Basic HUD
Your Health, Body Armor, and Sprint bars are located on the bottom right of the screen. The HUD displays your firing mode (three bullets = automatic, one bullet = single shot) To the right displays your ammo/clip size. You can also see which grenade you currently have selected and the amount you have; that includes flash and smoke grenades. The flashlight is located above and can be toggled on/off.

Red - Health

Orange - Body Armor

Blue - Sprint
Movement
Sprinting - Your sprint bar appears in blue on the bottom right of the HUD. The Machete and Falcon are the two weapons which allow you to run at the fastest speed. You will move slowest when you have The Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, or M60 in hand. Jumping also reduces your sprint bar. If you need to regenerate your sprint bar at a faster rate, you can stand completely still until your sprint is fully recovered. The more movement you make, the slower it takes for your sprint to regenerate.

Crouching/Prone - This is one of the key movements in Far Cry. Crouching or lying prone can increase the accuracy of your weapons and also reduce the noise of your footsteps. Crouching gives a slight increase in weapon accuracy, while prone increases your accuracy even more. It is important to know that you cannot stay zoomed-in with scoped weapons and strafe at the same time unless you are prone. Scoped weapons include The Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, AG36 Assault Rifle, and the OICW Advanced Assault Rifle. Crouching/prone will also reduce weapon sway. This is mostly beneficial for scoped weapons, but also applies to all other weapons as well.

*Tip* Stay crouched or prone in foliage. Mercenaries will often not detect you if you are prone, especially in grass. Always take out snipers first. It makes approaching enemy territory much easier.
Tactics
Single Shot - Toggling your firing mode to single shot is a good way to land one-hit kills while aiming for the head. It is also good for precision shots from a distance. I don't recommend using single shot in close quarters combat if you are engaged by multiple enemies. You are better off using full auto in a tight scenario because single shot will rely on more skilled and precise shots if you are being attacked by multiple threats up close. Semi automatic weapons include the M4 Carbine and the MP5. The MP5 is silenced and doesn't draw any attention from your shots. The AG36 Assault Rifle and the OICW Advanced Assault Rifle can be used as grenade launchers by toggling firing modes.

Rocks - You have an unlimited supply of rocks. You can switch to rocks by toggling your grenades. It's easy to forget that you have these and they are very useful as a distraction to keep enemies away from you if you haven't been spotted yet. You can use rocks to lure enemies to a certain location or to face them in another direction away from your presence. Rocks are also useful if you are running low on grenades.

Binoculars - These are your best friend. Binoculars can tag enemies so they show up on your radar. Binoculars have a very high magnification, along with a sound enhancer to hear conversations between mercenaries, and also makes sounds more audible in the location you are scouting. ALWAYS use binoculars when approaching enemies. Make sure you tag every enemy in sight so they are marked on your radar.
Radar
Radar - The radar has different functions. The most important one to keep an eye on is the Stealth Meter. This will show the alertness of an enemy closest to you in your vicinity. The more movement you make, the higher the chances of you being spotted. The Stealth Meter is located on the left and right side of the radar.

After you have tagged multiple enemies with the binoculars, some will show up as different colors on the radar. Each color corresponds the level of alertness your enemies are. They will appear as a small triangle. The color changes depending on how aware they are of your presence:

Green - The enemy has no idea of your location.

Yellow - The enemy is more alert than before and is on the lookout for anything suspicious.

Orange - The enemy knows that something is wrong and will be actively seeking out your location.

Red - The enemy knows of your exact position and will most likely be shooting at you.

In addition, the radar can show sound waves from the bullet trajectory in the direction enemies are firing at you. This is useful in case you haven't tagged a certain enemy and are unaware of where you are being shot from. Most importantly is to keep an eye on your objective locator, which is marked as a blinking turquoise circle.
Other Tips
Grenades - Always rely on your grenades to take out multiple enemies at once. Try different tactics. Use your smoke and flash grenades at any point you feel overrun.

Alarms - Alarms are mostly located in mercenary outposts. Keep an eye out for any enemies trying to sound off the alarm. The alarm will spawn reinforcements. You can't destroy alarms. If an alarm is activated you can walk up to it and shut it off by pressing the Use key.

Vehicles - There's different routes you can traverse when approaching mercenary camps or checkpoints. Think of different approaches, even on foot. It's always useful to explore your surroundings and look for hidden paths or trails. There are vehicles scattered in different areas, mostly levels with jungle terrain. Some vehicles, including boats, are found off your main destination. Take time to explore. Try walking down the beachhead in order to locate a boat so you can attack enemies from a different direction. There are mercenaries that scout many areas of the ocean with Patrol Boats. When low on health or ammo, it's always easier killing multiple enemies when you are using a vehicle, but be careful, because vehicles can easily take a lot of damage when you are being fired at. This includes vehicles you want to commandeer. If you want to kill enemies who are using a vehicle, always aim for the head. Try to do less damage as possible to the vehicle if you are trying to seize it. *Tip* If you are being overrun by Trigens, running them over is a good option.

Vehicles are equipped with machine guns and rocket launchers. The 4WD and Patrol Boat are equipped with both machine gun/rocket launcher combo, where as the Buggy is only equipped with a machine gun. You can switch to the machine gun or rocket launcher by toggling the firing mode key.

Helicopters - Aim for the gunner. If you take him down the helicopter will flee. The Sniper Rifle will take down a helicopter at long range. Also, use the Rocket Launcher. Aim carefully. The Rocket Launcher requires you to time your shots since the helicopter is a moving target. The gunner won't shoot unless they can see you. Hide behind trees. Lean and shoot.

Nightvision - Your nightvision battery is located to the right of the radar. Use nightvision in dark areas. Use it wisely. It drains battery life quickly. With nightvision you can also spot the Locusts Trigens when they are invisible.

When you equip the binoculars and activate nightvision at the same time, you have unlimited battery life.

Trigens - Monkey Trigens in particular can leap 10 metres and slash you. They target the spot you are standing on. You lose a lot of health if they hit you. When they leap, strafe to make them miss. The Jackhammer Shotgun is the best weapon of defense against them.

Shield Guards - Shield Guards can take more damage than normal mercenaries. Aim for the feet so they can expose their head. Use grenades and explosive weapons to take them down.
