Introduction
Hello there fellow Making History player, I am here to show the path to eternal glory in the Diplomacy System in this game. This time with 99% less freedom bombing.
Relationships
So as you've probally gathered your relationship with a country matters, for this guide I'm going to be using Sweden as our example.

So as you see here, I've got a pretty bad relationship with our Swedish friends.

'Uh I don't think this gonna work' Yeah we can bless them with freedom bombs of the Reich.

That is a prime example of not what to do! Only because you have a poor relationship does not mean instant war just to remove somebody who does not like you as much.
Transferring
So lets say I want to boost my relationship with Sweden without giving away vital resources in an aid deal.

We're going to resort to giving away land.
Giving away land can give 2 benefits, first one is the fact you don't have to provide food anymore, this is helpful with lands that provide little to no food but require a lot. Second bonus is that it boosts relationships with countries, the purpose of this guide.

So I'm gonna pick 'Akershus' to give to Sweden, as you see, it is worth 10 power points, keep this in mind.

Now as you see, my relationship has gone up by 10 points after giving 'Akershus', the system for this game is how many power points a piece of territory is worth, that is how much you relationship will go up.

Epilouge
Hope you found my guide helpful in helping your relationship with a certain country. Remember to totally drop bombs of freedom onto the country give the territories in moderation and use it to slowly build up a relation with a certain country.
Now get back out there and dominate the world or something.

I had tried both of those methods on my own time and even combined, and I could still only give a land to a country

@flyingturret208 Hi, its been a while since I've played but I remember that the ways for getting a piece of particular land from a country you have low relations with are either, trading a piece of land that is more valuable for the piece of land you want, or you can try to raise your rep with that country through other methods such as aid deals or fighting against a common enemy in order to gain an alliance.
Hope this helps.

what if we want a particular land from a country we don't want war with but we have poor relations with them?

From what I've seen with granting independence, it ends one of two ways, you give independence and they still have a bad relationship, or they become one of your strongest allies. So its a gamble.
I only used Sweden as an example since I just finished my Invasion of Norway in my game, but invading neutral countries also makes your relationship with other countries go down which can lead to war and more enemies.

Nice guide! This'll definitely help! Although, if it is that bad with a small country, couldn't you theoretically take them over then grant them independence, ensuring a good diplomatic relationship for a time?
