Introduction
So, we've all tried unboxing in TF2 before, right? Now, a few of you reading this have probably gone broke by just unboxing. Uh, this is how you don't go broke.
The whole guide
When playing TF2, you could unbox items at literally any time you want, as long as you have $2.49 lying around, or a key in your inventory. Because you are given the option to unbox at any given time, you need to resist the temptation.

So how do you do this?

Easy. Set a certain time in the year, month or week where you will unbox items. I personally unbox only in December or just before a Limited Edition crate goes "stale". I do it in December because I get a lot of money from relatives and friends then, which I can just use to buy keys.

Now, if you get any items over the price of $2.49, you should choose if you are going to sell it or keep it. If you keep it, you can hope to get a duplicate of that item or a better, rarer item to replace it before you sell it. If you sell it, then you instantly make profit.

You also need to consider the TF2 economics (Metal, Keys and USD). Sometimes the prices of these 3 currencies go up and down. Try and sell your items while the price is up for the currency, and buy items when the price is down.

Oh, and keep in mind that USD is a real world currency, so you can use it for real world things.

Uh, that's it.
