UPDATE - v1.0 will no longer support this feature
As BNG is becoming a paid game, this feature has been removed in fear of facing copyright infringement. I'm sorry that this feature is now long gone.

But if you want to, ask. :^)
Intro
So you've probably wondering, how in the world do other players were able to race as the classic Wipeout ships while you're stuck with these plebian, knock-off vanilla BnG ships?

Well, I'm here to teach you how to do just that. :^)
Step 1: Get a legit copy of Wipeout (1995) and/or Wipeout 2097

Uh, well...

If you're like me, where the actual game was not even sold in your country, you can download image files (.iso or .bin) of the games, ripped from it's PSX disc from various retro gaming sites. It's just a quick Google search away so I'm not posting any direct links, and yes this should be considered pirating.

If you have the chance, buy a legit copy. Tell Sony we need another Wipeout. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Step 2: Copy files into your BallisticNG\UserData\MyShips folder
If you do have a legit copy, insert the disk into your disk drive you should be able to drag and drop files straight from the explorer.

If you don't and you've downloaded image files instead, you need MagicISO to open .iso and .bin files the game comes with[www.magiciso.com], if you did not have an actual copy.

Wipeout 1995 has ALLSH.PRM and ALLSH.CMP

While Wipeout 2097 has TERRY.PRM and TERRY.CMP

Wipeout 3 is a bit tricker, and it must be the Special Edition for this to work.
First, extrack TRACKM0A.PBP, TRACKM0Y.PBP and TRACKS01.PBP from \WIPEOUT3 or \WIPEOUTC...

and rename them as the [bracketed] filename. It's case-sensitive.

Pull them into your \MyShips folder and you're good to go
Before this: Wip3out Models
Wip3out's installation used to be this.
In the WipeoutZone forums,[www.wipeoutzone.com] people have been tearing apart Wipeout games, just to see how it's made, for Snake and Xpand (who made BnG) actually succeeded in ripping Wip3out models when no one else could.

Originally posted by vincoof (WipeoutZone):
For some reason, bigsnake and Xpand managed to open the files and associate models to textures. You can download their work here. Many thanks for their help!

Right now, you need a copy of WO3SE to use WO3 ships now. but if you're still interested, check out the models of the ships right here,[mega.nz] but just remember it's still copyrighted to Sony Computer Entertainment, so don't use this on anything that can be profitable.

Congrats! It should work now.
And with that said, you're now able to ditch those bootleg BnG ships and race ships fueled with nostalgia! Have fun mates.

And also many wonderful thanks to vincoof[db.thttp] for helping out ripping models in the past. :D BnG might've been much less Wipeout-y if it wasn't for him.

If you ever met a problem or if the steps weren't clear enough, leave a comment below and let me know.

I wish someone would archive the models and tracks somewhere, because the admins disabled new users registration on the wipeoutzone forum and now most threads are locked out for us. damn. (and that someone would simply use the imported models for the OG wipeout ships.)

Yeah the only beta available from 1.0 is 0.9.4, too bad !
And the oldest beta I kept is 0.90, too bad also !
I still have the ships data, but unusable now... !

Now maybe something is possible with the ship importer, with some conversion tool or something... ?

This still works in version 0.7.2, under the beta tab of the game properties. Shh...

@swamp2k9
Yeah, that's an issue that is long hasn't fixed, I'll go ask the devs about it

The imports were successful! The only issue I found is that the Wipeout 1's ship stats are all 0/100.

Wait really? I don't remember it being like that XD It just looks so weird.

@Katcher That's how the ship is designed :^)
Pretty cool huh?

Got all the ships in no problem but the cockpit for the Assegai ship from Wipeout 3 is off centre to the right. Is there nothing that can be done about that or have I done something wrong?

@Parallel1984
Oh hey didn't realize I had a report, ah yes it's because you put WipeoutC instead of Wipeout3 , well glad you solved it yourself, sorry that I didn't respond lol :^)
