Sure, playing alone on normal and hard is very feasible and fun, but jumping up to suicidal or HoE is going to be nothing but torture.
There are unavoidable issues with solo-ing these difficulties: Some maps just suck. Some classes just suck when they're on there own, especially when they're under leveled. Some objectives will just suck. Some of your class-specific guns, whether its early game or late game, will just suck.(I'm looking at you, medic. I know its not your fault but still.)
Point is, the difficulty curve sky-rockets once you enter these difficulties. Very experienced players could probably handle suicidal on most maps, but lets just say there's a reason a select few people make videos titled "Paris HoE Solo Survivalist".
Between waves try and heal each other to make sure everyone gets healed up, everyone gets more xp and dosh aswell.
Bashing is really useful (especially on hard) for decapping small trash zeds. On hard you can insta decap some zeds with a well aimed bash.
Try and jump before getting hit by big zeds, as you can get knocked back really far, helping you to escape.
