Introduction
NAM was released in 1998 for DOS PCs. It runs on the Build engine and reuses a lot of code from Duke Nukem 3D. So much code is reused that you can actually run NAM in eduke32. A source port for Duke Nukem 3D.

This allows for

-playing the game in a widescreen resolution. Can run at resolutions like 3072x2304
-easier to play custom maps
-Much faster framerate
- adds a full-featured console, including Quake-style key bindings, command aliases, advanced tab completion, comprehensive command history, colored text and more
-adds tons of optional new features that make the player's life easier including modern status display/HUD, support for loading mods from the startup window, and modern, WSAD-based controls with thoroughly reworked mouse aiming

Thankfully this is easy to install. I'll go over the steps bellow.
Download Eduke32
Go to

http://www.eduke32.com/

and download the software by clicking the Windows icon

Installation
After downloading. Use .7zip to open the file. You should be greeted with this

Now navigate to your NAM folder. This is commonly located in

C:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\NAM\

Extract the contents of the .7zip into your dosbox_windows folder

Now. Go to your NAM folder

Copy all of the files in this folder into the dosbox_windows folder
Fixing the Steam overlay
The game will now run if you run eduke32.exe, click "NAM" under the GAME section and press the START button

If you want the Steam overlay to work. Go back into the dosbox_windows folder and right click the file named dosbox.exe. And rename it to dosboxbackup.exe or delete it.

Then rename eduke32.exe to dosbox.exe

You will now be able to run the game from inside the Steam client and you will have the overlay.

Troubleshooting
If the game still doesn't work. Go back into your dosbox_windows folder and rename GAME.CON to NAM.CON
Uninstallation
If you wish to revert the game back to the way it was. Go to your steam library and locate NAM

Right click it and go to properties

Then go to Local Files and press Verify integrity of game cache.

This will restore the game back to the way it was before.

It should just work with addons. Custom levels just need to be placed in the game folder and navigated to ingame.

Thanks ! Good leadership. I'll add it myself. By the same principle, you can put BuildGDX (http://m210.duke4.net/) On the plus side - playing on the network, on the minus side - more hardware requirements.

Try adding -usecwd to launch options.

У кого такая же проблема, что и у меня (комментарий ниже). Нужна версия EDuke32 2.0.0devel r4791 ( http://dukeworld.duke4.net/eduke32/synthesis/old/2014/20141201-4791/ )

Who has the same problem as me (comment below). The correct version of EDuke32 2.0.0devel r4791 ( http://dukeworld.duke4.net/eduke32/synthesis/old/2014/20141201-4791/ )

EDuke находит Duke: Nuclear Winter в Megaton Edition.

EDuke finds Duke: Nuclear Winter in Megaton Edition. And loads some graphics from it (such as the title screen and weapons). How can I force EDuke doesn't search for other games in other folders besides its own directories?
EDuke does not search for other games in older versions ( EDuke32 2.0.0 devel 20100704 ). But Steam, after renaming eduke32.exe in dosbox.exe, doesn't launch it.
