Hello everyone!
I made some notes while I was playing and I have decided to share those notes here. This is my first guide so any suggestions on how to make it better as well as added input for the guide are greatly appreciated. Since there are 60 achievements, I designed this guide in such a way to try and group achievements based on their type. If you need to find a specific achievement then use ctrl + F to find them.

I'm writing this guide using version 1.0.5 so if anything changes please let me know.
Some tips I've picked up
I am going to start off with some gameplay tips and then move onto the achievements.

Potions are actually really important

As with any RPG, having potions can be a huge lifesaver. I initially used all my gems to get my damage to maximum. Towards the middle of the story, I started to struggle when monsters were more likely to inflict status effects on tiles. I recommend spending the gems to have at least 2-3 of each type of potion because bad tiles and bad luck can be deadly. I went for more of a lifesteal approach as well to be extra safe.

Pausing the game without losing vision of tiles

I found this one by mistake. Clicking monsters to reveal their health and attack stats actually pauses the game with your tiles fully visible. This is very useful during the time trials (the second star of story mode).

Gem piles are useful for challenges

I will go into more detail about this in later sections but basically the gem pile is a free hit. Use it to grind quests and achievements.

Affixes and combination words

If you're having trouble making bigger words, try to see if you can make the word you have bigger. Affixes are morphemes (a building block of a word) that you can add to your word. For example, the prefix re- can be added to 'use' to form 'reuse'. The suffix -ly can be added to 'bad' to create 'badly'. Another way to make bigger words is to combine them. For example, 'fire' combined with 'place' give you the word 'fireplace'. If English isn't your first language but you love the game then keep these in mind while you're playing. You don't always need a dictionary to make big words.
Story Mode
These are achievements that you can only get from the Story Mode. Other achievements can be attempted or grinded in Story or Endless Mode.

Starbitrary, Superstar and Rock Star

You need to earn 29, 99 and 120 yellow stars for these achievements. The story mode has 30 story stages and 10 hard stages. Each stage will have 3 yellow stars and a red crystal star. The stages are divided into normal, time trial, challenge and elite stages. Completing the first star of each story stage will earn you the first achievement. Around 80% into getting the stars, the second achievement will pop and finally once you're done with all 120 the last achievement will pop.

Part Of The Way Dare and Walk Of Fame

The story mode has 30 story stages and 10 hard stages. Each stage will have 3 yellow stars and a red crystal star. Red crystal stars are earned by completing the final 'elite' stages. Completing half of the crystal stars - 20 crystal stars - will earn you the first achievement. The other achievement will pop once you are done with all 40 .

Show Me The Money

Gem piles are found at the end of stages in Story Mode and you need to destroy 100 of them. The more damage you do the more gems you can obtain from the pile. If you are going for the 120 star and 40 red crystal star achievements then you will be seeing a minimum of 160 gem piles. You will definitely get this as you progress with the achievements.

What're Ya Buyin'?

For this achievement you need to buy 50 items from the merchant that appears in some of the stages. The merchant uses the gems that you collect from killing monsters in that stage. You will get this achievement as you progress through the Story Mode stages.

Librarian and We Have The Technology

These achievements deal with the stores that you can use to upgrade and enhance your character. For the Librarian achievement, you need to buy 5 books from the bookstore. The other achievement will pop after you have bought 30 upgrades from any of the stores. Using gems to purchase upgrades will contribute towards the achievement for spending 25000 gems.

Book Smart and Knowledge Is Power

These achievements deal with book experience. As you kill monsters, you will gain experience for your books at the end of the stage. You can click monsters to see how much experience each one will give. You will earn these for getting 1000 experience and a fully upgraded book respectively.

Saving Up and It's a Bling Thing

These both deal with how many gems you have. Even though the achievement is called 'Saving Up' it counts gems even if you have spent them. After you get 15000 gems, the achievement will pop regardless of how much you actually have. The same concept goes for the other achievement. The achievement will pop as soon as you spend 25000 gems.

Showing Off

You need to complete the stage on full health. This is a very easy achievement and can be done in several ways:
  • Killing everything on the stage with one blow or managing to dodge attacks.
  • Healing with a potion before delivering the final hit.
  • Using life steal to always be on full health.
  • Using books that heal you.
  • Using tile crystals to heal.

