Since we have a lack of an in-game tutorial, (it's coming I promise) I figure putting this guide together will at least help people out in the time being. There's not too much to the mechanics of crafting, but there is an important distinction between the two types of crafting: crafting from your inventory, and crafting from the crafting bench.

We'll cover that difference, look at how to craft, and end with a full recipe list up-to-date with version 0.1ea.

There are two different way to craft in Samphi: Through your inventory, or through a craftng bench. the menus for these two look very similar and it's very easy to miss the difference. One of my planned jobs is to make the distinction between these two much greater.

Despite having similar interfaces both are used to craft different items



The first crafting interface you'll come across is that in your inventory. If you press [E] you'll toggle your inventory and the right portion of the menu is dedicated to crafting.


This crafting menu is used for common items such as bow, rods and sticks etc. All recipes excluding building materials can be crafted here.



The second crafting interface can be found through left clicking a placed crafting bench. The interface for now is very similar to the inventory, but there's a distinct difference between the two.


The crafting bench can craft everything your inventory can with the addition of building materials. For now that's limited to walls, backing walls, and doors. This will be expanded as the game progresses.

With an understanding of the two different crafting menus in Samphi, let's actually craft some items! I wanted a crafting system that was easy and quick to use, but still felt satisfying.

The crafting bin is where the magic happens. Dump all your ingredients in here and any items you can create and show in the spot below. Order doesn't matter, as long as the right ingredients are in the bin, you can create your item.



You'll notice there are three items shown underneath the crafting bin. These are all the items you can craft with the current materials. To cycle between them use your mouse wheel. The item in the slot is the one currently being crafted.

To increase/decrease quantity use the arrows either side of the item, and click the crafted item to actually create it and add it to your inventory.

Knowing how to craft is useless unless you know some crafting recipes! If you want to work them out yourself then skip this next section. Otherwise, here's a complete crafting list for the game.

It's in alphabetical order so you can easily find whatever item you want the recipe for. Also note that items that have a * beside their name require a crafting bench to create.

That's all their is to it! To summarize:

• Place all ingredients in the crafting bin. Order doesn't matter.
  
• Use your mouse wheel to scroll through possible items.
  
• Use the arrow to increase/decrease craft quantity.
  
• Click the item to actually craft it and add it to your inventory.
  
• Remember to use a crafting bench if you want to create building materials.
