Big Blue Blob Guide 1.17
By SapphicKerfuffle
Big Blue Blob is an elusive achievement with only 0.3% of EUIV players having it. 1.17 with its addition of the Austro-French historical rivalry makes the achievement even more difficult than normal however it is still very much possible and this guide should lead you to victory no matter the conditions of the start.

@Zaiets Fighting England is fine those cores are VERY valueable to your economy. Taking just the 4 with re-conquest also only takes 60 warscore which makes it relatively easy. If you cant quite beat the English army due to their size you can always hire 2 mercs or so and sortie allowing you to prevent flanking then just smash them with your generals. As for no CB-ing Trebizond. It works for sure but then again so does the less tenuous Scandinavia route. Its a matter of preference for sure but it opens you up to a chance for a really large coalition of muslim nations which would be dangerous with the Ottomans. They won't win of course the player should always win, but it could prevent you from getting the achievement.

@Politic Revolutionnaire What I tried to do after Aragon is to no-CB Trebizond, vassalize it and sweep the minors of Caucasus, Golden Horde, Muscovy. I am not sure that fighting England is a good idea since if AI does everything right with landing troops, you might face a 35-unit stack that will require your full commitment and might take a while. This broke 1 or 2 promising tries with my achievement.

@TheSpiritMan You cannot inherit Burgundy as France through the royal marriage option however the emperor has a higher chance at getting the inheritance if Burgundy has no marriage partner that fits the qualitifcations. Its just too much luck based for me though if you would like to go that route for your runs good luck I just believe that ignoring the emperor and the inheritance is better for a player in an achievement like this.

@Politic Revolutionnaire the emperor has a 10% change but if you royal marry burgundy and have more prestiege than anyone else you should get a good chunk of the land if not all of it. thats what ive heard from most people nowadays.

@chocolatnave Sorry for responging so late. The Burgundian Inheritance is a nice perk to have the provinces are well developed and completely free however it is not something to rely on. As emperor you have a 10% chance to get the inheritance which is too small a chance to really depend on. Indeed the diplo slots needed to become and maintain emperorship could be better spent on vassals to reduce OE and AE depending on their cores.

How about the Burg Inheritance? That's a good 20 provinces if you can get it before 1500 as the emperor.

@Seven Ireland Scotland Norway is too slow and full of AE for my taste thats why I recommend vassalizing East Frisia.

The way I did it was to creep my way from Ireland to Scotland to Norway to Novgorod to Muscovy to reach the low development provinces of the tatar steppes. The north generaly has low development = low coring cost and AE.
