Before Using This Guide
The game has a series of tutorials that don't take much time to complete. This guide assumes you've completed them all, they're very important to understanding the game.

This guide won't allow you to beat the game, but it will help you set up one stream of income that if maintained via technology, will be a reliable source of funds. You must add other production chains as you go or you'll fall behind; a company with ten times the annual revenue of you will easily outspend you on research and advertising.

It wouldn't hurt to be investing in other department stores that sell imports or other goods if you have extra funds, and make an effort to start buying back your stock and maybe a little bit of your competitors just to stay safe.

Within 3 years you should be able to use this production chain alone to bring in 20 million a year.
Acquire Timber
Your first goal will be to find a high quality source of Timber.

Select the Resource Mode button and look for the letter "T" in the map. There should be one or two. I recommend finding the highest quality one. You'll probably need to take a loan to afford it.

To take a loan, select Financial from the menu, Choose Borrow/Repay Bank Loan, and take 10 Million out in a loan. You can always take more if you need to, and pay it back if you took too much.

If you need even more, Issue 10 Million dollars worth of shares. You'll have time to buy them back.

The following is a decent layout:

Build Bed Factory
Find the nearest city to your Logging Camp and select a Sub-urban tile near the city. This will be the site of your factory.

Build a Factory using a layout like this:

In time, you can upgrade it to something like this:

Link the Supply to your Timber Farm and Beds should end up in Sales.
Build Department Store
Department Stores can be located either near the City Center or in a Sub-urban area near the city. I have no idea if it's worth the extra money to build near the middle.

Build the Department Store in a pattern something like this, and link it to your Factory.

Link the Advertising block to a media center in the city.

Within a month or two, you should be pulling a profit of around $250,000 a year from this chain.
Research and Development
Don't rush this, but within a year or two, you'll need to build a research firm to stay competitive.

Three units on a two year cycle should be good. Over time you may need to adjust this up or down to stay ahead of the competition.

It is advisable, beyond having a income chain, to go through the tutorials on how to set up each type of income producing business (Raw Materials, Manufacturing, and Stores). I also recommend using the manufacturing index and product reports provided in determining between advertising and training to improve sales.

Should put in a note explaining that you can convert the top/bottom or left/right sales block into manufacturing blocks, if you are constantly selling out before new beds are produced.

Give me a minute to fix that, I don't know why I didn't think of that.

It is better to place the purchasing unit of timber in the center of the factory. With this place method, you can batch 6 manufacturing unit and 2 sales unit which are the best slot location.
