Commerce Court Complex [RICO]

Commerce Court is a large office block located in Toronto Ontario and serves as the Headquarters of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

The first building (now Commerce Court North) opened in 1931 as the Headquarters of the "Canadian Bank of Commerce". It was designed by the Canadian firm "Pearson and Darling" with the American bank specialists "York and Sawyer" as consulting architects. The 34 story tower is clad in Limestone and was the tallest building in the British Empire/Commonwealth for roughly 30 years until 1962. The tower also has an observation deck though it has been closed for quite sometime. The tower is also known for being the most opulent headquarters in Canada for its time.

In 1972 three other towers were added to the Complex. Commerce Court West which is the stainless steel 57 story tower, Commerce Court East and Commerce Court South standing at 13 floors and 5 floors respectively. Commerce Court West was the tallest tower in Canada from 1972 - 1976.
