Red Box = No collectables. Just hints or lore.
Yellow Line = This connects the areas via shortcuts.
Yellow Line becoming Red = This shortcut is only accessed from the yellow side.

There are:
24 Secret Shards
8 Raft Pieces
4 Forbidden Keys
3 Force Wands
3 Dynamites
3 Ice Rings
3 Chains
3 Blue Bandanas
3 Trackers
3 Protective Amulets
3 Tomes
and 7 collectable costumes.

This is definitely great but there is something you didn't consider. There are actually more than 24 places you can get secret shards. But when you've collected them all the remaining ones get replaced with cave scrolls and when you've discovered all caves those get replaced by yellow hearts. I have updated your map to show all the Shard locations. http://imgur.com/a/2czBO
