Quick Set Up Guide
OVERVIEW
---------------

The custom controls is split between 2 sections.

1) Buttons

2) Axis

A button is something that is pressed/clicked and an axis is an analogue movement such as a joystick or thumb stick. For example the fire primary button is a click and thrust is an axis.

Currently all controls which are plug and play also populate the list, so using the left hand side column to locate the name (eg thrust, move etc) and then selecting/overwriting a mapping by clicking the currently assigned button.

Once selected press the key or move the new desired axis.

Now this key should be set as the new settings which can be confirmed with the text displayed.

To set an axis, there must be a a Min and max. Eg a thrust axis would have 2 inputs and one would be -1, and the other 1. -1 would be for reverse thrust, and 1 would be for forward thrust. This number can be changed accordingly to suit your sensitivity needs.

Once you have set all the controls you are ready to play. Dont forget to plug in your controller/hotas before starting the game.

This guide is obsolete. The controls are set in the game options, set custom controls. You click on axis to set the main axis, and buttons to set buttons. Simply press the axis or button you want to set, then press the disred button axis to set it. The number is for sensitivity, eg 1 would 0.5 to change sensitivity and use a - to invert axis.

FIND BUT HOW TO SETUP CONTROLLERS [ I NEED TO BE SHOWN] STEP BY STEP PLEASE

I've got pitch and yaw working on the Fighterstick, just need to play around with the throttle and see if I can get my pedals to work for roll. Once I've got it I'll post it the lines for the CH Setup on the main HOTAS thread. About to go to bed so might not be for a bit though.

Eiditng the axis is required for some, so that should fix it for you. Just follow the steps (back a few posts) where you copy and paste the HOTAS part, and replace the button wioth axis.

This may take some playing around, so it would really help out the community if the guys who have set theirs up post some info to axis numbers on certain sticks, it will save everyone a lot of time.

Thanks for getting back to me NAILS. I had already tried deleteing the Input.ini file but with no success. Pretty much have the same issues as some of the people on the thread you linked where the buttons are being recognised but not the axis.

I'll try editing the Input.ini file in notepad like they did to see if I can get it to work.

Hi Runebinder, you need to delete the input file, load up the game and it will create the new one. For more info on setting up a hotas, be sure to check out solutions here :

Additionally I have also tried restarting the PC and not loading the CH Control manager so that Windows is managing the HOTAS setup but that hasn't helped either.

Hi,

Just got round to trying this out. Controls completely unresponsive in Test Flght.

Went to the WindowsNoEditor folder however I can't see a file called defaultinput.ini. I have:

Compat.ini
DeviceProfiles.ini
EditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini
Engine.ini
Game.ini
GameplayTags.ini
GameUserSettings.ini
Input.ini
Lightmass.ini
Scalability.ini

I tried creating a new map profile in the CH Control Manager so all the direct controls are at their defaults. Still no response. I closed the game and deleted the Input.ini files and although the custom control layout is more simplified still nothing in Test Flight.

The only thing I can get it to recognise are the buttons on my stick and throttle for setting any axis. Short of uninstalling and reinstalling the game do you have any ideas?

A new update is available (0.64) which makes this much more simple.

With Axis, use two slots for same axis, one is -, and the other positive. 1 is the default sensitivity setting, you can change this as desired, eg -.05 and 0.5 on the Pitch/up/down.

The new version is much more simplified. If you have set up your HOTAS then it should be fine as it is. If you dont see the new setup controls for axis and buttons, you need to :

Delet the "defaultinput.ini" file located in " C:\Users\ **Your account** \AppData\Local\CDFStarfighter\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor/"

(You need to have "Show hidden files/folders" enabled in folder options)

Once this is deleted, load up the game again, and you will have the new simlified layout.

You can now go back to options and use the Test Flight to test all your new controls :)

Hi, I'm using a CH setup; Fighter Stick, Pro Throttle and pedals. I go into the control mapping options and choose Axis. However when I select an item to over write it I get asked to press an Axis button. It does not register any axis I move but it does pick up any of the buttons on my CH kit.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here.
