Introduction
I was playing this game when i realized that there is no in depth walkthrough for this game. All the guides i found always end up in Tower of Self-Refinement so i decided to make one.

I'll try to make this guide not too grind heavy but i can't really promise that for the first few months because you really need to cut down your expenses. You can adjust the guide as you wish, however. These are merely how i did with the game and you don't really have to follow it completely. The game itself requires you to go back and forth to some areas a few times before you can complete it (mostly because you're too low leveled).

I'll also put some monster information and their drop items if it's needed. I won't list them all though.

This guide is text heavy so i'm trying to put some images on it to make it easier to read. I hope you don't mind.
First things first
I think that it'll be easier to put this into QnA section so here goes.

Q: Will there be a game over if i die?
A: Yes, so save often.

Q: How often should i save?
A: I usually did it every few steps and after a battle.

Q: Which person should i choose for my party?
A: Depends on your play style. I myself love glass cannon type so most of my party consists of high attackers and a healer to make sure my attackers can attack smoothly. Luckily, both of my attackers also have reviving skill so they can help to revive party members.

Q: Do i have to follow your party member selection?
A: No, but all strategies i made is using my party member selection. You have to figure out how to kill each bosses if you choose a different party member. At least get Alayna though, she rocks.

Q: How can i increase my Book Reader points?
A: Kill enemies. You'll get BP which counts for book points.

Q: Do i have to pay my debt?
A: Yes, if you want to progress further in the game.

Q: Can i grind my level and kill the three bosses battle in the first month?
A: Probably, but i don't want to test it out since you'll need to have a very high level to do that.

Q: Can i have a roomate which is not in my party?
A: Yes. Talk to the red haired guy near Ted statue in Dungeon of Work. Note that you can only start kicking Randall when you have killed the boss south from your castle.

Q: I follow your guide but i don't have enough money to send to Debt Army.
A: The money i asked to send to Debt Army is your Net Income. You'll get the money back after you advance a month. If you don't have the money, do the easy money trick or send whatever you got.

Q: Where is the easy money trick?
A: Check Reducing Your Debt section where you enter Societyville for the first time or just CTRL+F "===Easy money trick".

Q: Help! I got a status effect but i don't know what it is!
A: It's actually easy to understand them if you played a lot of RPG Maker games.
Reduce physical attack accuracy.
Disable special skill.
There are 2 types of these status effect. One will disappear after battle and the other will not.
Unable to do anything before getting hit.
You can't control this party member and he/she will sometimes attack your party member.
Inflicts damage overtime (every turn in battle and every map change outside battle).
Unable to do anything in the turn (and(or) the next turn) a party member get this status.
I think the others are self explanatory.

Q: What are boats and cars for?
A: It's to satisfy your inner desire. I mean... nothing.
You can see the car in your house and the boat in Port of Possibility.

Q: Why do you have so much HP/MP? I keep on running out of MP because i have to heal my party member!
A: Don't use your party member's healing skill if you want to heal after battle. Use the ones which are not in your party instead.

Q: I did what you said, but i still am running out of MP fast.
A: Conserve your MP as much as possible. If i didn't say how to beat a certain monster in the area, i usually kill it with physical attack (although it has so much HP). Even if you need to use your skill, use the party member's skill which have less MP, unless the monster is very strong.

Q: I find an enemy that's wasting too much MP or too strong to kill.
A: Either run or load your save. It's better to skip that enemy instead of wasting your MP in a dungeon. If you need exp, you can always come back later.

Q: I can't beat this boss with your strategy.
A: There are some bosses which requires luck to beat (since his attack can one or two shot your glass cannon). In that case, you just need to load your save until you're lucky enough. If you don't really like doing that, you might want to skip the dungeon or revising the strategy.

Q: What's the max level in this game?
A: I don't know. My highest party member is lv 68 and she still hasn't capped yet. The max level might be lv 99, although i'm not really sure.

Marriage
You can get married in this game. There are 7 wife candidates in total although you can only marry 6 person. In order to marry your wife candidate, you have to have a specific letter for each person. However, i don't know how to get the said letter for Emily which means you can only marry 5 person in total if you follow this guide.

After you get married, some wife will give you special service and Spouse expenses each month. You also have to keep your wife in your party at all times. There are 2 wife candidates which is not included in your party so they are an exception. Your wife will also stay in your house and pay for their rent share (if there's any).

If you want to marry your wife candidate, just choose Marriage? option when you have her letter.

And here's an additional info from RED MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGER:
Depending on who you marry, you may meet a bug where your mortgage increases and your equity decreases which probably makes paying off the mortgage impossible. Curiously enough, marrying anyone who isn't Cecilia (excluding Lisa & Emily) creates this phenomenon. Perhaps this is the developer's way of telling us who is his OTP? ;)
Books
Books work like an equipment by giving a stat boost just by using it. After you collect enough BP in battle and max the "xxx Reader" skill (you can see it in equipment menu), you'll get a permanent stat boost (around 10% from your stat i think). This way, you can read all the books and obtain all permanent stat boost from the books if you grind for it. Because this permanent stat boost is different from the stat boost which is given by the book, this stat boost can be boosted again after you equip the particular book.

Tip: You can borrow books in the library by talking to Cecelia across the table.

- Head back to Realm of Financia and go north from Castle Sanity to another castle looking building.

Dungeon of Work
- Go to the hole in the north and save before entering.

Promotion Dungeon B1
Note: it's better if Bob reach level 2 before entering this area because most enemies will have weakness to Paperwork which is obtained at level 2.

If you are having trouble in killing the monster with normal damage, use Paperwork. For Boss Encounter (this is a monster name), have Randall casts Whine too. You can also run if you think that you won't be able to beat it.

If you run out of health, use the healing skills of each character.

- Open the chest containing health restoring items to the south of you.
- Open the chest containing a monster (spam Paperwork to it) and status restoring items next to the first chest.
- Open the chest containing New Goal: Get a Promotion in it to the south of the previous chest
- Open the chest containing New Community: Work Acquitances in the northeast area. You have to head east from the red bandanna guy first.
- The boss is in the southeast area. Fight it. Make sure you have full health and save before fighting it.
===Boss fight New Obligations All of my party members are level 3 at this point. Let Bob spam Paperwork and Randall spam physical attack until it died. Heal whenever necessary.

Dungeon of Work
- Return to Castle Sanity.

Castle Sanity
- Talk to the scholar hat guy.
- Press Z on the bed.

Note: From this day onwards, you'll always advance a month whenever you rest in bed.
- Reducing Your Debt

Fight the losing battle.

Month 2 report: First Credit Card Legion: 6974 Second Credit Card Legion: 3102 (lol it increased) Third Credit Card Legion: 0 College Loan Army: 29898

This is gonna be a tough month. Prepare yourself.

Castle Sanity
- Head to the north exit.

Realm of Financia
- Head to the east, to the small house like building.

Port Nostalgia
- Open the crate on top of the Pub building to get New Community: Old Roomates.
- Go to the house in the southeast area (the one with coin sign) and press Z on the book beside your mom to get New Genre: Diet.
- Go to the white house and open the crate to get New Goal: Reclaim the Past.
- Talk to the bad guy near the white house twice to buy 2 Coffees for $20.

- Go to the house in the southwest area (the one without sign) and ask the girl to join your party. You'll need to talk to her twice and choose Interested in joining me? option to do that.

Noteable spot: - You can rest at the inn for $200 without having to advance a month.

- Now go to Relationship Forest.

Relationship Forest
===Enemy with drop items Bad Influence, Trivial Relationship Just spam attack on it. It often attacks in group so it might be slightly hard to kill. Drops: Hot Water

- Head west to see a rock puzzle.
Push the left boulder up and the right boulder... right.
Open the chest to get New Community: Online Forums.

- Head south for another rock puzzle.
Go from the right side since you can't push the first rock from there.
Push the leftmost and rightmost boulder to the right once.
Open the chest to get New Virtue: Thick Skin.

- Head east to get New Goal: Form Friendships from the crate. Don't go to the east because the enemy is way too strong.
- Head west and press Z on the red flower.
- Head north and then press Z on the black thingy.
- Head west to exit the forest.

Realm of Financia
- Head to the house like building.

Societyville
- Go to the northeast corner of the area and open the chest to get New Community: Drinking Buddies.
- Go to the Coffee shop (house with bag sign) and buy a coffee to get Coffee Shop Friends.
- Go to the house on the front of the well and talk to the person inside, Jacob, to get Bicycle Frame.

Note: you can also craft items by talking to him which can lead to "easy" money trick.

===Easy money trick - Buy Lettuce and Bread from the elf to the south of the well. - Craft them into Sandwiches to Jacob - Sell the Sandwiches to the Restaurant east from the elf.

