[1] Disable Webcam
1. Launch Burnout Paradise, select Configuration and press Play.

2. Change the Webcam setting to None.

3. Open up Device Manager.

4. Click Imaging devices, right click your current one and click Disable.

Now try to launch the game. If it works, you're done. If not, go to the next chapter.
[2] Compatibility Mode
1. Go on your Steam library and right click on Burnout Paradise and click on Properties.

2. Click on Local Files on the top and then click on Browse Local Files.

3. Right click on BurnoutParadise.exe and click on Properties.

4. Click on Compatibility on the top, tick the Run this program in compatibility for: box on, select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and finally press Apply.

If everything went well, you should be able to launch the game now.

Phew, I'm lost on step 1 - "Launch Burnout Paradise, select Configuration and press Play "

Where when I launch Burnout paradise the program crashes before I can "select configuration" - where exactly do I press this configuration button" because I totally cannot find that screen hahaha

Brand new Windows 10 PC, fresh Steam and fresh copy of Burnout Paradise. My machine is well within specs but I am way out of my league trying to fix this dang thing!

Works for me on Windows 8.1! Thank you so much! :D
To anyone else on Windows 8, you get into Device Manager by searching for it from the Start screen - you can just start typing and the search box will come up

Fixed the crashing issue thanks to Th3OnlyCaptain and i quote "From your Steam library, select Burnout Paradise and right click it and select properties. Then click set launch options and enter in "-multithread"."

You should add it to your guide as a third solution!
