So what do you need to get started?

To get started you need 1 thing...
A good attitude.

You probably think that's untrue but if you don't keep a good attitude It can lower you morale and the morale of your team. That could possibly lead to defeat.


What else do I need?

Make sure before you start, no matter what mode you are playing that you have you mouse sensitivity set to where you like it. If you friends ever tell you to lower it, unless you have not been doing well, don't lower it.

Also make sure you have basic callouts of the maps. Even if you are not a complete pro or don't know callouts just make sure you know where bombsites are, because even if you don't know callouts you can still defend or attack a bombsite.
Note: [/b]If you are a little more seasoned with the game and wish to know callouts, there is a brief section at the end about Dust 2 callouts. Otherwise I will include a file that will help.

The next section will go over a little about basic language.

By knowing some basic language and knowledge about the game's vocabulary, you can better communicate with you team and (hopefully) do a little better.

Lit- When a teammate says someone is lit it means they did damage to them.
He's lit 75=He lost 75 health.

Entry Fragging- The first kill a team gets when gaining control of a map position or bombsite.

Clutch- Means there is one person left and its him versus the surviving enemies.

Eco or Eco Round- Is when you don't buy anything that round to save up money for better weapons usually an AK-47 or M4

Baiting- Means you do 1 of 2 things,

1. Give away a teammates postion so they come out or
   
2. Showing yourself and backing away to lure the enemy out of hiding

Legged- Means you were hit with an AWP(sniper) but not killed. Usually resulting in heavy damage.

Peek- To expose yourself to gain info on the map and enemies

Runboost- Fast way to get a teammate accross mid parts of maps. Involves "throwing" a teammate.

Wall bang- Shoot someone through a wall.

Well, economy is the money system in CSGO. You don't necessarily need to master this but if you and your team know economy you will tend to do very well in matches because you will stay ahead of many teams in firepower and guns.


Depending on how you play, it could be easy or difficult. Most higher skill groups tend to do pistols until round 3, and not buying at all, staying with the deafalt pistol. But, that's not what I do. Personally you don't have to buy and you don't have to save, but my advice is to find a pistol that you are overly good at. To the point where you can get 2 or 3 kills during pistol round with it. For me its Dual Berrettas, but it's personal preference.

Once you find a pistol you are good with, you can tend to get more kills leading to more money. Meaning...
Yes, better guns.


After about round 2, I usually work my way up through SMGs than onto Rifles. Usually by the time you are into Rifles or the P90 you are probably over $5000 or around that.
Note:This is based on getting at least 1 kill per round or more.
If you can't get money this way, the good thing with economy is you can tailor it to your preference.

But, rather than going into the nitty gritty details about gun prices and damage given I am going to simplify it. A lot.

I am going to make a list of Top 5 guns that do the most damage...(these are based on body shots)

Shotguns are good guns but there are better guns. Remember when using shotguns they are only effective at close range. Anything far away won't do much damage or may not hit at all. So read on to find out.


Pistols
Most the time you will only use these at the start of matches or after half time. But there are exceptions for example, Eco Rounds.

Rifles
You will use these 97% of the time. These are good at close and long range, usually leading to most people using them.

SMGs
You can use these at your discretion however, be cautious that, although they can shoot at long range it takes a lot of concentration and time to line up shots usually leaving you dead before they are effective. Usually better at close range.

Shotguns
These are incredibly hard to put up a fight against. These guns should only be used alongside SMGs while you are rushing a bombsite or intercepting a bomb. Headshot almost always result in death.



-When using shotguns you should hide around a corner or wall and wait for an enemy to come in.
-The best gun to use on a budget is the UMP. Although it doesn't carry a lot of ammo, it is easy to control and you can sometimes get headshot single firing.

-If you aren't in immeadiate fire, tap the gun. This means one or two bullets come out instead of unloading an entire clip onto an enemy only to miss.

-If you are watching an enemy wait to fire until it is almost a certain kill. Otherwise there's a chance he could turn around and kill you instead.

-You can do basic spray control by simply pulling down while firing. For more detailed control a simple Google Search or YouTube video will turn up results.

-When deciding to use one of the M4s, remember, m4a1-s is good for tapping at certain distances and the m4a4 is better spraying at close range.

-If you find yourself in a 1v1 position it's quicker to switch to your pistol than it is to reload. If you find yourself short on health, you run faster with a knife out.

-It's always fun to get one taps but, sometimes you can't get one taps. In this position 2 body or stomach shots will equal a headshot and often will keep you alive longer. Only one tap if you can 98% get it. Never in a fight.

-Practice makes perfect. If you aren't doing particularly well, go offline with bots and play against expert bots. Aim maps also help. Doing this allows you to better spray control. Otherwise casual plus other gamemodes help.

-If you aren't good with a particular gun, DON'T USE IT. If you aren't good with a particular gun you most likely won't get kills also resulting in a death for you.

Well there is different gear, there is kevlar, kevlar and helmet, bomb defuser, and a zeus.

