats! Do this 24 more times (back to Stark hub is another level finished) and done.

Arcade mode

# Battle Tested - Won 1 Arcade Mode Level.
# Mad Skillz - Win 3 Arcade levels consecutively.
# Teh Mast3r - Won 15 Arcade Mode levels consecutively.
# Battle Hardened - Won 20 Arcade Mode Levels.
# The Destroyer - Won 100 Arcade Mode Levels.

When a second player joins and if you then choose “Arcade mode” and the hero s/he wants to play as, the game will disable the other 2 heroes and as soon as there are 5 enemies killed by one of the players in one area, traveling to another area will start a scoring screen. Whoever has more points wins. Do this the required amount of times and the achievement pops up. Offline both play on the same profile, so it doesn’t matter who wins.

Fellow steamer John Lennon found fastest way, since the amount of score result screens carries over when loading:
When you start a game, pick only 2 heroes like Spider-Man (or even better: Silver Surfer) and a random other hero. Run/Roll/Fly through the first level of the game until you meet Scorpion. Quickly kill him and run/roll/fly on, until you get the cutscene with Nick Fury. Leave the bridge and the next area starts with an SAP infront of your starting position. To the left of it is the exit to the flight deck of this map and to the right of the SAP comes a locked door. It is important that no enemy dies from now on, so activate the second player on your keyboard. Exit this map to the flight deck and DON'T kill anybody here! There are immediately 2 enemies and to the left, on the "balcony" are 2 more. In the third "room" is one more enemy and that makes 5. Lure them all into the first room you started in and go back to the Command deck. Leave the controller hero here on the exit to the flight deck and wwalk with the keyboard controller to the SAP. Now save and go with the gamepad player to the flight deck once more. Here you can kill all 5 enemies easily and go back to the Cmmand deck and the score result screen appears. Then load your save game and go directly to the flight deck without even moving an inch and kill them all over again. Shouldn't take more than 40-60 min tops...

For the consecutive achievements you cannot use the load function, so either find somebody who is willing to help you, or move the second character with the keyboard and let the controller hand do the job.

Killing

# Pugilist - Performed 5 Finishing Moves.
# Melee Master - Performed 50 Finishing Moves.
# Touch of Death - Performed 200 Finishing Moves.

A finishing move is a combo (e.g.: A A B) where the last button press kills (!) the enemy. Should not be a real problem, especially when you play with only 1 hero on Easy (and Normal), since the AI heroes then can’t “steal kills”, which also increases the speed in which you unlock all costumes. A big help is the item ‘Executioner’s axe’ as this double’s the damage of the last button press.

# Fledging superhero - Defeated 10 Enemies.
# Legendary Superhero - Defeated 100 Enemies.
# The Ultimate Super Hero - Defeated 4000 enemies.

Same as the finishing move one, but even faster, since this time killing includes dying by power attacks and ledge-throws. I never really counted, how many enemies are spread over the whole game, but I got the 4000 one during my third play through (I did not kill all enemies on my second, so you probably get it faster).

# Fall to Death - Threw 5 Enemies off a Ledge.
# Scared of Heights - Threw 50 Enemies off a ledge.
# Widowmaker - Threw 500 enemies off a ledge.

The easiest spot for that achievement (took me ~25 min from 20 to 500 on Hard) is the first area of lvl 6 - Mephisto's Realm.
There are 5 areas around your starting spot, where you need to kill enemies in a certain way to proceed. 2 of those have endless spawning enemies (close to ledges):

- Throw enemies into a lava pit to lower a platform.
- Kill enemies on a platform

In both cases several of the spawn points for enemies are close to a ledge, just position yourself between the spawnpoint and the ledge, grab the enemy as soon as they spawn and throw them. The only way to throw them with any hero is "behind you", as forward and to the side usually makes the enemy hit an invisible wall.

Make sure the other 3 heroes are dead (select them and jump down said ledge), as they WILL get in your way. When the Achievement pops up, finish the job here. Once the area is cleared, you can open your portal and revive the others.

With what? (Important items)
MODOK Chip
+5%XP | +3% CRIT on all attacks

Norn Stones
+15% XP | +30% credits

Aura of Seduction
+20% XP

All 3 are assigned to the 3 AI heroes, as soon as i pick them up. They make leveling up and buffing costumes so much easier.

Executioner's Axe
Finishers do double damage.

I put that on the Tank to unlock an achievement, after that it rots in the inventory...

Attuma's Wrath
Increases power damage by 25% | +35% damage to all Fire Dmg Powers

This is usually the item i put on my tank (especially in Jhonny's SIM Mission), since it offers the best power damage increase. Other items increase melee damage power and i don't need that anymore at the time they drop.

Loki's Gift
Reduces Attack Damage by 25% | Increases Damage Taken by 25%.

Read the description twice before using! For those moments where you need a challenge...

Starbolt's Flame
5 Fire Damage to all melee attacks | +35% damage to all Fire Dmg Powers.

White Ring of Mandarin
+5 Energy Dmg to all melee attacks | +35% damage to all Energy Dmg Powers.

Dark Uru Hammer
+10 Electricity Dmg to all melee attacks | +50% damage to all Electricity Dmg Powers.

Grappling Speed
Grab moves do 50% more damage.

Asgard Armor
+50% Elemental Dmb Resistance | +50% damage to all Electricity Dmg Powers.

Ultimo's Plating
10% chance to reflect projectiles. | +50% to Defense.

Spider's Bite
+10% chance to dodge melee attacks. | +20% movement and attack speed

I don't know why, but i always keep those items in stock. I never use them, but i also never sell them... ^^
WTF?!? (Known bugs)
Luckily since the last update that added all DLC characters (Magneto, Hulk, ect.), most bugs were also solved. While creating this guide i did not encounter any gamebraking bugs.

However, there is one very annoying bug in VS SIM discs at Omega base:
When you have Captain America in the team, you better use him as active hero, since as AI hero he is literally braindead. Even with enemies attacking he doesn't do sh*t and just stays where you leave him...

I did not test other heroes and always used the team described above (Cap, Pool, Tony and Moon).

Fellow steamer Dayvo encountered another bug:
"There's this one glitch with the Ymir boss battle, I don't know if it happened to anyone else but sometimes it skips his conversation and goes straight to battle but the spearmen don't spawn making it impossible to beat him. If anyone else encounters this, all you have to do is just go back to the previous area (that's the orange gate icon on the map) and back to Ymir and the spearmen should spawn, although the conversation would still be skipped. Hope this helped anyone :)"

If you find any more bugs that affect the gameplay in negative ways (no audio bugs, or missing moves, please), let me know in the comments and i add them here.
Still here? (Credits)

Both games were available as Steam keys on Amazon US a short while ago, if you're lucky they'll return once more there or here on Steam...

Thanks a lot for sharing dude! I gave the highest reward I could. This game is the most special one for me. Do you have any recommendations on how I can play the entire series of this game, with all the DLCs and characters, on PC nowadays? I need it so much. Thanks in advance!

In every mission, I start with explaining what to do ON THAT LEVEL to get certain endings, before explaining the pick-ups. More as a design choice...

"* Rescue Jean or Nightcrawler. Rescuing Nightcrawler is canon (looking at similarities in comics)"

This line is not where it's supposed to be. It should be the last item in the "Sepulcher" section (Act II's Mephisto's Realm).

aight, thx for the tip will add it later today (9am over here right now ^^)

There is but it only becomes available after the dialogue part. I saw someone on a gamefaqs thread say Cyclops must be on the team at the start of the level, because of this.

Ah right... Isn't there a SAP on that map?
