Intro
So, you have bought the game and now want to get a horse to make your travels easier, and to train in the future (when training gets implemented into the game.) This guide is here to tell you how to go about getting, and taming a horse for you to keep. Now, before I begin, here are the required objects you need in order to be able to tame your equine companion. You will need:

A Carrot (310 coins, found at the Vegetable Trader. If you do not have enough money, cut wood, and craft iron ingots. Sell those materials to get some coin for the carrots.)
A Sense of Direction
Patience (It make take a while before you find a horse.)
Looking For a Horse
Horses in the game are fairly easy to come by. It just takes a bit of running around the map before you come across one. There are a few different colours, and three different breeds to choose from when wanting a horse. There is:

A Wild Horse (No Specific Breed)

This horse is the most common horse found on the map, from what I have seen. They come in Bay, Black, Grey, and paint (aka pinto). This horse can be found on the mainland, and on the Island (to get to the Island, you have to first talk to the travel agent, located south of Woodhill farm.) They are fairly easy to tame, and to locate. The most common colours to come by for the wild horse are grey, black, and bay. The paint is a bit more rare to come by.

Arabian

This horse is rare, and comes in only one colour: Grey. It can be found near Woodhill. Head a bit South from the big Hay Bales, and head toward the beach. The horse is located at the foot of one of the mountains between Woodhill and the Beach. I've also come cross an Arabian at the Island (just one so far.)

Friesian (Pictured farthest away from the paint horse)

The Friesian is another hard-to-come by breed. It can be found only in black, and has beautiful feathering on its legs. I have not yet come across the Friesian. I am told that they spawn by the Mountains around Lost Woods.
Taming A Horse
So, now you know what horse to go for? Great! Now, you can go out into the world and tame the hooved creature. Now, before you run off to tame your horse, you have to make sure to have carrots on you. Carrots are used to feed the horse. I bought myself four carrots, but found that I only needed one to tame my horse.

First, insert the carrots into the quickslot bar so that they are easier to pull out when you want to feed your desired horse. Explore either the mainland, or go out to the Island for your desired horse. I found that there are more horses located on the Island than on the Mainland. So far, only the Arabian, black wild horse, and grey wild horse are found on the Mainland. The bay and more black wild horses can be found on the Island.

Next, once you are close to your horse, get into first person mode (it is easier to feed the horse the carrot.) Do you have the carrot on one of your quickslots? Good! Press the number associated with the quickslot the carrot is under. The carrot should be visible in your hand. Once you have that underway, all you have to do is left click on the horse to feed it the carrot.

Then... you are done! You now have the ability to name your horse and pull it out of your stable whenever you feel the need to ride it. To access your horse after you have tamed it, press H to view your stable, and click on your horse's name. And there you have it; a horse to call your very own! Congratulations!

In Conclusion

Well, I hope you guys enjoy your equine companion in Riding Out. For now, there is not much to do with your horse, other than to ride it around the world. In the future, the game plans to add training, breeding, competitions, and many more horse breeds into the game. I may create future guides for those aspects of the game, and update this guide if any changes come to the taming system in the game. I hope you enjoyed reading, and hope this helps you to catch your very own horse. Have a good day!