Need A Pick Me Up?

This achievement say that you need to purchase 10 potions but it doesn't say where. The only potions that count towards this achievement are the ones bought from the potion store (the same place you buy your upgrades). Potions bought from the merchants in the stages or Endless Mode do not count.

Quest King (or Queen!)

You will need to complete all 70 quests that are given to you during the Story Mode. If you complete a quest, you must finish the stage for a new quest to be given. If you die with a completed quest then the quest will remain completed but you will not be given a new one until you complete a stage. Most of the quests are quite easy. Many of the quests follow the same formula but with different values, some examples include:
  • Use x number of y tiles e.g. use 8 plague tiles.
  • Use the letter x a y number of times e.g use the letter 'V' 10 times.
  • In a single game use x number of letters from y position e.g. in a single game use 25 letters from the top row.
  • Deal x damage e.g. deal 7000 damage.
  • Take x damage e.g. take 2500 damage.
  • Spell x number of y type of words e.g. spell 5 palindromes.
  • Open x number of treasure chests e.g. open 5 treasure chests.
  • Etc.
If you are struggling with a quest, you can always pay 100 gems to skip it. Skipping a quest will count it as completed but I recommend completing quests as they give a lot of gems.
Gem piles are cheats without cheating
Since you can infinitely shuffle at the gem piles without worrying about taking damage, here are some achievements that you could grind there. If you are aiming to finish all the stars and crystal stars then you will see a minimum of 160 gem piles (way more than you need for these achievements). You don't need to grind one gem pile but rather do these achievements as you progress. These achievements can be done on any mode but I recommend using the gem piles in Story Mode - which is why I made this section.

Swappy McSwappington

You need to swap your letters 50 times. This is very straightforward and can be done as early as Stage 1. Just spam that swap button at the gem pile.

A Man, A Plan, A Canal, Panama

You will need to spell 25 palindromes. These are words that can be read the same in reverse e.g. mom, dad, wow, level, tenet, rotator, etc. Very easy to shuffle for these at a gem pile.

Yay Everyday Royalty

You need to spell a word with 2 'Y's. You can spell the word 'YAY' and it will also count towards your palindrome achievement. The gem pile is actually hax.

Row Row Row Your Boat

You need to use a whole row in one word three times. This is also easy with shuffling - it might take a little longer than the other achievements mentioned so far.

It's BACON!!!!!!!!!! and Honorary Bacon Bandit

These are pretty easy to get but take more luck than skill. These will both use the same method of shuffling letters at the gem pile. Keep shuffling until you get the letters necessary for 'BACON' and then at another gem pile you can go for 'BANDITS'.

See You in 'Sept'ember and 'Oct'oberfest

To get these achievements, you need to spell 10 7-letter words and 5 8-letter words respectively. If you struggle to make these length words then use the gem piles to help you get the achievement.

WHY?

You need to spell 3 words with no vowels e.g. 'why', 'cry', 'zzz'. These are easily done at the gem piles but you will probably get them as you progress naturally.
Possibly quick and easy

Crystal Conqueror

You need to spell a word containing 2 or more crystal tiles. This is very easy to get and will come as you progress. If you are really having trouble with crystal tiles not popping up often enough, you can increase your chances in a few ways. By doing all of these, your chance to get a crystal tile will be at 4%:
  • Having 'Crystals!' upgrade maxed.
  • Using max level Crystal Clasher scythe.
  • Using Grimm instead of Rose (Grimm has a 0.10% better chance of getting crystals).

What Was The Point?

You will need to make a word that deals no damage. This achievement can be done in a number of ways so it will probably happen naturally as you progress. Here are the ways:
  1. Using only cracked tiles.
  2. Using only plagued tiles.
  3. Not meeting the requirements to damage a monster e.g. monsters that can only be damaged by 4-letter words, monsters that only take damage if you use more than one corner letter, etc.

Printing Press

Mini-boss and boss monsters can generally use more than one status ailment. The later into the story mode you are, the more rounds the status effects will last for. You will need a bit of luck here as well. You will need the status effect 'Duplicator' to last 5 rounds to cover your whole board. Once you get hit with the status, just keep shuffling until it covers your whole board. You can try to get this achievement at many instances e.g. Carl Cloner, Esq on Stage 17 (he is also on other stages such as Stage 22, Stage 26 and Endless Mode).

