What Faction?

Firstly and most importantly you must choose your faction (ie, America, Germany and Russia) and decide on which gun you want to use. You generally want to be a sniper on the faction you play most, but there is no harm choosing another faction. I would suggest either America or Germany as the M1903 is a very decent gun and the Kar98k is most likely the best Bolt Action weapon in the game. There is also the Mosin Nagant 1890-30 which is not a bad gun as it was the first OHK (One Hit Kill) rifle i had. Although once i got the feel of the M1903 and Kar98k i never looked back. To me the Mosin has sloppy iron sights and poor feedback but this is just personal preference so feel free to choose which ever gun you feel like. So out of all of this i would highly recommend the Kar98k as i love the iron sights on this gun and the M1903 which has surprisingly good sights and good feedback. you may not like the M1903 iron sights at first but once you get to know them they are very effective, i'll talk about about iron sights later on in this guide. Also don't forget the Mosin Nagant 1890-30 because after all we don't want Russia without any Recon's.

Recon or Infantry?
Now you should have decided on a faction and if you haven't then you might wanna get that done first before you read this. Okay so first off are you gonna stay as Infantry or Start off as Recon, also you might wanna grind as Infantry and gradually make your way up to recon whilst getting all the weapons and weapon mods if you don't want to pay for a recon. Now for the pro's and cons of Recon and Infantry.

First off as you may all know infantry have incredibly more spawns than recons as infantry will die more because they are meant to attack capture points while recons will generally sit back at a distance picking off targets. although sometimes you will get the occasion where recons may have rush in and take points because the infantry are at times to lazy to bother or to inexperienced.

Infantry also have more inventory space and vehicles, which in the long run is good if your staying infantry. While playing infantry i'd advise ranking up your specialist ribbon for your chosen gun as it's a lot easier and you have more spawn tickets to use whilst ranking up. The good thing about recon is you have the option of 3 extra scopes two of them 8.0x and one of them a fine cross lower magnification and better weapon mods mods which i will talk about later. You also have a different APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) compared to infantry and the same motorbike. Plus a good variety of camouflaged clothing which i would suggest investing in once your're all setup. But as usual you have less vehicles compared to infantry, because recon are after all quite over-powered.

So to sum it up
~Infantry
+ More player and vehicle spawns
+Easier to grind ribbons with
+Access to more vehicles
+Many camoflagued uniforms
-Don't have access to 8.0x scopes
-Don't have access to higher damage mods (ie. Chrome Moly 4150 and Chrome Lined Barrel

~Recon
+Have access to 8.0x scopes
+Have access to a powerful Armoured Car (usually with a low calibre tank gun) (ie. SDKFZ 222)
+Many camoflagued uniforms
+Can use a Thompson believe it or not wouldn't recommend it though
-Less player and vehicle spawns
-Less vehicles

Getting Started
So once you have sorted out which faction, role (ie, Infantry and Recon) and gun you will want to rank up the specialist ribbon to 12 for that weapon so that you have unlocked all the mods. then as i said previously you will also have to rank up your character to recon if you don't want to have to spend money. I'd recommend ranking your character up with a Thomson, MP40 or PPsH as it will be a long grind plus make sure to save up you're money to be able to buy the weapon and weapon mods. Just a reminder that Heroes & Generals is not a Pay2Win game so you don't need to pay for anything if you don't want to, i have played this game for more than a year now and haven't spent a cent on it. Also don't forget if you have spent your time and effort grinding for a gun then you will likely have a better unstanding of the game and do better than your opponent that has just payed for a gun but has not gained any experience. Anyway i will stop going off on separate topics and get back into the guide.

