Introduction
The Big Game Hunter
Sir Nigel Purdy Longshot is a big game hunter and explorer and is now hunting you! This British trapper is a pro at long ranged combat, but can still handle himself if you try to sneak up on the old man.

In the battle, Nigel is used as a spotter, marksman and trapper, which can be a real pain to deal with. He comes complete with with a digging machete, a revolver, and his rifle called Nellie.

Because Nigel is a skill role hero, he is able to place bounce and speed pads for getting to high locations and mobility, as well as caltrops, bear traps, and fake blocks to set devilish traps to hinder the enemies that come rushing at you.

It may take some time to "git gud" at Nigel (I, myself have 400 hours of him), but as long as you have at least reasonable aim and the persistence to master Nigel, I'm sure you will do fine. I do not claim to be the best Nigel player out there, but I do think of myself as somebody who has mastered the art that is the Nigel main, and I hope that someday, when you're doing MLG Nigel things, that you remember this guide.

PRIMARY WEAPON - Nellie
Boom Headshot. Your primary weapon is a high-powered, slow-shooting sniper rifle called Nellie. Because of its insane range capabilities, Nellie is vital if you want to do anything at long range, but do keep in mind that your damage gets less and less the further away from your target you are. Nellie has a clip size of four (without perks), has a ammo capacity of twenty seven and takes three seconds to reload.

Main Fire
"I say, dear chaps! Left click to fire a singular bullet that does quite the amount of damage." This shot can be vital to killing an enemy before you have to reload, so use it well.

  • Bodyshot damage: 40
  • Headshot damage: 60
  • Range: 100 and more blocks to do least damage
  • Speed: 500 blocks per second

    Tips N Tricks
  • Don't use this main fire to try to snipe people, despite it being a sniper rifle (use the alt fire), instead use this to try to get some close range hits onto big targets like Cogwheel because it packs quite a punch unlike your secondary weapon.

  • If you use spot prey (see below) on the enemy base and you see a radar just behind a wall or something like that, you can actually mine it out and destroy it by using Nellie.

  • If you notice your crosshairs turn red at any stage of the game that means that if you shoot at that moment, you WILL hit your target unless you have high ping. Yellow crosshairs mean the same thing but it does much less damage.

    Alt Fire
This alt fire enables you to zoom in using Nellie's scope and has the potential to make your enemies report you for using aimbot. Do keep in mind that when you are using Nellie's alt fire that your FOV (field of view) gets decreased to it is very easy to be snuck up on (I cry every time)

  • Bodyshot damage: 40
  • Headshot damage: 60
  • Range: 100 and more blocks to do least damage
  • Speed: 500 blocks per second
  • FOV: 20

    Tips N Tricks
  • When you are moving while scoped in you actually move half the speed you normally do so try not to show off your parkour skills while doing it.

  • The crosshairs for Nellie will start off large when you scope in, but they will quickly lessen so that you can get that MLG headshot you want to get.

  • While you are moving and scoped in, the crosshairs will stay at their max size until you stop moving. This prevents you from getting perfect accuracy while doing things like falling and also makes mid-air headshots a PAIN to get.

SECONDARY WEAPON - Revolver
Woah There. Nigel has more then a rifle in his sneaky arsenal. Nigel's revolver doesn't look like much but it can pack quite a punch if you have good aiming. it has a clip size of six and a ammo capacity of thirty six. The revolver takes two short seconds to reload.

MAIN FIRE
By left clicking, the revolver shoots one bullet in the direction you're aiming. This is can be fired pretty quickly and has a short reload time so don't worry about being super precise with it.

  • Bodyshot damage: 18
  • Headshot damage: 25
  • Speed: 400 blocks per second

    Tips N Tricks
  • If you have gotten an enemy to very low health at mid-range using Nellie, try swapping out to your revolver so you don't have to reload and risk the enemy getting away.

  • When you're fighting somebody like O.P or Astarella, it can be a good idea to switch from Nellie when you're in close to them and use the revolver because it is much more easy to aim with and mobile heroes like Astarella have very small amounts of health

  • unlike what you might think, you don't need to scope in that much when using revolver. The revolver is very accurate when you learn to use it well.

    ALT-FIRE
The alt-fire of the revolver works in basically the same way as Nellie. By right clicking, you scope in on where you're pointing at the time to help you aim at long ranges.

