Maha'ki to English Guide for Spells

Introduction
Maha'ki to English

This is my first guide, and it's not really a gameplay guide - maybe more of a 'lore guide'.

It's my attempt at a 'near' translation of the Maha'ki language of In Verbis Virtus. I got it mostlty from the context of the spells, but also a bit from the cutscenes with Veritas and her subtitles.

One reason I did this was to make the spells easier to remember and perhaps more intuitive. For me, remembering "Project Light" in my head and translating it into Maha'ki seems easier - and also more immersive. Hopefully some people will also benefit from this too.

Please note the 'grammar' is a little weird and I'm by no means a linguist, and for some spells there is assumed conjunctions conjuctions and particles, etc. Also, some words I was uncertain about. Feedback is certainly welcome.
Spell Words
  • Aghni: Fire

  • Atul: Send/Transport

  • Ekto: Project/Distant

  • Ibohn: Ice/Cold

  • Kehnu: Movement

  • Lumeh: Light

  • Mideh: Water

  • Munio: Field

  • Namet: Self

  • Notem: Release

  • Obee: Object

  • Opun: Stop/Place

  • Tial: Invoke/Command/Activate (aka "let there be" or "I will it")

  • Udah: Mark/Glyph

  • Yeggah: Healing
Spell Translations
Thus the spells would translate like this:

Light: Lumeh Tial - "Light, I invoke."

Beam of Light: Ekto Lumeh - "Project light."

Mark of Command: Tial Udah - "I command this mark."

Telekinesis: Obee Kehnu - "Object movement."

> > > Stasis: Opun Obee - "Cease movement."

Heal: Yeggah Mideh - "Healing waters."

Mark of Fire: Atul Aghni - "Send Fire"
> > > Detonate Mark: Udah Notem - "Release glyph."

Teleport: Namet Atul - "Self Transport."
> > > Careful Teleport: Notem Atul Opun - "Release Transportation (at viewed) Place."

Shield: Munio Namet - "Field (protecting) Self."
> > > Reflect: Atul Ekto - "Send (energy) distant."

Wall of Fire: Aghni Munio - "Fire Field."

Freezing Beam: Ibohn Ekto - "Ice, project."
Future Spells?
Using these foundations, perhaps future spells could be created (maybe by mods, or future DLC, etc). A few random examples I thought up:

Walk on Water - Mideh Kehnu
Stop Time - Opun Munio Tial
Mark of Light - Lumeh Udah
> > > Cage of Light - Notem Lumeh Munio (Cast on Mark of Light).
Mend Broken Object - Obee Yeggah
Summon Rain of Fire - Tial Ekto Agni Mideh

I think "Tevanum Udaki" might mean "Energy barrage" or "Barrage of energy". I think so because all "Atul" effects work with something single (one orb of fire, all energy in one shield, ect.) and all "Ekto" effects is beam or constant stream.
Also some of possible spells:
Aghni Tial - Fire, I invoke (fire touch or light touched object)
Lumen Kehnu - Move light (a.k.a. invisibility or some form of illusion)
Notem Obee - Release object (in meaning launch)

It's been a while since I played. I apologize, but I'm not recalling what the 'Shar-Seth' spells were, or from what part of the game they were used.
As for your question, my *guess* would be that Ekin could translate to 'Earth' or 'Stone'. Thus the spell is to 'awaken the earth' (to aid the caster in combat). In some languages 'awaken' is often a synonym of 'rise' (as in 'rising from sleep'). So it could also be a command for the earth (or floor) to 'rise'.

Great job, dude! But what about Shar-Seth special spells? Like "Tevanum Udaki" and "Mohot Ekin"?

From one of OST track's name and it's translation known that "Mohot" stands for "Awakening", but IDK what "Tevanum", "Udaki" and "Ekin" coud mean)

Tevanum Udaki launches energy projectiles, and Mohot Ekin creates spikes on floor in front of caster. But witn that "Awakening"... How could this freaking "Ekin" be possibly translated? :D
