Some Cheats & Tweaks
By OniFire
I couldn't find any legit free trainers for the latest version of Alpha ProtocoI, although I did test two; one simply
crashed the game and the other contained malware. However, I've found some cool .ini tweaks taken from
various sources that can be used to make the game more fun/playable if you're only interested in the story because
let's face it ...

... Combat in this game sucks.

Hellooo
Hi, I would just like to point out that I'm definitely not the first to discover these ini cheats and tweaks... The game has been out for a very long time. But, I had to read through a lot of crappy posts around different forums and such boring things to find some of this good stuff and thought it would be nice to put it all in one place here on Steam for anyone that is interested. Also, it's nice to have some easy cheats and tweaks like these readily available when there's no good trainers out there that are both free and don't contain viruses! Really...Paying for cheats? Is that even a thing? GTFO! These cheats and tweaks are free as they should be and just as good as any trainer. Well, for me anyway and hopefully, for you too.

The two .ini tweaks that I've currently listed on the guide is not much but they're probably the best ones anyway. If you have any problems or have anything to add just let me know and I will add it...
1. Invisibility
Find the DefaultGame .ini

This is located in steamapps > common > Alpha Protocol > APGame > Config

Go to,

[APGame.APPawn_Player]

The fourth line down will say

PlayerSneakingEnemyVisionPercent=0.5f

Change to,

PlayerSneakingEnemyVisionPercent=0.0f

This will make the enemy AI unable to see you whilst you're sneaking, even if they're looking
in your direction. So you're almost invisible whilst sneaking... Undetectable, unless you fire a
weapon or throw a grenade, of course. If you make noise or do something that makes the enemy
suspicious, they will investigate but as long as they're not completely alerted to your presence though, you'll remain invisible to them. However, you can't become "invisible" once in combat.

Also, if you touch an enemy (if they walk into you) or you push your luck you'll be caught.
2. Give AP
Find the DefaultLevelChart .ini

This is located in steamapps > common > Alpha Protocol > APGame > Config

Make changes as seen below,

[APGame.APLevelChart]
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=0,APGained=30,SkillCap=4,SpecialSkillCap=4)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=1500,APGained=200,SkillCap=5,SpecialSkillCap=7)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=3250,APGained=0,SkillCap=5,SpecialSkillCap=7)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=5000,APGained=0,SkillCap=5,SpecialSkillCap=7)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=7000,APGained=0,SkillCap=7,SpecialSkillCap=10)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=9000,APGained=0,SkillCap=7,SpecialSkillCap=10)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=11000,APGained=0,SkillCap=7,SpecialSkillCap=10)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=13000,APGained=0,SkillCap=7,SpecialSkillCap=10)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=15250,APGained=0,SkillCap=7,SpecialSkillCap=10)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=17500,APGained=0,SkillCap=9,SpecialSkillCap=13)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=19750,APGained=0,SkillCap=9,SpecialSkillCap=13)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=22000,APGained=0,SkillCap=9,SpecialSkillCap=13)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=24500,APGained=0,SkillCap=9,SpecialSkillCap=13)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=27000,APGained=0,SkillCap=9,SpecialSkillCap=13)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=29500,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=32000,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=34750,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=37500,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=40250,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=43000,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)
LevelChart=(MinXPNeeded=46000,APGained=0,SkillCap=10,SpecialSkillCap=15)

The above changes will grant you 200 AP at [LVL 1] which should be enough to max your skills right off the bat in addition to the 30 AP you start with if you play as anything other than recruit/veteran. However, you may wish to edit that and change the APGained=30 to APGained=0 so you only get the 200 AP at [LVL 1] (AP affects difficulty, see below). If you find yourself needing more AP than that, then you can simply increase the amount you gain just a little bit more by changing the values to something like, e.g. 220. [LVL 0] AP (the first line that says APGained=30) doesn't apply to recruits, so you'll only have 200AP. [WARNING] I have heard that overall difficulty is determined by how much AP you have, so if you give yourself 3000 AP at [LVL 1] the difficulty will sky rocket; hacking and lockpicking will most likely be near impossible if you do this. Therefore, I suggest trying 200 AP and if that works out, you can increase it as much as you like but remember 200/230 is what you would normally have at [LVL 20] end game, so each AP you add to the base 200 will increase the difficulty but only slightly, so don't go too OTT and you'll be fine (try 250 AP). You should allocate your AP to the appropriate skills you're planning on using as soon as you get to [LVL 1] (e.g. pistols and stealth for stealth runs) as this will bring some balance to the difficulty and put you on a level playing field with the enemy AI and hacking mini games obviously. This will only work to a limited extent though as the game assumes you will stop earning AP at some point (which normally at LVL 20 you would have 200/230 overall) so giving yourself e.g. 3000 will only benefit the enemy in the long run, i.e. will make them more powerful than you. Regardless, you can experiment around with those values for yourself and determine what best suits your style.

If you're wondering what the MinXPNeeded= means, that is how much XP you need to get to the next rank. If you change them all to MinXPNeeded=0 then you will automatically achieve [LVL 20]. Feel free to change these to whatever you want but for some reason doing this makes the enemies kill you in 1-2 hits so WATCH OUT! If you want my advice, just leave them alone. It's not worth it when you have all that AP to play around with and there's little point in the levels besides AP.

Thank You

Ungodly late, but it seems possible to fine tune the AI's difficulty scaling via DefaultAIClasses.ini
However, there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the minigamer timers via .ini so be careful.

Is there any way to get the unique Omin Deng shotgun using cheats?

@CrackSpider Yeah I believe that's exactly what it does. :steamhappy:

will lowering the value of "PlayerSneakingEnemyVisionPercent=0.Xf"
decrease enemy detection distance?

One of the things I'm trying out is the initial AP gained from 30 to 60. Then for the first 10 levels, to have the APGained=20, then the last 10 levels to be the normal APGained=10. Should be a nice balance...

Still, if you want to keep the game's dynamic scaling more in check so that you're not at 'end game' difficulty right off the bat, but still want to be able to experiment with a wider access of skills, then just double the AP gained per level. Each level can have it's AP amount adjusted independently. So just change the 'APGained=10' that is the game's default to 'APGained=20' to double your skill rate gain. You will still start off with lower skills (unless you modify your starting skill pool), but you'll just ramp up quicker.