  • Bodyshot damage: 18
  • Headshot damage: 25
  • FOV: 25

    Tips N Tricks
  • The alt-fire on the revolver can be quite useful for sniping at mid to long range when compared with the main-fire which is more used for close to mid range.

  • It can be very hard to nail headshots with the main-fire of the revolver but with the alt-fire the crosshairs will get extremely close if you don't shoot for a while.

  • Without any perks the alt-fire on the revolver is actually MORE accurate then Nellie, it just wont shoot as far or do as much damage.

PASSIVE - Bounty
"What what! One for the chaps" Nigel's passive gives you a reward for what Nigel does best, killing. Every time you kill an enemy hero, you and your team all receive 150 blocks each unless your brick cap is maxed out.

You should be seeing the bricks being deposited into your stash whenever you get a kill.

Tips N Tricks
  • This passive can be very useful if you have somebody like a doc or genie on your team because it only takes four kills to give them all THREE extra health stations, ammo crates, fire traps or genie lamps.

  • When you are having to do the painful job of solo defense, you won't have to focus on farming bricks to reform your defenses because every kill you get you can build another lot of traps.

  • Now here is the best use for the bounty passive. Kill stealing. This passive finally gives you a legit excuse for when you steal somebody hard earned kill. So next time somebody yells at you for kill stealing just tell them its for the better of the team.
ACTIVE - Spot Prey
"I say, modern radar, oh raruh!" Nigel's active ability shoots a temporary radar in the direction that you are pointing. Spot prey looks like a huge spherical red ball and travels very fast. The way it works is that is travels across the map in the direction you're aiming and triggers when it hits the first solid thing in its path (basically anything that isn't air or liquid). When it gets triggered it explodes in a circular 10 by 10 block radius and any enemy heroes, devices, cubes or bases in that radius will be highlighted through walls. This effect on the enemy(s) lasts 10 seconds but you can hit it again when the effect is only partially done to top the timer back up to 10 seconds.

#pic of spot prey effect# You will know if you are hit by spot prey if you see this icon appear.

What to do if you have spot prey put on you:

  • Generally try to stay behind cover if you can for the entirety of the 10 seconds because a good Nigel can easily kill you with two shots and its a great help to them if they know where you are.
  • If you are about to attack the enemy's cube or base, DON'T. When you have spot prey on you, the enemies will all know where you are and will quickly annihilate you if you get in range of them without a second thought.
  • If you spawn on a spawn point or go through a portal then immediately get spot prey put onto you, then i can guarantee that it also showed your spawn or portal. When this happens you should destroy the spawn or portal before the enemy team gets to it because its better for YOU to have extra bricks them it is for them.

Spot prey is a vital tool for both defending AND attacking. You will be very grateful that you have an attacking Nigel on your team when he goes near the enemy's defenses and completely reveals everything inside so that you can take out important things like radars and health stations.

Tips for spot prey on attack:

  • It is good to reveal as much of the enemy's defences as you can, but do remember that there is a limit on how many spot preys you can use before you have to wait another painfully long #amount# seconds.
  • If you get below an enemy's defenses and they don't have too many radars around the place, then you can easily point spot prey above you to reveal everything then take out the defenses from below.
  • It can be a good idea to find out where the enemies are standing if you want to breach a wall of something with explosives. Try to place them when there are not many defenders and they are mostly away from your target area at the time when you place it.

Despite how good spot prey might seem on attack, it truly shines when you are defending. Spot prey can be used in so many ways on the defence ranging from spotting enemy heroes before they get to your defenses and finding spawn points.

Best uses for spot prey on defense:

  • If you suspect that the enemy has a respawn or portal in an area you can wait a bit to narrow down where it is by seeing where the enemies are coming from and then simply use spot prey to find it.
  • When there is sombody like an Asterella who is placing orbital beacons below you, you can easily alert your whole team to it and show them all where she is by aiming spot prey at the ground where you think she is
  • When somebody has placed one or more explosive on your walls or defenses, use spot prey to alert your team that there is this thing about to ruin all of your hopes and dreams.
HERO BLOCK - Tiki Head
I say, the old Tiki should do the trick! The Tiki Head is Nigel's unique hero block. It works by shooting a number of poisoned darts in the direction it's facing. It fires 3 darts which all inflict a small amount of damage and also do poison damage over 5 seconds as well as disrupting vision and slowing you for 5 seconds. It also puts you on a temporary radar for 10 seconds. The have the ability to shoot in an arc up to one block above and below. These darts have a range of 5 blocks

