Introduction
While playing the game you may have noticed an area of the HUD that mentions “cells”. The cells it refers to are a secret item that are hidden in some stages of the game. There is at most one cell in a stage, but not every stage has a cell. The cells section in the HUD will flash when you are near a cell, as well as displaying each cell you have collected.

Collecting the cells is necessary for maxing out the score on each stage. In addition, each cell you collect will allow you to open a door in the fifth stage of the episode, giving you access to some powerful weapons. Walking up to a door will automatically open it and consume a cell. The weapons can come in handy when facing the episode’s boss, especially on the higher difficulties.

This guide will show how to get all the cells in each episode, as well as showing what you get for obtaining them.
Episode 1: Escape
There is only one cell in this episode. The cell is in the fourth stage.

1-4

Drop down behind some crates on the far left of the room.

This will take you through a false floor and into a room with a cell. Unfortunately, there is a barrier blocking the way.

To deactivate it, destroy the generator near the top right (you need to destroy it to finish the stage anyway).

You can then return to the room and grab your first cell.

1-5

Collecting this episode's single cell will give you access to some Laser ammo.

Episode 2: Open Rebellion
This episode has a couple of cells, in the second and fourth stages.

2-2

There’s a false floor to the left of some crates on the bottom right portion of the stage.

Drop though the floor to access a secret room with a lift.

Ride the lift all the way up to the roof of the building.

From there just jump up and walk right a bit to make your way to the area with the cell.

2-4

The cell in this stage is inside the machine that flies around above ground, shooting lasers down at you. You can actually destroy it by shooting it enough, but it’s much easier to just crush it.

To do this, make your way to the end of the stage. Above the exit door there is an area with some sort of crushing device. Get the machine to fly into the crusher, then walk up to the control panel.

Once the cell is revealed, you can jump into the crusher to grab it. Don’t worry, it’s safe.

2-5

The cells for this episode give you access to some Mega and Laser ammo.

Episode 3: Son of Mars
There are three cells in this chapter. They are in the second, third and fourth stages.

3-2

Near the middle of the stage you will encounter a suspicious hole in the ceiling. The secret to going up through it is directly below the hole.

Enter a gap in the area below to fall through a false floor…

…And into a small space with a lift.

Ride the lift all the way to the top to reach the spike-covered room which contains the cell.

Just make a couple of dangerous jumps and the cell is yours.

3-3

Near the start of the stage you will encounter a pit with spikes on the side.

Drop down it.

Once you reach the bottom, head to the left.

This will lead you through a false floor and into the room with the cell.

3-4

In roughly the middle of the stage there is a room with an entrance blocked by a barrier. Head to the right side of that room to destroy the generator and lower the barrier.

Then head back around to the left side to enter the room.

Collect the cell, but be prepared to fight!

When you get the cell the door will lock behind you, forcing you to fight a wave of enemies.

Okay, two waves of enemies.

Okay, two waves of enemies and a mini-boss. The mini-boss will constantly move towards you. To defeat it, just shoot it in the eye until it moves back. Keep repeating this, being wary of the fact it can come from the left or right, and can flip itself so the eye is on the bottom or the top.

After you have shot it enough it will be destroyed and the door will open.

3-5

For your efforts you’re rewarded with some Laser ammo, some Mega ammo…

…And some Chaos ammo!

Episode 4: Inner Struggle
There are four cells in this episode. Each of the first four stages is home to one.

4-1

Progress through the stage until you reach the railgun at the end.

Instead of going below it, go on top of it.

Climb your way up through a few false floors and walls. It should hopefully be simple to figure out which ones are false.

Then you can grab the cell at the top.

4-2

The cell in this stage is actually just to the left of where you start. Unfortunately, there’s a wall in the way.

Progress through the stage a bit and take the upper path. You will encounter some destructible blocks inside a small hole.

Fire a precise shot into the hole to hit the destructible blocks and cause a chain reaction which will remove the wall from earlier.

Return to the start of the stage where the wall is now gone.

From there you can make your way to the cell.

4-3

Near the upper middle part of the stage you will encounter a hole in the ceiling.

Of course, it’s blocked.

Continue on to the upper left portion of the stage, where you will find another blocked hole in the ceiling. Fortunately, you can unblock this one by shooting the destructible blocks.

Jump up through this hole and make your way to end of the path.

When you reach the end of the path, drop through the false floor on the very right.

Now you can duck down and shoot the blocks which were obstructing the first hole.

Return to the first ceiling hole and jump up through it.

Just continue from there until you reach the cell.

4-4

After you fight the lava mini-boss and before the end of the stage you will enter a large cavern.

Simply climb the platforms to the top.

At the top of the cavern you will find the final cell.

4-5

There are a lot of cells in the chapter, but the effort to get them is worth it.

Collect a couple and you get infinite Mega. Collect all four, and you get infinite Chaos! This is the only place in the game where you can get infinite versions of either of these, so savour it.
