How to use Infantry
By A.Morphous
Infantry is the most basic and probably most important part of your army. Think of it as a body. The armor is the skin, the ammo is the muscles, and the soldiers are the skeleton. This guide teaches you how to use this metaphorical skeleton.

Basic Types of Infantry
Riflemen
Riflemen are the most common and basic of the infantry types. They are armed with a rifle that has relatively good range, accuracy, and damage per shot (DPS). They are equipped with one anti-personnel grenade and a sandbag kit. They are good for rather long-range (65 to 70 meters) engagements like trench battles. They are known as "rifle" in the Editor.

SMG Infantry
SMG infantry are the second most common type of infantry. They carry a submachinegun that is good with rate of fire, but not the best with range, accuracy, or DPS. They also have two AP grenades, one AT grenade, and one smoke grenade. They are best for short-range (45-50 meters) fighting, like clearing trenches or in cities and towns. They are known as "smg" in the Editor.

Machine Gunners
Machine gunners are probably the best infantry type in my opinion. They are equipped with a machine gun (hence their name) that has very good rate of fire and DPS, and they have great range (75-80 meters). However, they are not very accurate. They have no grenades. They are best for fighting infantry. They are called "mgun" in the Editor.

Snipers
Snipers are very good for dealing lots of damage to single targets. They are armed with a sniper rifle that has very good DPS, good accuracy and range (95-100 meters), but not the best rate of fire. They carry a paradrop signal. They are equipped with three camo kits and a knife. They are best for long range individual kills and stealth. They are named "sniper" in the Editor.

Medics
Medics are basically riflemen with healing capabilities. They are armed with a standard rifle which have the same stats as a rifleman's. They carry no grenades, but they are equipped with twenty-five bandages for healing. They have a morphine bag which can heal knocked-out men. They are known as "medic" in the Editor. They are not available in multiplayer.

Squad Leaders
Squad leaders are essentially SMG men with field caps. They carry the usual submachineguns with the same statistics as the SMG infantry. They are equipped with two AP, two AT, and two smoke grenades. They are good for the same things as SMG troops. Their name in the Editor is "squadleader".

Bazookers
Bazookers are the main AT infantry type. They are equipped with a rocket launcher that has low range (35-40 meters, depending on the weapon) and rate of fire, good accuracy, and extremely good DPS. They carry a submachinegun as a secondary firearm and some grenades depending on the country. They are best at taking out tanks. They are known as "bazooker" in the Editor.
General Tips
Get lots of infantry! If you have a bunch of MP, then get as much infantry as you can. Soldiers work best with others helping them. Sheer numbers can mean the difference between victory and defeat. The Soviets used that strategy, and it worked out fine for them.

Set squads! Press "Shift-(number)" when you have men selected to do it. They make it easier to select and keep track of your forces. Press (number of squad) to select them. The squad allows you to keep the men together and have a larger force in one place.

Keep squads with other squads! Again, infantry works best in numbers. A larger force means more men fighting in one place. The men are able to fight with others by their sides. More bullets means more casualties among the enemy.

Take cover! Cover objects are anything that can block bullets. You will see a white figure where you can put men. That means that they will be able to duck behind the object to avoid the enemy's shots. Trenches are some of the best cover items.

Back them up with tanks! This will allow you to protect them from any enemy armor. And the relationship goes both ways. The infantry can disable any enemy AT guns and protect the tank from AT infantry or men with AT grenades.