Placement
You would think that placing Tiki blocks is easy and don't need much effort or strategy to place, but there is much more that goes into placing Tikis than you expect.
  • First off, don't just place your Tikis in open places where everybody can see them because people that are smart will just avoid it or destroy it with their digging tool
  • After you have gotten some time to learn the layout of each map, you will be able to spot the areas where enemies run through the most. These areas are very good to place Tikis.
  • Ignoring the above point, it is also a great idea to place one or two Tikis in places away from your base or cube where people try to place sneaky spawns so you will know when people are around that area
  • You should protect your cube by placing 1 Tiki on each side facing it so that enemy attackers have to get hit by your Tikis if they want to attack your cube or base
  • Because of the Tikis large curve, as well as the above point, try placing the Tikis on top of a singular block since it can curve a whole block below. This can let your Tikis hit people both one block below, in front and above instead of just in front and above
  • If you have a natural wall that enemies run past, it is a great idea to mine out a block in the wall and place a Tiki inside of it
    Perks
Without perks, the Tiki block shoots a total of 5 block distance as i have said above. The perks taht affect the range however, can extend this range to a whole 10 blocks. Just amagine that, that is FIVE cubes in a line
  • Without Tiki Terror: 4 blocks range
  • Tiki Terror level 1: 5 blocks range
  • Tiki Terror level 2: 6 blocks range
  • Tiki Terror level 3: 7 blocks range
Perks
"Perks" are a thing that you can purchase from the ingame store with either ingame money. What perks do, is they give you small buffs but they are completely balanced because each buff also comes with a debuff. There are three types of perks and you can only equip one of each type at a time.

Nigel's Hero Perks

High Caliber Rounds
This perks lets Nigel do more damage with every shot but also decreases the number of round in his clip by one. The amount that the damage increases is (level 1) 10%, (level 2) 15% and (level 3) 20% but at the cost of (level 1,2,3) less round ps in the clip.

  • Level one: 44 damage
  • Level two: 46 damage
  • Level three: 48 damage

    Tiki Terror
This perk is a nasty thing, allowing all the Tikis that Nigel places to have more range then they would normal have. The downside is it makes the Tikis cost 20% more which makes them cost 180 bricks (normal 150). The perks increase its range by (level 1) 30%, (level 2) 40% and (level 3) 50%.

  • Level 1: 5 blocks range
  • Level 2: 6 blocks range
  • Level 3: 7blocks range

    For The Empire
This perk lets Nigel gift his team with extra blocks for every kill he gets. Normal people get 50 blocks from each kill to keep for themselves and Nigel's passive (see above) gives you 150 for every kill. However, if you equip For The Empire your blocks from kills are increased by (level 1) 50%, (level 2) 75% or (level 3) 100%.

  • Level 1: 225 blocks per kill
  • Level 2: 262(.5) block per kill
  • Level 3: 300 blocks per kill

    Some Noice Perk Loadouts

    The Mobile One

This is the kinda player that doesn't stay in the one place for too long, I am quite like this as I love to reposition myself using speed and jump pads into a better angle to snipe from. You're like an assassin, they don't know when you will strike, they don't know where you will strike. All they know is that when you do strike, they will be dead!

    Toe Ball Heel Knee
This perk makes you take much less fall damage then you normally would. For most classes I would recommend choosing straight speed if you want to move around a lot, but since you're a sniper you will want to always be getting into those high up areas and you don't wanna take a load of fall damage if you jump back down.

    Bags Of Bullets
This perk increases your max ammo capacity by a significant amount. It can be quite useful when you're playing quite mobile because Nigel's ammo regens at a pretty low speed and you won't want to be standing there all day when there are people to kill.

    High Caliber Rounds
This perk increases your damage by a small amount. This is surprisingly useful for a mobile Nigel because you don't want to have to wait for Nellie to reload because your target will get away.

    The Camping One

These perks are for the people who DO like to stay in the one spot for a while, often a high up area with a health station and ammo crate with them. *cringy line*

    Toe Ball Heel Knee
This perk, as i have said above, decreases your fall damage by quite a lot. It's quite useful because when you're in a high up space and somebody somehow gets to your cube/base before you kill them you can just jump down and kill them without taking much damage through falling.

    Nerves Of Steel
This is the perk that I never go without, It increases your accuracy and that's about it. If you're high up sniping people instead of facing them close up, you will want to have the most precise shots you can get.

    High Caliber Rounds
High Caliber Rounds increases your damage output by a bit as I have said above. This is extremely useful because with this perk, you only have to shoot turrets three times instead of four times like you normally would have to.

