I am not the best Auralux player around, but I can hold my ground. I have been playing Auralux since the Aurora days (2011). :)
Tip #1
Sometimes abandoning your home planet is the best strategy. Especially if it is in the position that both opponents want it badly.

For example, in the level below, you start in between orange and green so it can be useful to leave your base and colonize elsewhere. This will encourage orange and green to fight over your defenseless planet while you utilize that extra time to gain power.

Tip #2
In some rare cases, abandoning ALL your planets is the only way to win.

In the example below (Corona), I started with the bottom 3 planets.

Then as soon as either green or orange start attack I retreat all units to the middle.

Next I wait until one side starts having an advantage over the other. When it seems like that is happening, I take all my units and attack them in the middle of their power. In this case, orange was starting to win so I attacked the big orange sun. This allowed green to fight them on the outside and me to fight them from the middle and eventually I won.

This is not the only strategy that wins this level, but it is a good example for my Tip #2.
Tip #3
Staying defensive and building units while your enemies battle is always a good strategy. At least worth trying once or twice if you are stuck. (This one is hard for me because I don’t like sitting still)

This one is pretty straightforward, but here is a screenshot example anyways.

Once you have green and orange consistantly fighting over one planet, this is the perfect time to sit back and watch them fight until you have enough units to win it all.
Tip #4
You can influence your enemies to fight if you poke at them the right way. It may be worth using some of your units in order to draw them into battle with each other.

There are several ways to bait them into fighting.
One is to capture a planet they both want and then abandon it. When they see it sitting there defenseless, they will fight over it.
Two is pretend to join the fight. If orange and green have been fighting for a while and then it seems like they stop and one of them has the advantage, you can join the fight and send some units into the battle so they feel threatened enough to keep fighting.
Tip #5
Supernovas are equally defensive as they are offensive. Use them to destroy enemy units headed toward your base area.

In the Castles example below, you can see green has sent a large force to capture my planet, but I used my supernova at the same time and destroyed green's units and saved my planet.

Tip #6
There is a very slight visual difference in the pulse around your planet when you have enough units to upgrade or capture a new planet (100 units).
