Creating a server without the need to port forward
By Camera El Man
Sometimes you just want to play GRAV with a friend, but you are not able to/ do not want to port forward.

The solution is easy, and here is how to host a server without having to port forward.

Step 1: Program to provide you with a virtual network and IP.

A lot of you may have heard Hamachi, it provides you the ability to set up a virtual network so that you can connect to your friend without the need to port forward. Tunngle, Hamachi, and EvolveHQ have the ability to allow you to create a virtual network and provide you with a virtual IP to use.

Step 2: Setting up your server

Setting up a server is easy, first you must locate where your GRAV directory, by defualt it will be at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GRAV

You then open up the binaries folder, and you will see two batch (.bat) files (DoRunServer_Worker.bat and LAUNCH_GRAV_DEDICATED_SERVER.bat), right click the dedicated server batch file and edit it with your favorite text editor (or any, doesn't need to be your favorite).

You will immediately notice (or not...) the options that you have for your server, from your server name to how many total home planets to ports and everything you need. Edit the options to what you desire, and then save it.

Step 3: Run your server

Just as easy as it is said, run your server (if it keeps crashing when you run it, make sure GRAV is closed before you run it).

Step 4: Join your server

So your server has been set up, and is already running, and it is time to join your server.
As mentioned in step 1, you will need a program like hamachi, and you will want to copy your ipv4.
Once you are in the main menu of the game, press tab and it will open up a console, and you will want to type the following:
open {IPV4}:{PORT} (7777 is the default port)

If it doesn't join the first time, try again. Make sure to send your friends your virtual IPV4 provided by the program so that they can join as well.
