Very Basic guide on setting up Models in Unreal 4.12.5.

This guide very simply breaks down the settings for exporting from Qubicle, and importing and setting up models in Unreal 4.12.5. This guide solves the wierd black spots that appears on imported models after lighting in built. It also fixes the compression issues with the texture file.

Export From Qubicle

Fixing the Texture File
  • After Importing the model with textures double click the texture(.png file). Within details change the compression settings and the Filter Settings.
Fix Lighting Issues
  • Once you’ve placed the model in the scene if there are still lighting issues change the lighting settings under the detail panel of the static mesh in the scene.
Setting Lighting within the Mesh
  • These settings can be set as default within the details panel of the static mesh. Double click the mesh in the content browser and set the right settings under LOD0.
