Introduction
Choice of character was strictly personal, because in most aRPG games I was attracted to play with a character based largely on magic/elements of nature.
I chose to realize this tutorial mainly to help other players to achieve a similar build and enjoy its gameplay (a fairly simplistic, and why not attractive).
This build mainly based on cold/frostburn/lightning/electrocute damage, but I add some aether/fire damage thanks to a skill that provides considerable damage(you will see what it is on the way).
Skill description
The main damage is provided by: "Trozan's Sky Shard".
The secondary damage is provided by: "Panetti's replicating Missile" to keep mobs far away from us.
Both skills will be filled by "Devastation" - a skill that mainly rely on aether/fire damage.
To survive I chose to use these skills :
  • "Mirror of Ereoctes" - a skill that will help you be immune for a short period to damage received from enemies, especially elites.
  • "Maiven's Sphere of Protection" - other skill that helps you to reduce damage from enemies.
  • "Nullification" - a skill that help you against bosses/elites
Devotion
In this section I add a link that will direct you to the "Grim Calculator", an online site that offers the possibility to save the build that you use, with skill points/devotion points distributed, thus facilitating achievement of the desired build.
https://www.grimtools.com/calc/b28G6v7N

The order of Constellations used in making the build are :
1. Lion
2. Quill
3. Tortoise
4. Spider
5. Oklaine's Lantern
6. Owl
7. Harvestman's Scythe/Tsunami
8. Crab
9. Leviathan
10. Scales of Ulcama
11. Targo the Builder

Constellations used in making the build and their numbering was done exactly in the order that I have completed/distributed points of the shrines except constellation "Harvestman's Scythe"(where first I choose other constellation - I will explain down the steps).
To choose "Harvestman's Scythe" constellation I should firstly invest points into "Tsunami". In other words at the beginning of the build after I chose constellation "Oklaine's Lantern", I must invest points in completing the constellation "Tsunami", because to be able to choose constellation "Harvestman's Scythe" I need 5 blue points(obtained from completing constellation "Tsunami"). Then, when I discover more shrines and I have enough points where I can share, I will complete the constellation "Harvestman's Scythe". After completing it I can give up points invested in the constellation "Tsunami" (constellation which I considered usable until reaching level 60) and with staying the 5 points from the constellation "Tsunami", I can distribute in the constellation "Crab"(all 5 points), thus having the opportunity to open up the opportunity to put points in the constellation "Leviathan"(2 points left). Important to note is that although redistribute 5 points from the "Tsunami" constellation in other constellations, constellation "Harvestman's Scythe" remains active because the realization of the entire constellations, the reward I get was 3 blue points and gathered with those obtained from completing "Tortoise" constellation blue get 6 points, more than necessary to preserve the constellation "Harvestman's Scythe"(requiring five blue points) assets.
In the following lines I justify the choice of constellations and their utilitazation in gameplay.
I choose for survival/health : Lion & Tortoise.
Less damage from Aether/Chaos/Elemental : Crab.
Both survival(life%, health regeneration) and damage : Scales of Ulcama & Oklaine's Lantern.
To create my strictly cold/frostburn build I decided to go with Leviathan constellation at the expense constellation: Amatok the Spirit of Winter(which can be reached more easily, meaning using points from shrines). Honestly early in the game I was attracted by Leviathan constellation and tried to distribute points from the shrines to manage to get to the constellation without losing too many points. My points distribution it's enough to complete all the constellations used in making the build, except "Scales of Ulcama" (choosing 50% in damage and 50% in life%) from it and "Targo the Builder" (choosing only % to healh and resistances).
With the new shrines introduced in the Ashes of Malmouth expansion you can chose to complete "Scales of Ulcama" or "Targo the Builder"(for more defense - after you put points in it you can use one of those shields : Meat Shield or Will of the Living but you will lose the way to play with Devastation skill because that skill require other offhand items to activate it).
Equipment
To obtain good items was complicated in the 1.0.0.1 version(in my view) because in the 150 hours played, I find only 5 Legendary items(3 for other chars and 1 duplicate item). After the introduction of 1.0.0.2 patch the game begin to be more easy glad to "Treasure Troves" because you have a very high chance of dropping a rare crafting material(Ancient Heart, Blood of Ch'thon, Tainted Brain Matter & Manticore Eyes), scaling with difficulty, and have a high chance of dropping Blueprints. With this change I was able to farm in a easy way rare materials(+1000 each) and use them in Tyran's Hold dungeon at the Celestial Blacksmith from there in exchange of legendary items. In this way I play over 100 hours to farm those rare materials and was lucky to find over 90% of the items needed to complete this build(I know that was boring..but the reward was awesome). Seems that the introduction of Crucible was the best way to help new players(and old one I think) to farm in an easy way iron(gold), rare materials & legendary/mythical items.