All Plagued Out

Mini-boss and boss monsters can generally use more than one status ailment. The later into the story mode you are, the more rounds the status effects will last for. You will need a bit of luck here as well. You will need the status effect 'Plague' to last 5 rounds to cover your whole board. Once you get hit with the status, just keep shuffling until it covers your whole board. You can try to get this achievement at many instances e.g. Spike Spikeson on Stage 19 (he is also on other stages such as Stage 25, Stage 29 and Endless mode).
Grab your rabbit's foot and four-leaf clover
These are achievements based on luck and rely on random number generation. Don't worry though, there are ways to increase your chances.

Sidestepper

For this achievement you need to dodge 50 times. You should have a 14% chance to dodge with the following:
  • Grimm's scythe will increase your dodge chance by 2% at max level.
  • The 'Dodgy!' upgrade will increase your dodge chance by 10% at max level.
  • Rose has a 2% higher dodge chance than Grimm.

Critically Acclaimed

You need to land 100 critical hits. Just like the achievement for dodging, the chance of landing a critical hit can be increased. There are only two things that you can do to increase the critical hit chance. You should have a 12.5% chance to critical hit with the following:
  • Bone Crusher scythe will increase your chance to hit a critical by 4.5% at max level.
  • Rose has a 3% higher chance to hit a critical than Grimm.

You, The Master Of Unlocking

You need to open a treasure without guessing incorrectly. Sounds impossible but the game does give you a helping hand. The achievement can be made a lot easier using the 'Easier Guessing' book. If you are struggling even with a max level 'Easier Guessing' book then you can always Google a hangman solver to help you. The first and easiest treasure chest to get to is on Stage 4.
MATHEMATICAL!

Close call

You need to win the stage on 1 health. This one will require some math skills and can be done at almost any point in the game. It's better to have some armour and health upgrades so you can control the incoming damage. I found that stage 3 is a nice place to get this achievement because one monster does an even numbered damage and the other does an odd numbered damage. The monsters are also quite weak so it's easier to control the damage received.

So Close!

Get a monster down to 1 health. This one is very easy to do and happens often enough. If you want this achievement quickly to get it out the way then you can get it on stage 2. A character with no bonus attack is necessary to do this without requiring additional math - perhaps use a new character. The monster on level 2 has 75 health. A four letter word with 3 bronze and 1 silver does 28 damage. A four letter word with 4 bronze does 26 damage. A three letter word with 3 bronze does 20 damage. 28 + 26 + 20 = 74. This is just an example and there are plenty of variations.

Tile Trouble

Kill yourself using tile damage. The easiest way to get this is using spike tiles but poison tiles also inflict damage. Many of the bosses and mini-bosses use spikes i.e. Just Bunny on stage 18 can use duplicator, plague and spike tiles. You need a little bit of luck and math on your side. If you have the 'Player Health Bar Preview' it makes this achievement a little easier since you can see how much damage you are going to receive. Each spike tile you use will do exactly 20 damage to you - so if you use 2 spike tiles it will do 40 damage and so on.

Precision Striking

You need to kill 5 monsters with exact damage. This does not mean you need to hit them for their full health but rather that your final hit must deal damage equal to the monster's remaining health. You can pull out the calculator and do the math if your character is upgraded but you can do this very easily with a new character. The easiest stage to do this is Story Mode stage 1. A character without upgrades will do 20 damage with a 3-letter word made up of bronze tiles (the single dot tiles). The monster on stage 1 has 60 health. Hitting this monster 3 times with 3-letter words made with bronze tiles will kill it with exact damage.
Achievements that count
I will list the more grindy achievements here. These can be done during Story Mode or Endless Mode.

Sir Punch A Lot and Sir Punch A Bunch

These will unlock naturally as you complete the game. If you really need to grind this achievement, I suggest going to a boss or mini-boss monster that takes a large amount of damage i.e. Elite Will Wolfe on Hard Stage 5 will take 10x damage with words containing the letter 'Q'. These achievements should pop (without grinding) during the story mode stages after dealing 10000 and 25000 damage.

