Zombrex Guide
By DeepRed
Hey there!

You worried you won't get enough Zombrex to get through the game, saving Katey and what not?

To complete the game, you need 7 Zombrex total for a 'perfect' savefile (ending S, all survivors saved) (Katey - your daughter - needs 4, a certain someone needs 1 and a survivor will need 2. Total: 7)

This guide is here to show you where to easily get the Zombrex I normally grab (it's not all Zombrex by a long shot, but it's enough to get you past the game).

Zombrex - What is it?
Zombrex is a kind of drug that's used to prevent people from turning into zombies. Each dose lasts for 24 hours and an overdose is deadly. Katie needs Zombrex every single day during the entire game.
You need to give Katey her Zombrex between 7:00 and 8:00 AM, every day.

There's 2 ways to know it's time for her dose:

FIRST: Stacey always calls you, regardless of what you're doing, at 4:00 AM each day to inform you that you should go and grab some.

SECOND: When she doesn't require it, she sits normally.
When it's time to give her Zombrex, she leans forward and looks a little worried/sad.

Or just check the time (T on a keyboard).

Worried you won't be able to find it? Worry not! I'm here to assist you!
Zombrex and You - Where to obtain, who needs?
A total of 7 Zombrex is required for a 'perfect' run (Ending S, all survivors saved and alive).

Do note that no, Zombrex does NOT respawn. You can only get each one once/playthrough.

NOTE: NO, THIS IS NOT A LIST OF ALL ZOMBREX IN THE GAME. THOSE ARE JUST THE - IN MY OPINION - EASIEST ONES TO GET.

AT PRESENT TIME, THERE ARE NO PICS/YOUTUBE VIDEOS. I WILL ADD THE LATER AT SOME POINT. PROBABLY WHEN I STOP BEING TOO LAZY TO DO SO.

NOTE: Even if the guide says (e.g) 4:00 AM, it might be a few minutes later (normally about 5-10 minutes). Wait around in any area until you get the message (except for the one where the Survivor/Psychopath is gonna spawn).

Here's a rundown of where to obtain them (rather, the ones I normally go for):

ROY'S MART: This is the first Zombrex you will get. Period. The other Zombrex won't spawn until you get this one. You need to defeat 3 looters in order to obtain this one. They're not hard, even at level 1. Just grab a fire axe and whack away at them (or any other weapon, really). Once all 3 are done, use the key obtained in the cutscene on the door to the right of the counter. It's on the desk, near some Orange Juice. They also respawn in various stores over the game, giving an easy 1500-3000 PP. So that's neat.

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 1-

This is Katey's 1st Zombrex.

YUCATAN CASINO: Is it Day 1, 4:00 AM or later? Go to Yucatan Casino and defeat Ted and tame (or kill) Snowflake.
If it's before 4:00 AM, still go there (just without the boss battle). Just make sure you got Zombrex 1 first or this one won't spawn.
In the middle of the casino, there's a Lucky Marbles minigame. You can jump on the giant steps on the sides of it (careful: falling damages Chuck!). Once at the top of the steps, check the lantern - there's a LMG and a Zombrex here.

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 2-

This is Katey's 2nd Zombrex.

SLOT RANCH CASINO: The third one you'll want to get is in Slot Ranch Casino.
Once you get there (from Royal Flush Plaza), stick to the left side until you get to back stage.
Here, you'll need to climb (read: jump) the boxes. Jump up the first one you can, turn around until another one you can jump to, then jump to that one. There's a Zombrex not far from there.

ALTERNATE THIRD:

AMERICANA CASINO: Do you like jumping? Because we're gonna do a LOT of jumping. I don't like jumping, so I tend to ignore this one. Still, before I remembered the above one, this was my 'go to' Zombrex.

Head to Americana Casino (specifically, the Bennie Jack's BBQ Shack). Take the stairs to the right and kill whatever zombies are up there. Next, climb on the edge and turn towards the nearby lamp. Jump on it. Yes, I'll wait. Oh, you're done? Good.
Jump on the remaining lamps (note: falling down hurts you AND forces you to do redo the jumps you made thus far) until you reach the end. There's a Zombrex, some money, a Broadsword, gift for Katey and a Magazine up here.

