Role Play is to act and speak as if you are the character you’re portraying. To roleplay is as much about what not to say as what TO say. It means to keep your speech in the context of the setting in which your character exists. Context can be defined as both time and place. Common terms used are IC (In-Character) and OOC (out of Character). Parenthesis are use for OOC talk during a scene ((like so)). With Wildstar you can portraying an Aurin Spellslinger as a member of FCON, or a Mechari Medic in the Royal Collegium as simple examples. Roleplay, in all, is using your imagination.

You can use wildstar-roleplay.com as a resource guide but there are also blogs you can visit as well. However we won’t be going into the tiny details that are specific to Wildstar RP because its your character and you can do what you want with them.

Having fun is the main point of Role Play. Its why we do it. If you’re not having fun then certainly change things up. It should never feel like your obligated to do something you don’t enjoy.

No one likes a jerk. Unfortunately it is common in the Gaming Culture to be rude and sarcastic but really serves no true purpose. Wildstar is a Game, but Players are People. If its something you wouldn’t say to a stranger or a friend, its probably not a good idea to say it. Let alone, what you send out on the internet stays there.

Now this doesn’t mean your Character cannot be mean, but you as a Player need a thick skin to play such. In Role Play your Character is most likely the first impression you will make to the Community and coming off as a jerk tends to result in people shying away from you. So remember to be flexible if you plan on playing a very gruff Character.

If something is really bothering you or not comfortable with a Role Play with someone, tell them. Players will understand if you be direct about it. Besides, no one is a mind reader and won’t know something is wrong if you don’t speak up.

Something to keep in mind is that speaking up doesn’t mean to tell to other people without confronting the instigator first (that’s called gossip), unless you need a mediator. It’s okay to ask a pal to mediate an issue but make sure they agree to do that before talking about the issue. If you do end up having a mediator know they are trying to help and may have some criticism to your own actions.

We love to know what will happen next or what is planned. We may also have per-conceived ideas about an event or a player. And when it doesn’t meet our standards we are disappointed and sometimes angry about it. The thing is having expectations is something you put down upon yourself – it is nobody’s responsibility but your own. By keeping an open-mind you’re bound to have more fun than just wallowing in self-imposed disappointment.
