Finding your gameplay style for Surfingers
By LuckyRoot
Hi. I've just reached the score of 500 yesterday, and I thought I'd like to share some tips as to how you can improve your skill in this game. It can be already obvious to some of you, and you might wonder why there's a need for a guide for a casual game in the first place, but I hope it's still helpful for your information nonetheless.

Finger Configurations for Surfingers
If you've played the production team's previous game Timberman, then Surfingers can feel quite difficult in comparison at first. The reason for this is because Timberman's control keys were usually the left and right arrow keys. This made us use two of our right hand fingers, which were the 2nd and the 4th finger. Because we are using two fingers, it was easy to shift between each key. However, Surfingers' control keys are usually the up and down arrow keys. This would likely require us to use our middle finger only. This makes it hard for us to shift between each key compared to how we play Timberman when the game starts to require speedy reactions with double ups and downs in the areas other than the beach section. I feel that if you only use your middle finger to play this game, it's very difficult to get past the 2nd level.

So, how can we improve this? Well, there are two ways.

One is by using your middle finger to press the up arrow key and the 2nd finger to press the down arrow key. This reduces the burden of the middle finger having to do all the work and makes it easier to shift between each key.

The other way, which I've come to use, is by using both of your hands. Remember. There are two more keys beside the arrow keys that you can use, which are the w and s key. So, if there are a set of two keys on each side of your keyboard you can use to play the game, why not divide the burden with both of your hands? You can click the s key with your left hand's middle finger and click the up arrow key with your right hand's middle finger. Or, you can also do the opposite. It will require a bit of practice, but by doing this, it eventually becomes easier to react to the ups and downs in the games with speed. Plus, it's double the fun as you manuever both of your hands^^

Thank you for reading. This was my first guide, but I hope it wasn't too hard to understand. (__)

Holy Shit, that's pretty clever. I was doing it with the second finger and middle finger but with both hands should be easier. Thanks, man.

Definitively a good guide. I managed to reach 400 by using S and ARROW UP (I think it's a lot better than arrow up / arrow down because this keep a good body posture on a desktop), and I realized that using middle fingers works a lot better than index fingers, they have more agility especialy for double taps. TL;DR: Never use a gamepad for this game.

Thank you for reading. That is right. It's just a matter of getting used to. However, the characters with different starting areas can make some difference too. I personally choose characters that start from the snow area since that place is quite bothersome to see, and so I prefer to get it out of the way right from the beginning. But it depends on people I guess:SurfWaves:. Good luck!

Good first guide.

Personally I think it's just a matter of getting used to the game in order to progress.
I found that getting to 100 alone takes quite a bit of time.
Just have to keep playing I guess. :horns:
