To be frank with you, I haven't had any audio errors whatsoever, but I've been playing this game and finished on my old computer with Win 7 (64 bit) installed.
I was looking into this audio problem and haven't really found any solution on the internet. Dead ends mostly.
I can only guess, but it might help, if you set the game to start as an administrator, from the game's folder and set it to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode, then create and add a shortcut to your Windows Desktop with the game's executable. Start the game from there.
It helped me once or twice with older games, when I've had that problem on my Windows 10 PC.
I hope it helps, mate.
Faithfully Yours, Tom from Hungary
Thank you for your comment.
I switched from Windows 7 to a dual load win 8.1/win 10 configuration about 2 years ago, and it runs for me on both win 8.1 and win 10.
There is a good little comment section that might be help of you, mate.

This second one is from GoG, but it tells people to install Visual C++ software :

I hope, some of the suggestions help you, since it is not the most stable port on Steam.
Keep on trying and I think you'll be able to play it in no time.