- Use the easy money trick to collect $12146.These will be used for:
  • Paying all Credit Card debts (return to Castle of Sanity, talk to the soldier near the south door, and send reinforcement to First and Second Legion) ($6974 + $3102)
  • Buy Ring of Society in Societyville Store (house with ring sign) ($1000)
  • Buy Ring of Improvement (to be bought later) ($750)
  • Buy at least 4 History books in the book store (house with wand sign next to the house with bag sign) ($30 * 4)
  • Buy 2 Work Charm from the bunny lady next to the house with ring sign on it ($100 * 2)
Don't forget to have some sandwich and left some money when you're doing it.

Note: I know that this is somewhat grindy so if you can't take it, you can skip it and buy at least both the books and Ring of Society.

Note: From now on, you can buy books. Books are a great permanent stat enhancing item. However, you need to max out your "xxx Reader" skill which can be seen in equipment menu to obtain the permanent stat enhance. The said skill can be filled with BP which can be obtained after each battle. I advise you to get EXP book (History) first and use other books after you finished it.

Note: You can also borrow some books from the library. Here's some info from Jargonaut:
Originally posted by "Jargonaut:

To check them out, you need to talk to Cecelia, from the south across the table. Then she will show you a list of books that can be checked out. If you talked to Cecelia from the east, she will just chat with you and you will not be able to check out books.

- Use History books to all of your party members.

Noteable spot: - You can restore your health for $500 and buy some HP restoring items in the Restaurant without having to advance a month. Note that it's cheaper to do it in Port Nostalgia. - You can buy Accessories from the bunny girl beside the house with a ring sign. - You can buy HP restoring items (and its material) from the elf near the well. - You can buy coffee (to increase MP) in the house with a bag sign. This will only restore Bob's MP instantly. - You can craft items in Jacob's house.

After you paid all of your Credit Card debts, return to Societyville with Ring of Society.
Actually, you can still explore more of this place, but i suggest that you get another party member before doing it.
- Getting Your Party Members
Exit Societyville and head west to enter a Tower.

Tower of Self-Improvement
- Talk to the guy with red bandanna and buy Ring of Improvement.
- Go to the portal to the north and go to Floor of the Arts.

Floor of the Arts
- Talk to the girl to make her join your party.
- Go to the house in the northwest area of the map (the one with wand sign)
- Return to Societyville.

Societyville
- Go to the house in the northwest area.

Societyville Public Library
- Talk to the yellow haired girl to get Library Card. This is an item which will raise your experience at the cost of reduced stat.
- Talk to her again and choose What's upstairs?.
- Go upstairs and talk to her again to make her join your party.

Here's my party member for now:
Bob lv 4 Randall lv 4 Cecelia lv 7 Alayna lv 6

The enemies here are quite strong. You have to use personal skills to kill it since they resist work and human skill. They also can stun (shock) you a lot. Luckily, their encounter rate is low.

- Go through the right stair.
- Inspect the north hole.
- Go upstairs twice.
- Go through the northenmost hole near the alleyway.
- Go upstairs thrice.
- Inspect the chest.
===Boss fight Negative Report, Unexpected Bill, Rate Hike, Blown Utility, Twist of Fate Turn 1: Bob uses Dedication on Unexpected Bill Emily uses Concrete View Cecelia uses Problem Solver Alayna guards Turn 2 (clean up): Bob guards (actually my Bob dies in this turn so i make Alayna ressurect him) Emily uses Concrete View Cecelia uses Problem Solver Alayna guards There are a lot of enemies in this fight and they can stun (shock) you a lot which can hinder you to attack.

- Inspect the chest (again).
===Boss fight Family Tragedy Kill it with personal attacks. It should die in two turns. Funnily, it's easier than the previous fight.

You'll get New Community: Support Network.

- Go downstairs 3 times and inspect the hole.
- Go upstairs twice.
- Use the right stair.
- Open the chest to get New Goal: Volunteering.
This goal doubles item effect.
- Go upstairs.

- Head down to the hole in the northeast corner.
- Head down the hole (again) to find a chest containing New Virtue: Hope.
- Head down the hole.
- Head down the hole beside you.

- Go upstairs twice.
- Head down the hole in the middle of the area.
- Head down the stairs and you should be in the entrance.

That's it for now. We'll come back here later after we are strong enough to fight the last boss.

Since the next area is quite tough, we better call it a day to restore our MP.
Pay $200 to go to sleep (don't advance the month for this).
- Depression Bastion
Head all the way south in Sea of Ambition until you find a crumbled castle.