Spelling Bee Champ and Born To Spell

To get these achievements you need to make 1500 and 2500 words. After getting 120 stars and 40 red crystal stars, you should have more than 1500 words. You will need to grind 750 words on Endless Mode for the achievement which will put you in the 2000s. I kept grinding in Endless Mode till I had 2500 words because it seemed like the easiest method but you can fight monsters in Story Mode that have special conditions e.g. using 3-letter words against a monster that only takes damage from 4-letter words.

Six Pack

For this achievement you will need to make 50 6-letter words. This will come naturally as you progress. A tip: see if suffixes such as -s or -ing and prefixes such as re- and un- can make your word into 6 letters.

Pin Cushion

For this achievement you need to take 10000 damage. This will happen naturally as you progress through the game.

Eh Eee Eye Owe You and Letter To The Editor

These two achievements will come as you progress and will definitely pop before you reach 2500 words. You will need to use 2500 vowels and 5000 letters respectively.

In The Corner and Top Shelf!

These achievements are for using specific tiles and will come without you even noticing. You will need to use 500 corner and 500 top row tiles respectively.

Monster Masher

You need to kill 250 monsters for this achievement. This will come as you progress. Monsters from Endless Mode will count towards this achievement as well.

FEELING REALLY GOOD!

You need to make 200 words that contain double letters. This will come as you progress. To encourage you to use double-letter words, there are monsters that take extra damage from words that contain double letters.

My Precious

You need to use 100 crystal tiles for this achievement.

I Wonder What Was Inside? and Open Sesame!

These achievements deal with treasure chests. The first treasure chest you will encounter is on stage 4 of Story Mode and is also the easiest to grind if you really want to get this achievement out the way. These achievements will unlock without grinding if you are pursing the 120 star and 40 red crystal star achievements. Failing to unlock 3 chests will give you the one achievement and unlocking 10 chests will give you the other. Failing to unlock chests is easy - you can just guess using consonants. Successfully unlocking chests can be aided with the following:
  • Using the 'Guessing' book will give you more guesses at treasure chests.
  • Using the 'Easier Guessing' book will remove choices.
  • If you are really struggling, you can use a hangman solver.

Prevention

For this achievement you will need to use 25 plague tiles. I found that the snake-looking monsters are more likely to use plague but the bosses and mini-bosses can use plague as well. This achievement will most likely happen without grinding.
Endless mode
These are achievements that you can only get from Endless Mode. Other achievements can be attempted or grinded in Story or Endless mode.

PLEASE NOTE
An important note here is that you must die for some of the stats to be picked up by the game. I made the mistake of quitting instead of dying to end Endless Mode because I was in a hurry and it didn't record some of the stats for those runs. I'm not sure if it was just a bug on my game but better to be safe than sorry.

Practice Makes Perfect

You need to play 10 games of Endless Mode. You need to die in order for the game to pick up a run of Endless Mode.

Repeat Customer

You need to purchase 100 items from the merchant. This will come naturally as you grind for the 750 words achievement. All the items will increase in price as you purchase them but you should get 100 items in no time. The prices and your coins will reset after each run.

Alphabet Soup

Use 2500 letters in Endless Mode. These letters will also count towards your game total and will help you get the achievement for 5000 letters.

Coin Collector

You will need to collect 2000 coins in Endless Mode. Buy all you can because these coins disappear at the end of a run and there is an achievement for buying 100 items.

Endless Wordsmith

You will need to spell 750 words in Endless Mode. Words made in Endless Mode count towards the game total as well so they can help you get the 2500 word achievement.

Word Wizard

You need to spell 60 words on a single run of Endless Mode. Endless Mode gets very difficult very quickly but 60 words is not impossible to get. It helps when mini-boss effects and tile crystals are in your favour. Good luck!

I Can Do This All Day

You need to kill 10 monsters in Endless Mode. You need to make sure you die to end the round or the stats will not be recorded.

Endless Monster Masher

You need to kill 100 monsters in Endless Mode. These will also count towards the game total and help will you get your 250 monster achievement.

Thanks for the hangman solver tip, can't believe I didn't think of that. Just waited for a long word where I guessed a few letters correctly at the start then managed to get the achievement :)

Awesome writeup and great tips! I just started with the game and I will just play it for now. But I´m sure I´ll come back to your guide later to unlock some of those achievements I don´t get during the normal play though :steamhappy:
