Welcome!
Welcome to my Beginner's Guide for Forgotten Lore. In this guide, I'll introduce you to different parts of the game to make understanding them easier.

First of all, a big thank you to my friend Coty (who is also the developer of this awesome game) for... kinda everything :D.

Feedback is always very appreciated!

If you find any spelling/grammar mistakes in here, please tell me and I'll correct them. Please also tell me if I forgot to include something.

And now, let's start with the first section ;-).
The UI
First of all, you need to know what the different menus are used for.

Main Menu

The Main Menu shows you the client changelog on the left, your account statistics on the upper right and your friends list on the bottom right. By clicking on "[Duel]", you can invite a friend to play a game against you. To get a more detailed overview of your statistics, click on "Stats" below your exp bar!

The bar on the bottom shows you different icons and information.

(From left to right):

Devblogs: This button takes you to the FL website[forgotten-lore.com] where the devblogs are located.

Forums: The button which has the Wandering Corgi Studios logo on it opens up the official FL forums[forums.wanderingcorgi.com] where you can discuss and exchange information with other players.

Steam: If you wish to visit the Steam forums of Forgotten Lore, you should click this button.

Facebook: Official Facebook page of Forgotten Lore[www.facebook.com]

Twitter: Coty's official Twitter account. If you want to stay up-to-date, you better follow him there! ;-)

Duels in progress: The amount of duels that are currently in progress.

Colored button 1: Matchmaking Server Status*

Colored button 2: Resource Server Status*

Feedback button: This button is very important! Please submit any feedback (especially bug reports!) using this little button, it really helps improving the game ;-).

Store

The store is used to buy new card packs in exchange for a certain amount of gold.
Each basic pack costs 200 gold, which can be obtained by playing Ranked or Free Play games.

Options

The options menu can be pretty important sometimes, because here you can edit the game's settings.

Music: Use this control to change the music's volume.

Sound: Use this control to change the volume of the ingame sounds.

Window: Select the window mode you want (or need).

Resolution: This box is used to change the game's resolution.

Quality: Select your desired quality level.

Word Filter: If active, the game will filter bad words and censor them in the chat.

Chat: Activates/Deactivates the ingame chat.

*Green = online ; Purple = connected, authenticating ; Red = disconnected ; Gray = not yet connected (if it stays Gray forever, there's a problem with Steam)
Creating a deck

In this video, you'll learn how to create a deck and how to configure it correctly!

(Sorry for the missing voice-over!)
The card's structure
Cards are structured in a specific way. Please have a look at the picture below to see, how.

Different kinds of cards and what they do
In this section, I'll show you the three different kinds of cards that are available right now.

Monsters

Basically, there are two different "roles". In this case, you could say that there are offensive and supportive cards.

Monsters are the offensive kind, they are used to damage your opponent's cards or your enemy himself.

Unlike other cards, Monsters always have values for attack damage, shield and health points.

For example: Tiab, The Kraken has a soul cost of 7, 8 health points, 3 attack damage and a shield of 2 (as shown in the picture below)

Spells

Spells are used to support your Monsters (or yourself), e.g. through healing your damaged cards.
They don't have any attack damage, shield or health points. They destroy themselves directly after summoning them.

For example: Awaken has a soul cost of 2, but no other values (as shown in the picture below)

Souls

Souls are also used to support your cards (or yourself). At this point, they have no soul cost or any other values (the only card of this kind is "Lost Soul" right now, which gives you 2 souls).

For example: Lost Soul, no costs at all (as shown in the picture below)

Spells
In Forgotten Lore, there are many spells (spread over different cards). The following list shows a detailed overview of all of the different spells.

Antidote: Cures all stacks of poison on any card.

Attack: Damages any card or player.

Awaken: Enables a used or newly summoned card.

Fissure: Clears the board in exchange for half of the HP of the summoner. Will not kill caster.

Frostfire: Damages and freezes enemy card for 1 turn. Does not stack or reset.

Heal: Heals any card.

MadSpell: When played, three seperate spells are cast; Each attacks the card with the highest HP for 1 damage, friend or foe.

Poison: Poisons any card. Stacks.

Protect: Protects all allied cards.

Roar: Lowers attack of an enemy card.

Sandstorm: Passively damages every card on the field, every turn.

Silence: Disables the use of any cards on the enemy's field for one turn. Can be canceled with Awaken.

Snipe: Any card summoned while this card is on the field will take 1 damage. Stacks.

Souls: Grants 2 souls when played on the field.

Spikes: Causes 1 recoil damage to any attacking card.

Sturdy: Cannot be killed in one blow.

Taunt: Prevents damage to card's owner.