Depression Bastion
My party:
Bob lv 34 Emily lv 35 Cecelia lv 36 Alayna lv 34

As i said earlier, the monsters in this area are strong. I usually do:
Bob -> Persistence (Dedication if there is Loss of Joy)
Emily -> Concrete View
Cecelia -> Problem-solver
Alayne -> Artistic Surge
combo if there are more than one enemies (except Chemical Imbalance)

Use physical attacks otherwise.
Make sure you're using virtue which is strong against aggression because Loss of Joy's Doubt of Depression is very strong.
Prioritize attacking Chemical Imbalance. They have a high damage and low HP (and weak against physical attacks).

- Go to the west area and head all the way north to find a chest containing New Virtue: Hope.
- Head to the south area twice, head west, and then north to go upstairs.
- Inspect the crystal.

- Go downstairs and head all the way to the south to go upstairs.
- Inspect the crystal.
- Press Z on the south "wall" to find a chest containing New Genre: Neuroscience.
This book reduces skill cost!
- Go to the south exit and return to the entrance.

- Follow the path to the east to find a stair.
- Open the chest beside it to find Blue Letter.
- Go upstairs.
- Inspect the crystal.
- Return to the entrance. You can do it easily by pressing Z on the "wall" south from the crystal.

- Head all the way to the north until you find an area with pebbles on the right side of the wall (two area north from the entrance).
- Inspect the pebble.

- Follow the path until you reach a stair.
- Go upstairs.
- Return to the entrance. You can do it easily by pressing Z on the "wall" north from the crystal.

- Head all the way to the north until you find a chest.
- Inspect the chest.
===Boss fight Empty Shell He is the bigger version of Loss of Joy. This will be a long and tough fight, especially if you don't have a main healer like me. In my case, i decided to make Bob a healer, Cecelia the reviver, and Alayna the main dps. Emily can do whatever she wants. I also make Bob uses Dedication in the first and last turn to make sure the boss is killed. The Depression buff can be ignored because Bob can't cure it (and it doesn't reduce too much HP anyway).

- Open the chest to get New Goal: A Meaningful Life.

Return to Castle Society, advance a month to get a key in the next section.

Bring some MP restoring items with you (preferably Coffee). This will be a long fight.
Make sure you use virtues which are strong against stress. At this point, you should have Hope (virtue) which can stand against more than one element.
Use personal skill to Uncertainty.
Prioritize killing Uncertainty because it has a nasty AoE attack.
Use any personal skill except Persistence and Problem-solver to Illusion of Futility.
If there are multiple enemies, kill Panic last because it has high HP.

- Head right.
- Head north when you reach an intersection.
- Follow the path and head south when you reach an intersection until you find a stair.
- Go upstairs.

- Walk to the south for a cutscene.
===Boss fight 2 Debt Commanders Spam it with personal skills. Debt Commander B attacks three times. Be careful since it might kill your party member.

- Head to the west area and head south to find a coffin containing New Goal: Find Happiness.
- Return to the floor entrance and keep on heading south until you find a stair.
- Go downstairs.

- Follow the path until you find a coffin containing New Virtue: Self-Awareness.
- Go upstairs and return to the floor entrance.

- Head west and head south when you reach an intersection.
- Go downstairs.

- Follow the leftmost path to find a coffin containing New Genre: Sociology.
This book has HP Regen!
- Return to the previous intersection in the previous floor and head west.

- Inspect the coffin you find on the way to get Fetch Quest.
- Follow the path and go upstairs.

- Talk to the grim reaper.
===Boss fight Empty Life Phase 1: Bob uses Insight Emily uses Multi-Tasking Cecelia uses Organization or Reassurance whenever a party member dies. Alayna guards or uses Inspired Reassurance whenever a party member dies. The boss weaks against work skills in this phase. It will keep on using insta death skills and physical attacks in this turn. You can use Alayna's Inspired Reassurance as long as her MP is still above 320. It will change phase after you drain half of its HP. Phase 2: Bob uses Dedication Emily uses Concrete View or Breaktime or Rethink Lifes if Cecelia dies. Cecelia uses Introspection or Reassurance whenever a party member dies. Alayna uses Artistic Flow This boos weaks against personal skills. It will keep on using AoE attacks so make sure that you kill it fast. Before the fight, make sure Bob's MP is at least 350. My Bob's MP is very low so i had to use Coffee before the fight.

You can't save here so proceed carefully.

- Head north to trigger a fight.
===Boss fight Personified Vice Spam it with physical attacks.

You'll get MacGuffin.

- Follow the east path.
===Boss fight Something Something Frugality Spam it with physical attacks. Have Alayna guard because she can be killed with two attacks.

