One Method of Creating a Spiral Staircase
By Princess Goddammit
This guide will show how I created a spiral staircase. There are probably other ways to do it, but this one worked well for me. It is very simple and can be made any length or out of any material you desire.

Step 1
Items needed:
A stack of wooden planks and a stack of wooden beams of whatever texture you like. Ths is best done in creative mode so you do not end up wasting your resources if you muck it up.

A can of beer.
_____________________________________________________________
Step one

Rez a wooden cube about half the size of a standard stone block. It does not have to be any exact size for the purposes of this demonstration, I just chose that randomly.

Step two
Rez another identical cube on top of the first one.

Step three
Open the console (default ~ key) and enter setr 5. This will set the rotation to 5 degree increments.

Step four
Rotate the second cube 5 degrees to the left (one keypress of the left arrow key). Place the second cube with the F key. Repeat this process, rotating each cube 5 degrees to the left. If you followed the instructions correctly, you should end up with a nice spiral. You can make your spiral as tall or as short as you like, depending upon how tall you want your staircase.

Step five
Rez a plank about 2' to 3' feet long (approx.). Place the plank against the flat side of the bottom cube and place it.

Step six
Rez another plank, rotate it 5 degrees to the left and place it against the flat side of the second cube, as shown below.

Step seven
Continue rezzing, rotating, and placing planks all the way up your spiral. If all goes well, you should end up with a nice spiral staircase. You can experiment with different sizes and rotation numbers which will either tighten, or loosen the spiral. Add a railing, ornamentation, or whatever you choose. Now go have a beer.

Note.: Ignore the signs in the photos. I know they do not match the step numbers. It happens.

Yep. Tried it. Result: one spiral staircase. Looks good.

I like to rebuild old cabins. Added a 2nd story to the last one I did. I wanted to be able to exit the 2nd story in the back of the building but was limited regarding space. The cabin is up against a steep hill. I can now exit the 2nd story out the back of building via a spiral staircase.

Thank you for this. :lunar2019grinningpig:

Thank you for taking the time to make the guide. I found it really helpful and easy, once you get used to using the console commands, r shift and ctrl.

Thanks for the guide! I read this awhile ago and have made many staircases using this method since.

Okay. I will add to this guide with a section about how I make my railings and probably a part on circular buildings too.