    Whatever You Use
BNL is a game with huge customisation regarding its perks and it's realy not up to me do decide how you want to use them. Customize your perks however you feel best using but do try to mix things up sometimes too in case you don't have what REALLY works for you.
The Build Phase
One To Three Minutes

As Nigel your main goal is to assist your team and this includes the build phase. In the first 1-3 minutes of the build phase you should go around with another person doing one or two big cuts for them sweet blocks. If you don't know what a "cut" is, it is a massive structure that when you cut the entire base of it, it will fall down and reward your whole team a HUGE amount of blocks to spend. After playing for a bit, you will get familiar to where these cuts are around the map and will be able to go to them quickly with no delay. Doing cuts might be quite boring, but come on, SOMEBODY has to do it.

Three To Five Minutes

In these last three minutes, you should focus on placing Tikis around the place (see the Hero Block section for placement tips). After you're done with your pro Tiki placement you will probabaly have around one minute to do anything else that you wanted to do. As a tip, i would suggest using the remainder of your time to do one of these things:

Low Ping
If you have low ping you can do many things that other people can't (see below) but one of these things includes speed placing blocks like glue, caltrops and crates. Now, because your team will have already build a front wall (I hope), you wont need to worry about speed placing crates for that and should instead focus your attention on the caltrops and glue. Caltrops may be expensive, but with the cuts that you just did, you will be able to place around 100 of them around the place. Try to place the caltrops in areas that are mainly flat or have a low roof so that the enemy can't avoid them eaily. Glue is a Nigel's best friend, it is cheap, quick placing and slows the enemy. Spam glue well. . . EVERYWHERE, it's as simple as that.

High Ping
(anything above 100)
First off, you can check what your ping is by holding tab any time in your match but you will be able to just feel if you have high ping though. With high ping, sadly the only thing you can do is to place bear traps around the place or build a few walls out of bricks. This might not seem like much but many players fall for bear traps and this will leave them with a lot of health lost and stuck in place for a bit. Another thing that you might consider in these last 3 minutes is placing a few speed and bounce pads around the place to help your team out. Place these around the spawn and places to get back to your defenses quickly. Do keep in mind though, DO NOT place too many of the speed and bounce pads over the place because it can be REALLY annoying if you are constantly flying over the place.
The BlockBuster Boost
The block buster is a powerful object that is protected inside a hard outer shell. Block Buster or "BB", makes a massive difference in the outcome of a match, mainly after the 2nd BB. The block buster buffs your team an amazing amount if you are the team that touches it first. The BB will spawn at 15, 25, 35 and 40 minutes and every 5 minutes after it. Each BB increases your block digging power progressively over each BB. From the 25 minute forward BB though, you also get a powerful shield much like Tony's and Sweet Science's shield. There will be a marker showing where it will spawn appear on your map one minute before the BB spawns on the map. You collect the BB after it spawns by first breaking the outer shell of it with your digging tool, after you do this it will drop down and be able to be collected to whichever team touches it first. If you take a long time to secure the BB for your team however, the outer shell of it will automatically break after three minutes.

Preparing For The Block Buster
The Block Buster can spawn at two or more locations depending on the map. For example, Parapet's BB can spawn at 2 places as well as on Mountain Express it can spawn at 2 locations. Because of this, you will need to prepare not just one BB location, but multiple. Now, as a Nigel you really can't do much when it comes to prepping for the BB. The best you can do is cover all the ground near the BB with any form of trap you can think of.

This however, won't really be useful on small BB locations such as Mountain Express's floating islands because they have little space to fill with traps if any. Lastly, when the BB becomes very important to winning a game people will start to prep it way before the BB spawns. This is your opportunity to either take them out, or wait untill they leave and destroy all the prepping that they just did.

Securing The Block Buster
When the Block Buster spawns into the map that is your cue to get your British booty out of the area. As a sniper, you can't really do much in close range and even less when the chaos of getting the BB begins. What I would highly recomend you do is go up to a vantage point and get ready BEFORE the BB spawns. If you do this then you can focus not on breaking the BB, but with killing the enemy heroes before they can get close to it.

Tips N Tricks
  • This goes for all heroes. When you think it is a good time to break the shell of the BB, you should try to get below it so that the BB sheilds you from almost all damage and when it does break, you will instantly pop out and grab it before anybody else can get it.