Well what do they do? Well, the kevlar gives you armor... In competive. In casual you already have armor and a defuse kit. Basically the normal kevlar will fill up you armor bar a certain amount. The kevlar + helmet will fill it to 100. But the big difference is with a helmet, it will protect you from headshots. You can still get killed by a headshot but it won't be instant.

A defuse kit lowers the defuse time for CTs to 5 seconds or in a hostage scenario it lowers pickup time to 5 seconds. The normal defuse time is 10 seconds. So as you can see a kit is and important part of a CTs arsenal. Also just like armor, in casual the defuse time is already 5 seconds so there is no need for a kit.

That leaves just one more piece of gear, the Zeus. Let me tell you, I almost NEVER buy a Zeus. For those who don't know what that is, it is a tazer, and you only have one chance to hit someone because it only comes with one shot. However if you taze someone, no matter where you hit them it is an insta kill. Except there's a catch, you have to be extremely close for it to hit them, so if you plan on using this practice hiding around corners.

The gear for Terrorists are the same, minus the defuse kit (obviously) instead that slot is left open because you can't speed up the bomb plant.

Although seeming like a no brainer, there are some unsaid courtesy things to follow while in a match.

1. DON'T TALK WHILE SOMEONE IS CLUTCHING
   This is a big one. When someone is clutching they will need all the concentration they need. If you are blabbing away they can't hear bomb plants/defusals or footsteps. The only exception would be telling them where an enemy was last seen or where he is currently.
   
2. Don't mic spam
   This one isn't as bad as #1 but is annoying. If you don't know what this is, it is when you talk for long periods of time while a round is in session. This also includes leaving you mic open even when you aren't talking. You also can't hear footsteps while you are spamming.
   
3. Don't complain
   If you are doing bad in a match or are having low FPS, I'm sorry. But you team likely won't care. If you are complaining this could lead to mic spamming.
   
4. Don't team kill/team damage
   Just because a teammate shot or killed you doesn't mean you should get them back. Team killing can not onlly result in a cooldown but excessive team killing can lead to VAC bans or permenant ban. Also if you hurt a teammate and he hurts you, you now have 2 player that could be below 70 health before you even see or fire on an enemy.
   
   

You might think it's weird that only one map callout was put in here but, let's face it. You will play on dust 2 85% of the time. So here are the callouts.




If you want the rest of the callouts google CSGO map callouts and there are map overlays you can install into csgo that replace the minimaps with a map just like the one above.

This is for the people who have read the other parts and thought you knew it. This is a little mini guide inside a guide for people who are a little more advanced.

Teams

If you have other friends who play CSGO, make a team. It's not hard, all you have to do is create a group for CS or join a CS oriented group. For example I am in several groups but you can look in my groups and join one if you don't want to create one. Once you are all in the same group, go into game settings in CSGO and find where it says team tag. Select the one for the group you are all in so your names will read all the same tag.

So when you win a round it will say Fnatic wins the round instead of Counter Terrorists or Terrorists.

A good way to communicate with a team of 5 friends is to use an app called Discord. It is made for team chat so there is no internet problems caused by it, unlike Skype. If you use discord you can carry on a solid stream on communication instead of the in game chat that cuts out if you have any real communication because it's made to announce call outs.

After the team has been put together and named or grouped, you can have team roles. Usually there will be an AWPer, a fragger and support. There are more but these are the more basic ones. What this means is there is a person with an AWP or a Scout and they will snipe wherever neccessary. A fragger will try to enter bombsite and get first blood. However a warning you will likely die before support comes. Support are the rest of the players that will throw grenades into site hoping to cause distraction and damage to the people on the site in hopes of allowing a bomb plant or defuse. Support will also guard a planted bomb or guard the bomb defuser allowing you to defuse bomb while there are still enemies alive.

Bomb Plant/Defuse tips

When planting or defusing it seems pretty straightforward, hold E and sit there. Well there is more to it. First lets break down the sections...

Planting Bomb
When planting bomb you shouldn't have to be as worried about enemies because you have the rest of the team as support guarding you. But a little advice... if the bomb site is clear and you have the bomb and the rest of the team is with you... PLANT THE BOMB FAST. The reason for this is, it only takes one enemy to see you and report back to his team wether he is killed or not. Even if you do kill him, there are 4 more people on their way. So when this happens, you guard the bomb no matter what.

I have been in to many matches where the rounds are lost because the terrorist didn't watch bomb and they defused it with enemies still alive. So if you are a terrorist that is alive you need to watch and listen for bomb defuse. You can hear the kit being used so you need to kill the CT.

Bomb Defuse
Once you know or find out where bomb is, you need to gain access to the bomb site. The most effective way to do this is to split and flank them from 2 or 3 sides. For example on B site on Dust 2:
For a translation, the 2 in tunnels move in the same time the 2 outside of doors move in and when this happens the guy in window will shoot the guy behind box and the others rushing in will take out the remainder of people while the guy window defuses.

However the guy behind box has to be killed before the people rush in because he will likely be watching tunnels.
