Prepare To Face Your Foes
I'll get right down to it, but first, I'll give credit where credit is due!

~~~These are the users Reddit names.~~~
  • Thank you Shadowedimage for creating the mod!
  • Thank you nkay08 for making a step-by-step how to use the mod!
NOTE: This requires you to install Cheat Engine. If you're completely against Cheat Engine, this mod will NOT work without it.
Cheat Engine: http://www.cheatengine.org/
Mod Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ijs0xlrner8o9wj/FirstPersonModCurrentPatch.CT?dl=0
(No installation required, simply launch it after it finishes, extract if needed)
Now, once you've downloaded the CE and the CE Table (which is the mod), you're good to go!
----------------------------------------------------
Also: This works in the non-beta, most recent version of the game. This works with both Watchdog and DSfix mods active. I have not tested this extensively in the beta, though it seems to crash the game immediately when attempting so. If you find a solution (or if it works just fine) do tell, and I'll add that information to the guide.
----------------------------------------------------
The following steps are not created by me- They were made by nkay08. I added the pictures where needed. On the gifs, be sure to look to the right of 'em. I cannot fix the text. For some reason, it's staying put on the right side of the gifs, so look there so you don't miss any steps!
  • Install Cheat Engine
  • Start Dark Souls and load a game
  • Open the CT file
  • Click the computer symbol and select dark souls.exe
  • Double click on <script> next to ChrAimCam. A window should open
  • Copy the green value in aobscan and close that window
  • Select Array of Bytes as Value type and paste the value into the value search field
    click First Scan
  • it should find something on the left. if it doesn't, try removing some Characters from the end of the value you pasted. -> New Scan -> First Scan
  • Double click the search result and it should add a new line below "Toggle Camera Mode"
  • Double click on the value of that new line and copy the value mine said :
    B8 1E 85 3E 0A D7 C3 3F 00 00 00 00 9A 99 19 3F B8 1E 85 3E 0A D7 C3 3F 00 00 00 00 9A 99 19 3F CD CC 4C 3F CD CC 4C 3F 9A 99 19 3F 00 00 80 3F CD CC 4C 3F CD CC 4C 3F CD CC 4C 3E 00 00
  • double click on <script> next to ChrAimCam again and replace the green value with the new copied one
  • Toggle "First Person Cam" on
  • Toggle "Toggle Camera Mode " on and change the value to 176
  • Toggle "ChrAimCam" on and select a FOV. I recommend 80 Mid (Guide Creator Note: Mid selections are fine, but if you plan on dual-weilding your weapons, you'll want to use Close selections so the shield on your back DOESN'T cover your screen.
  • Change "Toggle Camera Mode" value back to 128 (Sometimes this defaults to 160, but it seems to harm nothing. Might be due to selecting Close rather than Mid.)
  • Enable "ProtectorParam" and "WeaponParam"
  • Choose "Hide all armor not worn by NPC" under "ProtectorParam". optionally hide gloves
    Unequip your armor and reequip it (Guide Creator Note: I've had issues with this step, and it works much better if you select "Hide All Armor Sets" first, unequip and re-equip your armor, then uncheck "Hide All Armors" and check "Hide all armor not worn by NPC", so you will avoid seeing NPCs being afflicted by the Rayman effect. This change will happen immediately, without the need to change loadzones or anything of the sort. The same NPC you're looking at if you do this change in front of one will take a bit to shift to the new effect.)
And that's it! First Person on Dark Souls!
...there's a few drawbacks, however.
  • If you die, you must close out the game and the mod, and redo the process again. Most of the time, the game will crash when you leave it, but my save data has yet to be affected by this.
    However!
    A user on the forums has managed a way to re-enable the camera after death without closing the game and booting it up again.
    After death, open back up cheat console.
    1. set first person cam to 176
    2. set first person cam to 128
    3. disable/re-enable chraimcam
    4. disable/re-enable FOV
    5. disable crosshair (optional)
    Should be go to go! Armor should still be invisible so no need to reset that. I really like the idea of this but it's a pain to keep restarting, thought i'd share my findings!
    Thanks, Penguin!
  • Perhaps it's a challenge, but your camera DOES NOT LOCK ON when you Lock On to foes. Your camera will never be manipulated by anything but your own inputs to it. Your character will still always face the target, so you won't have to worry about blocking awkwardly (except for the not looking part of it).
  • An upside is that you can look straight up and straight down.
If everything has been done right, Dark Souls will look like this!
Lastly, if you wish to not have the crosshair on your screen, here's how you turn it off.
You have to completely close the game and setup the mod again.
Death resets the camera in the game, which completely screws with the mod.
My first time using it I was able to move my camera around without my body and run around, my second try after dying now it seems the game isn't letting me use items (Estus, binocs) and is stuck in the archer perspective. Anyone know how to fix this?
Ahh... sorry for the link. But it is at jeuxvideopc.com anyway. And thanks Odyessy. What you have doing is well appreciated.
If someone want to find the first person mod on some versions of Dark souls 2, not Scholar of the first sin, there is one at the following address: www.jeuxvideopc.com/jeux/dark/souls-2/mods/56753-first-person-mod . Under Windows 10, you will probably not be able to run it. But, i know that it is possible to use that mod on Windows 8. I just dont know how.
Ahahaha, I'm no modder. I had to dig for a while to find a mod AND instructions on how to do them, hence the credits I gave at the top of the guide. This mod isn't mine, I'm simply making it easier for people to get the information.
This mod is awesome. I know there is one for dark souls 2. He is hard to find because links are broken. And he is running only with Windows 7 and some version of the game. I think someone like Odyessy should make a new version of that mod availlable for dark souls 2 too.
ok thx
it has no effect on saves, it just modifies camera angle, which is not related to the save data
MythlyInari  [author] 9 Mar, 2017 @ 6:15am
As much as I've tried it, I've yet to run into save issues.
You can back it yourself if you want, but there's no harm, it just modifies the camera angle, it won't really touch your character, beyond visibility.