Distribution points will be Physque 90%/Spirit 10%.
At the moment I put the following points:
Physique 93
Cunning 0
13 Spirit

Head - Prismatic Diamond
Chest - Ancient Armor Plate(def) or Chains of Oleron(off)
Bracers - Spellwoven Threads
Belt - Antivenom Salve
Pants - Ancient Armor Plate
Boots - Mark of Mogdrogen
Amulet - Arcane Lens
Ring - Corpse Dust x2(def) or Ectoplasm x2(energy)
Ring - Corpse Dust x2(def) or Ectoplasm x2(energy)
Medal - Attuned Lodestone
Shoulder - Mutated Scales
Main Hand - Shard of Beronath
Off Hand - Silvercore Bolts

Those materials that are put in items can be changed because in the new expansions of the game was introduced more powerful materials(I will update the guide when I find all blueprints for them).

I hope this build will be usefull for you, which from my point of view is interesting and the way to play it's quite attractive and easy! I just finish Ultimate difficulty for Base Game(here 0 deaths in Ultimate) and also for Ashes of Malmouth(here die once in Ultimate). I play Steps of Torment & Bastion of Chaos with this build and I can say it's viable to farm with it, but not in a fastest way. About Crucible I managed to finish the 3nd difficulty(Gladiator). In rifts I was able to do Rift 100 in Normal Difficulty(farming those 5 pillons) and 75+ in Elite Difficulty. In Ultimate Difficulty I play till 25th Rift only for the achievewments, I think can do at least till 40th Rift. I start to play it again for achievement complection, so I will update the section with materials soon(I want to make 75% in pierce ressistances, to max all those ressistances). Enjoy playing this masterpiece game and feel free to ask me all you want to know related to this guide or something else about Grim Dawn!

Sorry for my english language...

Because I farm more time in the past I can affrod to gamble at the NPC for all Legenday items. I think I have 90% from Legendary items from the game. Maybe the new ones from 2nd expansion arent in my stashes because I forgot to gamble for them.. The game its great. But after I finish the Ultimate difficulty and Im not a fan of rifts/crucible the build has an end in my opinion. I dont like to start a new one.. now Im stick with Path of Exile.(and with new content that this game added every 3 months make me play it more). Anyway good luck with your build and enjoy this game. Is one of the best in this genre, maybe the best. Hope for a 2nd game from the developer.

I still play it. I already beat Ultimate with this build with 0 deaths. I complete everything in the main story/secondary stuff - in normal, elite and also in Ultimate. The single things that I need to do is the 2nd secret quest and Crucible.Rifts(for achievements). About legendaries.. I think all legendary items that I have in mythical version(more of them with best in slot stats) are more than enough to keep playing the game in Ultimate. Also I need to invest in the new materials that appear in the both expansions because I dont farm for blueprints to have all materials. Some of them can be an upgrade to defense(ressist) and alos in offensive way.

I chose to invest in Phys because some of weapons/armours need Phys as base. Also because I want more life. The build have more than enough spirit.. so I dont need spirit in my opinion. The 1st skill is Trozan for AoE and big damage. The rest are defensives skills. The build has enough damage and also defense(because most of the time its a hit & run). I die only 26 times.. and more than 15 was at the begining of the game, when I want to beat fast mobs(like in Diablo 3) but the game was harder..and till I get it and learn the game mechanic/gameplay, I need to die.

I know this is a very old post, but i don't get why you would put all your stat points into physique, and almost nothing into spirit, as a caster build? that makes no sense to me. I am rolling devastation arcanist as main, you have the survivabilty from your 3 skills, and with some mobility (glyphs) and lots of run speed you can afford to be a glass cannon. All those stat points in physique is a massive waste imo :)
hope you come back to the game bro there are a lot of awesome legendarys for this build now !

You will like it. I hope someday I will return to Grim Dawn to make this build it more powerful.. but now I'm in love with Path of Exile.. I play the last expansion of Grim Dawn and its great but not so long. I finish it in Normal and Elite. Soon or later I will try to beat it in Ultimate. The build is my first one and never know that will be one of the best that I made. Its easy to play, not immortal like other builds, but make me to remember the old school aRPG(Sacred and Sacred 2 - for me the best in genre). Have a good amount of damage but you need to hit and run every time when you encounter Nemesis or other good bosses. Not have entire ressistances capped(pierce one is the lower - and one Nemesis has a lot of that damage..but I manage to kill him at Normal and Elite). All in one I hope you will enjoy the build. I hope to edit it with new materials that gives new ressistances/stats. Take care and have fun with this wonderful game(Hope in Grim Dawn 2)!

No apology needed for your English--it's better than most native speakers I know. I'm always tempted to play a melee character, but I will have to give this a try. Cheers. :steamhappy:
