Springlock's Medic Guide for F2P's
By ogre confrontation
This guide is gonna (attempt) to help you on maining the insane doctor from Germany, the Medic. Being a former Medic Main, I'd say I know a bit or two about this class. Special shoutout to Healmore, he was one of the first to read this guide, and he tells me that he learned a lot from it and advertised it on his video, here is his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9Q3yvRdQiiK6crJTs9pUqg . Thanks, pallie! Alright, lets begin...

Why you should play medic
We all know that medic is hands down one of the weakest of the mercs, yet he plays such an important role due to his medigun which can heal teammates who need help. "But why play as him if you could just play snoypah or shpee or pierow or solediur and get easy kills?", you may ask. Well, you know how your team is too lazy to find a health pack and just spam the "e" button? Yeah well, they are spamming it for a reason . Besides, why walk all the way to a health kit when you could have a walking, talking, infinite health kit who will constantly heal you (or in a simpler term, "medic"). Anyways, let's get to the basics of this man of medicine.

Basics of Healing your Teammates
Ok, so first, let's talk about who to heal and when. Now, your gonna want to make sure you know your healing priorities. You must check for these things from healing targets.

1. Are they at low health
2. Are they close by
3. Are they not a spy (spycheck them)
4. Are they actively doing something
5. Will they let you have the health kits

If all of these are true, then congrats, you've found a worthy pocket. Make sure to heal him constantly until he dies, then find another, then rinse and repeat until you win the round. If someone else really needs you, then don't be a ♥♥♥♥ and heal them, while keeping your priorities in mind. Remember, if you die, blame it on your pocket (silently) and shrug it off. Don't be afraid to ask for another medic's help (if there even is another). Use your ubercharge when you feel the time is right.

CHOOSE YOUR WEAPON(s)
When playing medic, you want to know as much about his weapons as possible, so I will talk about medic's many items to help you choose your loadout.

Primaries:
Syringe Gun: Nothing special, good for short-medium range.
Blutsaugher: 3 health points on hit, less health regeneration, good for short-medium range.
Crusader's Crossbow: Heals teammate when shooting him, way smaller clip, No headshots?(cuz when I think medic, I think headshots), good for only long range.
Overdose:(On equip): Speed boost when uber is 100%, 10% less damage, short to medium range, is bad.

Secondaries: (Note: All mediguns allow you to travel the same speed as your pocket, afterburn slows heal rate)
Medigun: nothing special, ubercharge makes you invincible for 8 seconds.
Kritzkreig: faster healing rate, ubercharge makes your pocket deal crits for 8 seconds, taunting heals you.
Quickfix: +10% heal rate, less overheal, ubercharge rapidly heals you and your pocket.
Vaccinater: normal uber rate, press r to change resistance from bullets to explosives to fire, uber cut into four mini ubers, holding down m2 makes you use all your mini ubers, ubercharge makes you invincible to whatever you selected for 2 seconds (8 if you hold m2 with all bars filled).

Melees:
Bonesaw: nothing special, many reskins
Ubersaw: On hit, grants more uber for ubercharge, 20% slower attack speed.
Solemn Vow: Makes you able to see the health of enemies, 10% slower swing speed.
Amputater: (On equip): More health regeneration, taunting heals everyone around you, 20% damage penalty.
Vita-saw: When you die, you get to keep up to 20% of your uber, -10 max health on user.
MVM and how to kill dem robots as medic
Now mvm can be very tricky for some people, so I'm gonna tell you your priorities when upgrading.

1. Upgrade healing mastery
2. Upgrade shield
3. Upgrade mad milk syringes
4. Upgrade canteen specialist and get some canteens
5. Upgrade health regeneration

Please note that these are not in order, but these are some things that you must always keep in mind when playing as medic in mvm
Keep a distance
Your medigun beam is a lot longer than you probably think. It's always important to keep a distance from your pocket so that you don't take as much damage, just let your pocket take all the damage for you, this is also good for your uber, since the charge rate is quicker when your pocket is taking damage.
Battle Medic?
So you may be asking about this so called "battle medic" where you idiotically run up to people with way higher health and or firepower than you and hope for the best. Well, If you want to do this, then I'm not stopping you. I feel that the best loadout for this stupid strategy is:
Blutsaugher
(Any medigun)
Übersaw
These are what you do not want to use as a battle medic, ever:
Vitasaw
Overdose
Amputater

P.s. Shout out to "[CoS] Tacos" for suggesting this.
NEW SECTION: BOT ATTACKS!
Hi guys! I know it's been a while since this was posted, but I thought this would be a necessary edit.

As a lot of you are already aware, tf2 has been plagued with aimbots for the last couple of months (as of June 2020, at least), and that means your role as a Medic is more vital than ever before, and that's saying something.

Remember when I mentioned the secondary called the "Vaccinator"? Well uh yeah,

MAKE SURE YOU USE IT WHEN YOU SEE AN OBVIOUS BOT ON THE ENEMY TEAM

And if there's a bot on your team...

Do NOT heal them!

Your best bet against an aimbot is to pocket an ally Sniper (granted they aren't doing the same). Obviously experienced Heavys can also work as a pocket against these things.

Learn how to chain your mini-ubers with the Vaccinator by experimenting with duration and build times, and make sure you keep it on bullet resistance until the bot is confirmed dead (switch it back on when he respawns).

For more info on bots, check out the first section of this guide I also made (more recently)!

Conclusion
Well folks, I hope I educated you enough to understand everything there is to know about maining medic, I'll be seeing you on the battlefield, as a dead corpse. Good luck! (If you found this guide useful, consider liking it)

As a medic, I worry more about those soldiers, pyros and demomen more than spies and snipers because as a medic, you really need to be extremely aware of your surroundings. I admit, the Ubersaw saved me ALOT of times before. I ran across the enemy team which consists of soldier, demoman, heavy, scout and their medic around the corner. I didnt have much time to run so I decided to circle strafe the heavy to land 2 ubersaw shots and just "Pop it, dont drop it" if you know what I mean. Anyways, good guide for players who are new to the game. "Keep a distance" part is MOST usefull for new players because I see alot and I mean ALOT of medics sticking their mediguns right up their patient's ass.

Well... the uber can save you from spies, snipers or anything that could kill you in one shot, unless you re using the kritskreig

If your TRULY a battle medic (which is really hated. unless your in pubs which is ok) the Ubersaw isnt actually a good plan unless your planning an Uberchain. I think the bonesaw is a good choice if your just going to go on a killing spree without worrying about Uber too much. but hey, if you like the Ubersaw as battle medic, I aint stopping you. c:

noice :) but I'm a battlemedic who heals his team too but likes running at ppl with 40 syringes ready to hit something, what's the best loadout for that?
