High Efficiency Blueprints
By Gyutaan
Want to squeeze every last bit of efficiency out of your buildings? This guide contains the custom blueprints that I use for some of the more advanced buildings. I don't guarantee that these are the 100% most optimal configurations possible, but they should help improve your manufacturing prowess. Just make sure your waste disposal system can handle it!

Blueprint Basics
Before we get into the blueprints themselves, let's go over some blueprint basics. First, ticks.

A tick is the unit of time measurement in Blueprint Tycoon. Workers in blueprints operate based on set time intervals, or ticks. Ticks are shorter when buildings are leveled up, resulting in higher crafting speed. Additionally, Harvesters placed on green tiles will have shorter ticks, whereas those placed on yellow or red tiles will have longer ticks, resulting in slower resource harvesting.

The duration of worker actions are counted in ticks. All actions (with the exception of welding) take only a single tick, including:
  • Moving one square
  • Picking up an object
  • Dropping an object
  • Harvesting

When planning out your own blueprints, the general rule of thumb is to minimize the number of ticks required to complete a task. To do this, you have a number of tools at your disposal. These tools are described below.

Basic Tools

None
Exactly what it sounds like. If the worker is not equipped with a tool, he can only carry one object and move one square per tick. There is no reason to have a worker with no tool.

Harvester
The Harvester is only available in, unsurprisingly, Harvester buildings. Workers with this tool stand on a Harvest square and gather resources. Kind of boring, but critically important.

Transport

Cart
With a cart, a worker can carry up to three objects at a time. He can still only pick up or drop one object per tick, though, and move one square per tick. This is your standard transport method, but sometimes you may want to use...

Launcher
The launcher is extremely useful in certain situations. When a worker equipped with a launcher picks up an object, he has the option to launch that object up to three squares in a cardinal direction (up/down/left/right) in a single tick. It should be noted that objects cannot be launched off of the blueprint; thus, firing towards the border while stationed three blocks away or less will cause the object to travel fewer than three squares.

Jetpack
If you don't want to use a cart of a launcher, the jetpack is a third option. WIth a jetpack equipped, workers have the ability to move two squares in a single tick (by pressing the corresponding arrow, not by simply moving the worker); however, he can only cary a single object. Play around with these three

Welding

Welder
A worker equipped with a welder can weld two adjoining ingredients in two ticks. However, if you need to weld more than three ingredients in a row, you should use...

Laser
The laser can weld up to four items in a line (three welds), but this takes three ticks. You may need to play around to determine if you save more time using a laser or a welder, depending on the blueprint layout.

Alpha Squares

Cloner
The cloner is an extremely useful tool. With the cloner equipped, a worker can carry an object to an Alpha square and duplicate the object in one tick; the newly-created object will then appear on the alpha square to be picked up by a worker, and one unit of Waste will be added to the building's output. Note that if an Alpha square is occupied by an object, a worker cannot duplicate another object until the first is picked up. A common tactic is to pair a cloner with a cart and to have the cart pick up the two cloned objects plus the original object (dropped by the cloner) and transport them to the Delivery square. Finally, only two items can be cloned per cycle, and the cloner will not function unless there is room for Waste in the building output.

Shredder
The shredder is another useful specialty tool. A worker equipped with a shredder can destroy the item he is carrying (provided he is standing on an Alpha square) in one tick. Obviously, the only item you would want to do this with is Waste; doing so can create a blueprint that generates reduced or even no Waste!

*Numbers are for overall Jetpack/Waste production. Game couldn't break values down, for some reason. Produces 4/6 Jetpack/Waste per cycle, instead of 2/4

Bread

Building Module

Produces 3/2 Building Module/Waste per cycle, instead of 1/2.

Butcher

Doubled up on Carts

Energy Drink

Only change made to Yellow Cart.

Fuel

By duplicating oil, this blueprint produces 9/3 Oil/Waste, instead of the standard 3/1.

Iron Ingot

Produces 3/3 Iron Ingot/Waste per cycle, instead of 3/1.

Jetpack

Laptop

Produces 3/2 Laptop/Waste per cycle, instead of 1/2.

Microchip

Only change made is order of component delivery and welds.

Nugget Factory

Made Blue pick up last nugget instead of waiting for Yellow.

Personal Assistant

Produces 3/5 Personal Assistant/Waste, instead of 1/3.

Platinum Ingot

Royale with Cheese

Screwdriver

Produce 3/4 Screwdriver/Waste, instead of 1/2.

Waste

Not going to lie, this is probably the most important building for you to optimize.
Scenario 6: Robot Supplier
Coming eventually maybe.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned in the description, these are not guaranteed to be the most optimal blueprints. However, these should give you some ideas for creating your own high-efficiency blueprints.I highly recommend playing around with the blueprint creator to get a feel for how everything works and how to maximize your efficiency.

If this was helpful, let me know. If there is enough interest, I will write out the individual steps for my blueprints included in this guide.

Good luck!

Thank you so much, this helped for the big of not having a waste disposal bluprint in the jewelry level.

Manged to get trash up to 30.9, for a total boost of 168%

Basically have two carts wich each focus on only handling 3 drops while the two laser guys take take of the remaining two (leaving a corner for them) and then torching it.

Great Guide, I love your work. We need to make a site for sharing our blueprints. I managed to get a waste print up to 25.1 but there are so many its hard to work on all of them.

Pretty sure it's just one tick. If the square is already occupied, it won't harvest until the square is freed, though, so that may cause some delays depending on your setup.
rft50 29 Jul, 2016 @ 6:51pm
I think that it actually takes 2 ticks to Harvest. Might be wrong though.

Glad you found it helpful! I agree it's a bit difficult to see the action order, so I may write out the actions at some point.
