I also buy as much of my stock as I can and wait to see which AI will try to buy me out. Keep one stock open for the AI to buy. Then sell one when the AI buys it. Repeat this process to buy that AI's stock. It is a Pac-Man defense. If you manage to stay ahead of the AI, when you buy it out, all that stock is yours again.
I eliminated crashes by unchecking automatic saves and changing the 0 to a 2 in the hexidecimal file as mentioned in a couple other discussions. I'm running the game on a Windows 10 64 computer and have experienced no lag.
