Europa Universalis IV Guides: Abenaki
By Caelem
I have decided to make a guide for every nation in EUIV in alphabetical order, of course starting with the Free-City of Aachen and ending with the Tribal Monarchy of Zazzau. Each nation will be given an in-depth Guide until the Protestant Reformation unless they are a major country, in which case it may or may not go further.

I must admit that after Aachen this guides are a bit out of order as I missed some nations; in order: Abenaki, Achaea, Adal, Yemen, Andalusia (and Granada for ease), Aussa, Afghanistan, Ahmednagar, Air, Ajuuraan, Aq Qoyunlu and Albania,

Because of this I am going to be making these quicker (hopefully)

Also as with most natives the guides are going to be kinda basic for Native Americans.

Abenaki, and Migrations
Starting Position

Abenaki is a native tribe with a random native council, located in the center of Maine, it has 5 development, can migrate and basic Native ideas.

Migration

There are three directions that migration would be beneficial to do, North to Quebec for trade, South to Massachusetts, or West in search of gold. Each have their own benefit, and all depends on how you want to make money.

If you want to make money through trade, then go North, its a less-safe location because of Europeans and less useful for a while, so I wouldn't recommend it unless you want a slight challange

If you want expansion and development, head south to the thirteen, its not safe as its a prime location for England and other Europeans however it can be really nice if you manage to take out the neighboring native OPM's

Heading west, is the most beneficial, you can find gold to make money and is very safe from Europeans for a while, especially if you find a location near the Great Salt Lake or Idaho as the Rockies will protect you.

No matter your choice, I would suggest not sitting in central maine, as it has low development and no trade benefits.

Heading West!
Salt Lake City

You have arrived in Goshute. If you are content with this position, then hold here for as long as possible, if the Shoeshone are still around here, "integrate" them. Wait for Europeans and just develop / Tech upwards.

Contact before Rights of Man

Sit here and Westernize, just try and survive the spanish or french or whoever have showed up boardering your Oasis.

Contact after Rights of Man

concentrate on converting your religion, as this is how you'll gain institutions in Rights of Man as a native american. You only start with a 50% penalty in RoM so your nation will be more advanced than before RoM.
Heading South / North
Quebec and Massachusetts

Both of these provinces start with 10 development and an estuary; which is 5 more dev than you aswell as a easily fortified location against other natives.

Europeans

The europeans show up here earlier than in Salt lake, and it makes it that much easier to westernize / institutionize. Just do what you do as early as possible
Reforming Religions?
Religion

After Europeans arrive your going to need to change your religion to your neighbors if you want to institutionize / Westernize, So what do you aim for? Protestant? Reformed? Catholic?

Well it all relies on that neighbor, try and match it or go Protestant to speed up your colonies. As always the choice is yours I can just suggest simple options.
