How To Download Custom Skins For TF2
By Franke
Hello, this is Fluffe again with a new guide!

This is a guide on how to download custom skins for TF2.

Please note that these skins doesn't work on servers with sv_pure 1 (all Valve Servers) except for custom HUD and animation overhauls/custom animation for your viewmodel/your hand and weapon.

Without further to do, let's begin!

For Windows
(Update, january 6 2017, i have cleaned my desktop now so stfu about it in the comments)
(Update, may 8 2017, i've got a new PC and i took the time to take care of my desktop)

Before you begin, i recommend that you have AdBlock on your computer. If you want to go without AdBlock, use atleast an anti-virus program.
(i use McAfee and adblock) because some ads on the site may be dangerous, as when i enter the site, it says that my anti-virus program has removed dangerous things like ads and other crap. This was before i installed AdBlock.

1. Go to http://gamebanana.com/skins/games/297

2. Choose category in the category tab and find a skin that you like and click on it, it can be weapon skins, playermodels, lightwarps, everything! (you can even download Type 1 skins for the Type 2 skins)
As you can see,
my anti-virus program is in full work!

3. Click the ''Manual Download'' button and then click the ''Download'' button.

4. Put the skin somwhere you can find it later like your desktop

5. Open File Explorer and go to ''My Computer'' and Windows
Go to ''Programs (x86)''
Go to ''Steam''
Go to ''SteamApps''
Go to ''Common''
Go to ''Team Fortress 2''
Go to ''TF''
Go to ''Custom''

5.
Open the zip file you downloaded, if it is a ''read-me'' on it, you can read it if you want

6. Open the zip-file that you downloaded, if it is a ''Read-Me'' text you can read it if you want.
Put the .vpk or tf file or in some cases, a zip file in the ''Custom'' folder

Done! Play the game and see if it works, if it don't see ''It don't work!'' below...
For Mac
Do 1-4 on the ''For Windows'' page, but you don't need anti-virus programs there because macs can fight of garbage n' stuff. Just don't click on the ads and you are fine

5. Open Finder or click at pure desktop (just click at your desktop where nothing is) so the Finder tab comes up in the top of the screen
Click on ''Go'' on the Finder tab, and click on ''Go to folder''

6. Write in this: ~/library/application support/steam/steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/tf/custom
you can just copy and paste, if it don't work write in this:
~/library/application support/steam

7. If the first string worked, skip to 8.
Go to ''SteamApps''
Go to ''Common''
Go to ''Team Fortress 2''
Go to ''TF''
Go to ''Custom''

8. Open the zip-file that you downloaded, if it is a ''Read-Me'' text you can read it if you want.
Put the .vpk or tf file or in some cases, a zip file in the ''Custom'' folder

Done! Play the game and see if it works, if it don't see ''It don't work!'' below...
For Linux
Seriously, do people still use that?
And if they would, would they play games on them?
It doesn't work!
Before you freak out in the comments, I DOESNT WORK! UR FAKE AND GAY! IM GONNA REPORT YOU OF BEING A LOSER! and other unnecessarily hate, you should check this page...

Here are some common problems:

Nothing's different:
1A. Putting in the wrong file
1B. Some skins just don't work anymore
1C. Putting it in in a way that TF2 cant find it

If your game wont start:
2A. 50/50 Folders

What to do answer sheet:
1A. Remove the skin from the ''custom'' folder and go back to the zip-file, if it is one, read the
''Read-Me'' and try to put the skin in on another way. If that dont work either, it may be a 2A
1B. You can't use that, its outdated
1C. Put in the actual skin, not the whole zip file (this can vary)
2A. Some skinfolder makes the game unstartable, remove them

If you want a better answer, send the download link to me and i can see whats wrong.
Thank's