You'll get Some Experience.

- Return to the spot where you fight Personified Vice and follow the west path.
===Boss fight Debt, I Guess Spam it with physical attacks. Have Alayna guard because she can be killed with two attacks.

You'll get Some Gold.

- Head north.
===Boss fight Statistics and an Image File Spam it with any low MP skill.

You'll get Item Slot.
There will be another boss battle in the north. Make sure you have enough MP.

- Head north and talk to the grim reaper.
===Boss fight Empty Life It's better if you switch Emily with Lisa or Caleb for the heals, seriously. Emily doesn't really help in this fight. Bob uses Dedication or whenever anyone is attacked. Emily uses Concrete View or Rethink Lifes if Cecelia dies. Cecelia uses Introspection or Reassurance whenever a party member dies. Alayna uses Artistic Flow or Inspired Reassurance whenever you run out of Rethink Lifes. This fight depends on how often Alayna can use Artistic Flow so make sure she doesn't die. If you have a main healer, Bob can help dish out some damage too. The only problem i have in this fight is the fact that i don't have enough MP for Alayna so i have to spend a few turns to give an MP restoring item to her (and then this party member dies, and that, and so on).

Congrats for "beating the game"!

Afterwords
Wow, this guide is very long. I actually want to put more than one places in one section but it ended up weird so i split them off. This make the table of contents to be very long. The guide itself is also way too detailed, although i hope that i didn't mistook between east and west since i tend to do that.

Actually, i want to remove my level and boss information at some point, especially when i just want to say "attack it with your strongest attack" or something. However, it will cause some inconsistencies if i do that so i decided not to do it.

The guide itself is actually not really a 100% guide, since i fail to know Emily's Letter location and how to marry Lisa. There might be more than this, although i'm not really sure.

Since this guide is very long, i tend to make more mistake than ever so i'm sorry for any grammar mistakes. I'll be glad if you can point out and correct them for me.

Anyway, i hope that this guide will help you to finish the game.

@No One You Know: maybe, if we live old enough to see it happens ;)

Maybe Cubicle Quest 2 will have gender reassignment surgery for the MC so he can finally get with Lisa.

@No One You Know: oh, i guess i was in denial and thought that you can marriage her through other means, hahah.

She rejects the marriage proposal and hints that it's a gender issue.

@No One You Know: will she say that she canf be married that way? Tbh i kinda forgot almost everything in the game to confirm anything :o

You can't marry Lisa because she's a lesbian. Get the Pink Letter and go talk to her.

@equ3striangam3r: glad you figured it out! I must have forgotten about that when i edited the guide after i found out about the 18 month thing... iirc, all instances when you were supposed to sleep in the guide was meant to advance a month, but i modify it after i figure out that there is an extra bonus for beating the game in less than 18 months. I don't know if they will accept it if you are in the 18th month though. I hope you'll get the bonus :)

I'll edit the guide for now to mention that you need to advance a month to get the key. Thanks for the info!

@aquatorrent: I was able to get the Key of Debt finally but the only way I was able to get the chest to appear was by advancing the month. I tried staying at the inn at Port Nostalgia nearly 10 times and it never showed up. My game is now at 1 year and 6 months. I don't know if this will prevent me from getting the beat the game in under 18 months bonus or not. Your guide was a little unclear about where to sleep before going to the Fortress of Discontent. You just said to return to Castle of Sanity and pay $200 to go to sleep. I assumed you meant at Port Nostalgia. However then you said to grab the Key of Debt from the chest by your bed and then it wasn't there. So that's where you lost me. If I needed to advance the month then I guess I'm okay but you needed to make that more clear. Just a heads up.

@equ3striangam3r: hello! I'm sorry but it has been so long since i played the game so i dont remember much about it anymore. The only options that i can advise you is to either sleep (iirc, some contents like promotions are only available if you sleep enough times) or explore some other dungeons past the fortress of discontent. Maybe there are some requirements that you need from there. Hope it helps! :)

I've been following your guide and everything has been spot on so far until now. I have reached the part where I'm supposed to go back and unlock the Fortress of Discontent but the chest with the Key of Debt hasn't appeared in my room. I have followed everything you've done and gone through all of the dungeons that you did. I may have bought a few more items here and there but I doubt that would have anything to do with it. I just don't know how I can get the Key of Debt now. Please help. The only other thing I can find online says to pay off the debt and I went ahead and payed off the remaining 2,000 and some odd dollars but it still didn't show up.