If you want to grab both of them - go for it. In that case, ignore Zombrex 7.

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 3-

This is Jared David's first Zombrex.

You can do those 2 (Zombrex 2 and 3) in quick succession and I highly advice you do so.

ROYAL FLUSH PLAZA: Jared is a Survivor who was bitten by a zombie (or, y'know, multiple...). You can find him in Wily Travels (Royal Flush Plaza, second floor). He cannot fight, so having the Leadership magazine is a great help. His mission is called 'Once bitten' and starts at 7:35 PM on day 1. Bring him back to the safehouse as soon as possible (if you lack the Leadership magazine, he can lean on your shoulder to move faster, but I advice against it). If you lack the leadership magazine, you can always bring another Survivor there with a weapon (again, I advice against it).

Once back in the safe house, get your PP and get moving.

Fourth one is from a Rescue Mission. It's called Code Blue.

SILVER STRIP: On the 1st day, at 10:00 PM, bring a spare weapon and head to Silver Strip. Specifically, One Little Duck Bingo Hall (in case you got the Leadership Magazine, it's in there. If not, check the map. Once you exit Royal Flush Plaza, go north. Basically.)
A survivor will die (scripted) and Chuck has to convince the other one (Sven) that it's pointless. After a bit of arguing, Sven will agree to come with you. Give him a weapon and keep his stupid behind alive. Once you're back in the Safe Room, he'll give you 1 dose Zombrex.

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 4-
This is Katey's 3rd Zombrex. Only 3 more Zombrex to go!

ROYAL FLUSH PLAZA: The fifth Zombrex we're gonna get isn't until 11:00 PM day 2. Hang out anywhere but the Safe Room and Royal Flush Plaza and wait for a mission to start called 'Mail Order Zombrex'. Examine the cart that appeared out of nowhere in the mall. A cutscene will trigger after which you'll have to defeat a psychopath called Carl. He is, in my opinion, one of the 3 easiest in the game. Once defeated, you'll get a Zombrex (you don't need to pick it up - it's automatically handed to you).

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 5-
This is Jared's 2nd (and last) Zombrex he'll need. Awesome!

SAFE ROOM: During Day 3, at 11:00 AM, head back to the Safe House. Jared will explain he'll soon need his daily dose of Zombrex (you have until 3:00 PM to give it to him). Hand him the Zombrex and he'll not turn and also not be bothering you for the rest of the game. Great!

SILVER STRIP: The sixth Zombrex we'll obtain is from another rescue mission. This one is called Hunger Pains and starts at 2:00 AM on the 3rd day. Head to Silver Strip (specifically, Dining at Davey's). There's no food in there, so you must bring something (I usually bring a beer). Talk to the survivor (Richard Kelly) and hand him the food. Once he's done, hand him a weapon, get him back to the Safe Room and voila, you're done! That's Zombrex 6!

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 6-

This is Katey's 4th and last Zombrex.

Wait, that's 6 Zombrex and I said you need 1 more. Did I lie? MAYBE.
(No, I didn't).

SAFE ROOM: At 9:00 PM on day 3, an unmarked mission will appear in the Safe House. Make sure you got some Whiskey or Vodka (NOTHING ELSE IS ALLOWED) and head to the Cafeteria in there (right up the stairs, first door on your left). Remember Sven we rescued for an earlier Zombrex? He's in a bit of a pickle and asks for something to treat wounded.
Chuck explains there's probably nothing, so he asks for some booze (Whiskey or Vodka, specifically). Give him either one (he'll drink it instead of using it...?) and he'll give you a Zombrex as a thanks.

-ACQUIRED ZOMBREX 7-

This is TK's first - and only - required Zombrex.

If you're not going for ending S, or got both the 3rd Zombrex and the alternate version, ignore this one.

Of course, if you're a cheapskate (and filthy rich), you can always buy Zombrex in pawnshops ($25,000 x amount you've bought. So 2nd one costs $50k, 3rd one $75k etc). A total of $525k is needed to buy all required Zombrex, excluding 1st one which is always free. You have fun buying that!)

Yes, I know there's more Zombrex, but those 7 (in my opinion) the easiest to obtain for a 'perfect' playthrough.
