Create a batch file called q2.bat
Create a batch file called q2.bat in your Steam folder where the steam.exe file is:

notepad C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\q2.bat

Inside the file enter the following line:

steam.exe -applaunch 2320 +connect %2

Open and Configure Quake 2 Server Browser (QSB.EXE)
Open the Quake 2 Server Browser application and configure it..

Where it says Game Path enter the folder location of the batch file you just created C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\ and where it says Game Executable enter q2.bat

Regular steam version I guess I was using the guide on here, and created the bat file and configured the quake 2 server list and all that, but in the end it's the steam version of quake 2.

Works for me on Windows 10. Are you using a source port for Quake 2 or just the regular steam version?

I tried all these steps but quake 2 doesn't want to stay open on a new windows 10 machine, is it just too old to run under windows 10?

Why? I mean, how does this serve us?

Thanks Kvaki. You can configure Qtracker in a similar way for pretty much all the games on there. The Quake games don't require batch files just the -applaunch command line.