Here's a picture of the Kar98k specialist ribbon
A Snipers Objective
As a sniper your main objective is cover your team mates, by taking out enemy troops attacking a capture point, alert them of enemy planes and tanks and spot tanks for your tankers to destroy. Also try your best to take out enemy players trying to destroy your tanks as this will help you in assaulting a point plus you will gain an XP reward for doing it in the Hallowes Update. Also killing any enemy snipers suppressing your team mates. When the enemy team are proceeding to attack a point make sure you have clear view of the capture point that is under conflict and the immediate enemy spawn point. Once you have this position pick off targets at the back of the proceeding enemy assault, if there are multiple targets in a vehicle take out the driver as the vehicle will stop allowing you to shoot other enemy players in the vehicle.
Finding A Perfect Sniping Location
As a sniper location is everything it grants you the ability to see without being seen. If you find a perfect sniper location you are bound to do well. So in this chapter i will tell you how to find that perfect location. Firstly for the 3 recons they all have different camo's for different surroundings for Germany their starter camouflage is a all rounder and does well in all environmental and urban surroundings making it the best starter camouflage for recon. Then the American camouflage works best in green grassy surroundings. Lastly the Russian recon's camouflage works best in dry crops which the game has a lot of in the maps. To start you want to be able to find a spot where the point being attacked is and the enemies immediate spawn are visible then from there you want to find a suitable enclosed location matching you camouflage. Once you have done this you should be picking em off one by one. In the new map updates Reto have released the have added many more obstacles mainly trees to block your view as to try and balance out the game a little more. Although these updates have been released there are still plenty of locations although they will be harder to find, make sure to try and find some unique spots where no one will expect you to be and try to stay away from obvious spots as you will likely be seen by an enemy recon, have enemy infantry drive up to you and kill you or get an explosive tank shell to the head. Lastly make sure you move spot every 5-10 kills the further away you are from a point the less you will have to move, plus having badges such as Ghillie and Camouflage you will be extremely hard to find.
Weapon Mods

So once you've sorted out your Guns and class it's time to get the mods for your rifle. Now as you may know that all BA's can be modded to a One Hit KIll (OHK) or (OSK) One Shot Kill, there the same thing either way. So i will go through the mods for infantry first.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For German infantry to get a OHK rifle you need 3 mods, Ammunition, Bolt and Barrel. These are:
-Anschusspatrone s.S or
-S.m.K.Hart
The Anschusspatrone s.S type ammunition is long range ammunition as it offers good damage at greater ranges and better precision.

The S.m.K.Hart offers about 10 more damage than the Anschusspatrone s.S but this is more close range ammunition as at a distance this ammunition has decreased range, precision and stability.
For infantry i would recommend the S.m.K.Hart because until you become recon you don't have the better barrel that offers 10 more damage. So to say if you had the Anschusspatrone s.S on and infantry with Bolt and Barrel upgrade you would get exactly 105 damage compared to if you had the S.m.K.Hart ammo where you'd get around 115 damage. The reason i'm saying this is because you have a margin of error with the Anschusspatrone s.S ammo and if you don't hit square on the chest you aren't guaranteed a OHK but if you have the S.m.K.Hart ammo you are undoubtedly guaranteed a OHK anywhere on the torso (not including arms). This applies to all 3 rifles, so i won't have to explain it again. Plus depending on whether they have a Heavy Set badge on and what level the badge is you will want to be able to do more damage

Ok then you've got the
-Scout II and
-Heavy bolt
-Plus the S.m.K.Hart or Anschusspatrone s.S then your gun is OHK

And a scope is next i would recommend the (German#1) as to me it's the clearest infantry scope but the (T-post) is good as well although their both 4.2x zoom so it doesn't matter except the disadvantage of the (T-post) is you have to shoot at the intersection and you view is partially obscured.

Then there's skin which just a cool look for you gun and doesn't add any physical advantage to your guns damage, range, precision, stability or Rate of Fire (RoF). But they are a good method of camouflage although some of them cost a fortune. I would recommend the DunkelGrau (32,000) if you don't want to pay a lot.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The OHK mods for the M1903 Springfield are
-Bertie Clay MkIII (h) offers about 10 more damage than the Match M72 but this is more close range ammunition as at a distance this ammunition has decreased precision, stability and damage.
-Match M72 type ammunition is long range ammunition as it offers good damage at greater ranges and better precision.

