How to Play
Since this is either really easy to everyone else, or perhaps I can't Google to save myself to find a guide, I thought I'd write one. There will be spoilers, of course.

GETTING TO THE END OF THE GAME:

All you need to do is make an Excellent fruit from each of the the five plants: Kidney, Heart, Stomach, Liver and Colon. It's a little bit more complicated than that, but it's close enough.

Each time the Woman in Black comes to take your Excellent Fruit it will further the story until the ending of the main story.

The normal way that you make an Excellent Fruit from each plant is to upgrade it. You do this by continuing to water it and then harvest it when the crop is ripe. It will take some time to do this; for me it was a few days while playing fairly lengthy hours.

The Excellent Heart is the most difficult fruit to produce and stumps most people; many quit because of this. I made this guide to steer other people through the interim until this issue is fixed.

The only way I've found to get an Excellent Heart is through a Sap intervention. I'm not even sure of what I had at the time but I think I had a good crop of hearts (max level at the time) and then clicked a Sap of some tree. It seems to get harder the further in the game you go and the higher your Heart tree level.

Sap effects
courtesy of Sullivayne:

Sap effects-
  • Kidney- Drains water to grow new fruit.
  • Heart- Drains water to ripen the fruit.
  • Stomach- Grows all possible new fruit for free.
  • Liver- Ripens all fruit to tree's max for free.
  • Colon- Grows all new fruit and then ripens them for free

What to upgrade:
At the start, you don't have any option to buy animals but after a bit of progress you will be able to buy a frog; do so when you can afford it as buying animals is the only purpose of your money in this game. What your little friend does is help to fill your watering can (bottom right of the screen) faster. The trouble is, the little blighter won't stay still and do its job so when it strays away you have to click it to make it hop back next to the watering can. You can tell when an animal is not helping out because it will become black with a white outline. Clicking those animals slacking off will get them back to work and may level them up, increasing their efficiency.

Later on, other animals become available to buy for your greenhouse which enhance your productivity in different ways, but not by much.

  • Frogs - Increases the rate at which your watering can fills
  • Moles - Increases fruit production
  • Woodpeckers - Speeds up mincemeat generation
  • Butterflies - Faster fruit ripening
  • Lizards - Faster pickling rates
  • Homunculi - XP generation is quicker

Generally, you will level up your plants and devices as you progress through the game. Picking ripe fruits and using the devices (such as watering can and meat grinder) will speed this up.

Get all your trees and watering can to level 100, then you can tap sap grind the colon plant. When all the previous mentioned things are level 100, colon sap fills all trees with excellent organs, even if the tree is empty. So, just water the colon plant and use the harvest all machine. This isn't for start or mid game, of course. This method will easily get you through the harvest 500 of each excellent plant and through the business man quest chain.

Thanks Sullivayne, great info! :colon_fmn:

One thing to note about trees is that they seem to have both a maximum nutrient value, and their own behaviours. As an example, a level 100 kidney tree can hold 7 Excellent Kidneys, whereas a level 70 kidney tree can only hold 5-6 Excellent Kidneys. In addition, the kidney and heart trees appear to prioritize growing new fruit over ripening existing fruit (though you seem to be able to mitigate the effect if the existing fruit is great), while the colon tree seems to prioritize ripening existing fruit over growing new fruit.

Hope that helps!

Reliable (somewhat) excellent organ production-
Step 1: Grow all organs to great level
Step 2: Water the plant to full
Step 3: Remove 10-70% of the other organs on the tree, with a higher percentage the lower level the tree is.
Step 4: Continue to remove the new fruits as they pop up as quickly as you can.
Step 5: Water the tree
Repeat steps 4/5 until you have your excellent organs. Excellent heart seems to be the most touchy organ, so you may want to level it up more if you are still having trouble. In addition, heart/liver sap can be used to force an excellent fruit, assuming you have few enough fruit on the tree when you use the sap.

Sap effects-
Kidney- Drains water to grow new fruit.
Heart- Drains water to ripen the fruit.
Stomach- Grows all possible new fruit for free.
Liver- Ripens all fruit to tree's max for free.
Colon- Grows all new fruit and then ripens them for free.

Please provide feedback on the different sap actions and I will add and acknowledge your input.