  • When the BB gets quite powerful, many people will start to prep it from five to even ten minutes before it spawns. This is your opportunity to either kill them, or wait for them to leave and then take out their prepping with the help of your active ability (see above).

  • As you are a sniper, you need to focus the targets that threaten your team. I would suggest killing off the heroes that have high CC (croud control) like doc and vander because they can wreck your entire team if you're not careful. After them focus on other people. Depending on the map, you may have to focus different people than usual. For example, on mountain express's two floating islands, if the enemy team has a good Sweet Science you will NEED to kill him because he will be able to wreck your team with a few gravitational pulls.
Other
Strafing
Strafing is somthing I do basically whenever I am playing Nigel to avoid getting killed as much. What strafing is, is basicaly moving right to left, crouch and uncrouching and doing anything you can do to make the enemy miss their shots.
Originally posted by Wikipedia:

I think that the wiki discription explains it quite well but in Block N Load you can do even more then that, for example:
  • Crouching in Block N Load is nearly instant and when you do you keep your accuracy, so you can rapidly crouch and uncrouch to avoid a lot of danger
  • If you're not trying to shoot an enemy or you're in close combat, you should try jumping also because if they go for a low body shot they will miss it

    When to run
As Nigel, a sniper, you don't the biggest health amount and you can't take much of a punch. Because of this you will need to have to run out of many situations that endanger you too much. Some of the main situations that you should avoid are:
  • A ninja or Astarella can realy screw your day up if then manage to sneak up on you. If one of them comes for you, RUN.
  • If you spot a Sweet Science coming for you you can normally get one or two shots off on him because of his massive body, but if he gets too close to you, you will never escape his gravity pulls so RUN.
  • Anybody who can get a lot of damage on you in a short amount of time like cog or vander, you can not afford to let get next to you so RUN.

    Low ping tricks
If you have low ping (less then 100) you can do many things that people with higher ping can't. These things however, are not easy to do and you defiantly won't master it within a few tries. There are many tricks that you can do but the best ones would be:
  • Speedbuilding
Speedbuilding is when you rapidly build things like caltrops, glue and crates. This can be used to rapidly place crates upwards whilst you're riding on the side of them. It can only work if you run and jump at a wall or two standing crates and then rapidly place crates. You can also speedbuild crates in front of you horizontaly. This can be extremely useful if you want to get over a lava pit or somthing similar. Lastly, is speedbuilding glue and caltrops. You can use the glue to escape dangerous foes by placing them quickly as you run from them.

    Do's and don'ts
BNL is a game that nearly everybody plays differently, but there are some things that new Nigels do that you just shouldn't be doing.
  • Fake Blocks
Fake blocks, in my opinion, are extremely useful but take up WAY too much time to make them. I see so many people spending the entire build phase making one or two fake block traps. This is no use for your team, it may trick people a few times but after that it's completely useless and you're left with a giant hole in your base. Overall, I would recommend either not making them or to make them smaller and less time consuming.

  • Blocking The Objectives
Despite what a lot of people say, blocking up your objectives is something you SHOULD do but only if you follow these rules. 1, Always cover it with sandbags because they are much MUCH stronger unless the enemy is just suiciding in wich case you should use bricks because they are faster to build back up. 2, only block in the cubes, blocking in the base results in to many bad situations for you and takes way longer to build. 3, replacing the cube cover is somthing you should be doing quite offten but don't just replace the blocks that have been destroyed. If you see any highly damaged blocks, destroy them and replace them aas you see fit.
Closing
After all this guide writing I see that I kinda shouldn't have written it. You see, I don't think that in Block N Load anybody can tell you how to play any character TOO much. All you need to know about Nigel is the basics like being able to aim and when to run. Nigel is a character who I feel is very much decided on your personality and how you play. You could be an up close fighter like AaronTan, a 1v1 god like Potato, an all-rounder like Cloud (ClouderiiK) or a long range sniper like me (ClouderiiK). Whatever path you choose I hope it goes well for you and you continue playing Nigel.

Training With Me
I would high suggest that if you an aspiring Nigel that you seek some guidance from a good Nigel player like me, this is a link to the KSS clans discord server https://discord.gg/ZPqUHX9. KSS is a clan that anybody can join and is a good way to get guidance. There are quite a few "pro" players in it that would love to help you along with me.You can get my attention by typing in "@ClouderiiK#7542". Discord is also free so if you don't have it I highly suggest you get it.

Anyways thanks for reading through my trash Nigel guide :)