Lie down! Going prone makes your men smaller targets. It also allows them to be much more accurate because they can rest their gun on the ground. That position lets them hide in grass, which makes them more stealthy. However, they do move much slower when they are like this.
Field Battles
Field battles are the one of the most common types of battles. Field battles are battles that take place in a field with moderate to little cover. They consist of many singleplayer missions and several multiplayer battles. They usually consist of quite a lot of units. There tends to be mostly armor, with infantry backing them up. The infantry is almost always in large numbers. The battles are usually very aggressive, with armor pushing forward and infantry maneuvering around them and cleaning up enemy forces. The men on foot are an important asset. They assist the armor in taking out enemy units and they use large numbers to overwhelm the enemy. The troops are very useful in taking enemy positions and killing enemy men who were missed by the armor. Always make sure you use the infantry wisely. Use them to surround enemy armor and destroy it. They have excellent maneuvering capabilites, so use that to guerilla-fight the slower, larger enemy vehicles. Spare your more expensive tanks by using infantry to destroy the most powerful enemy armor with grenades, AT rifles, and rockets.
City Battles
City battles are battles that take place in a city or town with lots of cover. These are many of the singleplayer skirmishes and multiplayer battles. Infantry is the most important part of the battles. Armor is used for destroying enemy vehicles and buildings with lots of troops in them. The infantry are great because of their ability to take cover inside buildings, allowing them to fire out of the windows onto enemy forces. The men are good with hiding in cover and then jumping out in an ambush. The troops can move much faster than vehicles, and they are not restricted to only the streets. The infantry has tons of cover, so it can take out entire groups of units while only taking a few casualties themselves. Artillery's effectiveness is severely diminished because of the cover and buildings. It cannot hit many of your units. However, watch out for collapsing buildings! This will kill every unit in it. AT grenades are very effective at taking down walls when a tank or other heavy gun is not available.
Stealth
Infantry is also good for stealth. Snipers and elite units are very effective, and the snipers have camouflage kits to create places to hide. Going prone multiplies the stealthiness. Using men that have powerful and accurate weapons is reccomended. Hiding in bushes and grass is the best action to take when you can do to keep yourself under the radar. I don't have much more for stealth, because I don't do it much myself.
What NOT to do
Do NOT:

* Push aggressively, standing, without cover. This will get you much more casualties than if you "cover-hop" (move from cover to cover) or go prone.
* Engage armor directly from the front. This applies to everything. The machine guns and HE shells will chew up your men. Use ambush tactics instead.
* Let your men run out of ammunition. Ammo is like life itself in war. If they run out of ammo in the middle of a battle, then they are as good as dead.
* Leave an injured man behind. You need all of your men to win. You have a medic. Use him. But if you think you will lose your medic, then I guess one death is better than two. If you are in multiplayer, this option is not available.
* LEEROY JENKINS during a stealth mission. It is a stealth mission for a reason. You don't have that many men. Use them wisely, and make sure to avoid casualties.

Tank killing.. The best way to kill tanks are investing in anti tank guns with a high caliber.
They can shoot very far, and is very precise and if put inside a bush you can really hurt the enemy.. also if you can shoot a a tank in the side example in a 45 degree angle you have a high chance of taking it out. In general try to hide yoru tank behind a hill or something so it shoot at enemy in 45-90degree possition.. its a bad idea to park out in the open.
You can also use terrain to your advantage and example drive left of a hill that way you only have to "fight" in front and to your left.. And have infantry near your tank to protect against AT men and grenades :)

AT infantry is great in city fighting, or in general infantry who can get close enough with the AT grenade can take out any tank with one grenade.. so NEVER drive to close to enemy infantry if you love your tank ;-)

Snipers are VERY powerfull... use them to take out the enemys defenses such as AT guns, Machine guns, and mortars.. + you save allot of ammo with precission strikes like this.
use another soldier to run arround like a target and the enemy will reveal them self so you can use your sniper to shoot at very long range.

Art/mortars.. mortars are amazing against enemy infantry.. so put your infantry in defensive possition and have mortars behind you to soften the enemy and either kill or destroy their cover that way.

tip regarding tanks.... sometimes it can be a good idea to hide a tank behind a building where it is parked and can shoot into the side of advancing tanks when they drive by.. Its better than trying to shoot from far away and it reduce chances of your tank being damaged or destroyed.
you can even use a less powerfull tank since armour is thinner in the side of the enemy tanks.

Els in general regarding infatry dont be scared of using smoke when you advance out of cover to the next.. Smoke is excellent and enemy will not shoot though it...
Also if enemy advance in big numbers with many infantry drop smoke in front of your defenses. Then the enemy will often advance though the shoke more slow and they are totaly unprepared for your army waiting on the other side.. also since smoke cannot be thrown that far then enemy get very close making them easy to hit and kill = you dont speed that much ammo.

LEEROY JENKINS (his username) was a player in World of Warcraft. During a livestream, he became famous for ruining a perfectly planned raid by rushing straight at the enemy screaming his name, which naturally made him famous. LEEROY JENKINS has become synonymous with charging straight for something regardless of the consequences.
