Press the T button... boom done. FYI, do not use cheats in this game because it will corrupt your profile so anything you do and unlock will be unuseable. Also IDFKA cheats do not work, all the cheats but god mode have been removed with the most recent update. Id also like to point out that once you collect the BFG it tells you how to equip it...

I will say that I missed the tutorial on equipping this gun, since I tabbed to see its description and the game didnt have the tutorial on the menu, so I will thank this guide for saving me the time to alt-tab and google the answer.