And for a cheap but good gun skin i would get the Army Green at 32,000

The next two mods are the
-Scout II and
-Heavy Bolt
-Plus the Bertie Clay MkIII (h) or Match M72 and your gun is OHK

Then You have a choice of trigger and scope. The Disadvantage with the American scope is it's only a 2.2x zoom meaning it acts like an 'ACOG' but is helpful in some situations. I would reccommend the M84 (German#1) Recticle as it is a clear recticle to shoot with unlike the (T-post) where you have to shoot at the intersection and you view is partially obscured. A trigger isn't needed as it won't affect anything except fire rate and it is just one more thing you have to pay for repairs.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lastly the Mosin Nagant 1891-1930
The mods for the MN are
-Type D Heavy Ball offers about 10 more damage than the 7N1 Sniper but this is more close range ammunition as at a distance this ammunition has decreased range, precision and stability.
-7N1 Sniper type ammunition is long range ammunition as it offers good damage at greater ranges and better damage and precision

Then the last two mods are the
-Scout II and
-Heavy Bolt
-Type D Heavy Ball or 7N1 Sniper and your gun is OHK

Then the choice of a scope. As with the Kar98k and M1903 i would reccommend the (German#1) scope with a 3.5x zoom.

For a cheap skin that i wouldn't reccommend would be the Birch 32,000, Which offers no camouflage

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for German Recon you have a choice of another barrel for your weapon which will do around 120 damage
For German Recon the OHK barrel is the
-Chrome Lined Barrel

For German Recon Scopes you have a choice of three they are
-Zielacht (German #4) 8.0x Zoom
-Zielacht (Fine Cross) 8.0x Zoom
-ZF-39 (Fine Cross) 4.2x Zoom
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for American Recon you have a choice of another barrel for your weapon which will do around 120 damage
For American Recon the OHK barrel is the
-Chrome Moly 4150

For American Recon Scopes you have a choice of two they are
-Unertl (Fine Duplex) 8.0x Zoom
-Unertl (Fine Cross) 8.0x Zoom
-M84 (Fine Cross) 2.2x Zoom
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now for Russian Recon you have a choice of another barrel for your weapon which will do around 120 damage
For Russian Recon the OHK barrel is the
-Chrome Moly 4150

For Russian Recon Scopes you have a choice of two they are
-Zielacht (German #4) 8.0x Zoom
-Zielacht (Fine Cross) 8.0x Zoom
-PU (Fine Cross) 3.5x Zoom

Target Leading
Deflection is a technique used for effectively propelling a projectile at a moving target, also known as "leading the target", i.e. shooting ahead of a moving target so that the target and projectile will collide. So this is probably one of the most complicated things to learn in the game, And may take a while to completely master but i will show you how. Before i start there are some elements to the game that may void these techniques such as lag, latency and ping(server response time). Now if your playing on a 50 ping server you should be fine with the techniques i will show but 150ms ping upwards may decrease the effectiveness of these techniques, so just keep that in mind. Plus to check ping press F7 in-game.

This video shows where to aim in front of a motorbike going full speed. This should apply from 0-50 metres any further away then 100 metres the target leading changes.

This video shows where to shoot at a running soldier. This will apply up to 50 metres from there on you will have to aim slightly further in front of the target.
Conclusion
Ok well i hoped this guide helped you get started as a sniper and become a pro. leave a comment if you have any questions or ideas for the guide and don't forget to LIKE, FAVOURITE, SHARE and leave a COMMENT if this guide helped you out.

Recon gets access to the Higher Power scopes and reticles, S-Mines, as well as the Armored Cars. Not much else. I'd stay infantry now unless you want to use the Armored Cars and S-Mines for some reason (They both suck).

What is the difference of Recon or Infantry? All I read was that Recon gets less space.

In the vehicles section you put infantry for americans and russians instead of recon.

@The Big Meek Scope sway for me isn't such a problem as i have learn't how to combat it. and as H&G isn't that realistic generally when the crosshair goes over your target then you will likely hit if you shoot. Realistically doing this wil;l not promise you a hit. the rule is you take the scope when you have the crosshair moving around on the target not as the crosshair is moving from one side to another.

But as Nymcom's guide mentions you will wan't to be crouching or prone, preferably prone as you will get the least sway but if you can't prone then crouching will do as you will have less sway then standing, and always make sure to be patient and time your shots. if you can don't take a shot as soon as you see the target as you will likely miss and will give away your position which is thje main thing you do not wan't to do. Also make sure you sprint bar is full.(also mentioned in Nymcom's guide.

If you got time check Nymcom's guide out it's short and imformative.
