As some of you may know, i wrote a previous guide when Season 2 ranks were first updated; as of today, 23/2/16, there has been some changes. I decided to completely scrap my old guide and create this new one!

I did not create the photo of the ranks, that can be found here[www.rocketleaguegame.com].
I am the original creator of this guide, and any opinions made here are entirely mine.

As Psyonix officially stated, "There are five divisions in each Skill Tier – Division I, II, III, IV, and V, with each representing roughly 20% of the skill range in that tier. You will progress through them sequentially, with Division I being the lowest and Division V the highest. When you’re in Division V, you know you’re close to promotion, and vice versa with Division I."

Everyone is unranked when they start. So don't feel bad if you are too, as we all specifically get placed there.

Prospect 1 is the first rank. This does not mean you are bad, it just means you need to play more.
Prospect 1 is the beginning, this does not mean it is the end.

Here, you just want to work on anything you can.

Prospect 2 is the second rank. Here, you have finally beaten that bottom spot; this means either you have improved, or you're already better than the current rank.

Here, you have beaten prospect 1.

This is a good rank to begin with, as there are players around your rank here, who have just got themselves the game too- when i first started playing (luckily at the start of season 2), everyone round here usually didn't have many hours ingame.

Here, you want to start practicing attacking on the sides, as just using the center will not always work from here on.

Prospect 3 is the third rank.

Here, you have beaten prospect 1, and prospect 2!

You are almost at that star, just keep working; here, you might want to start practising aerial.

Here, you are the fourth rank, and YES! You have hit the first star!

Here, you have beaten prospect 1,2 AND 3!

In order to hit challenger, you should probably work on defending; attacking will not always work.

Challenger 1 is the fifth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect!

If you want to progress here, work on your overall skill- as you will need to be a team player.

Challenger 2 is the sixth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, and the first challenger rank!

Here, you want to work on hitting those important angles, whether that is defending or attacking.

Challenger 3 is the seventh rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, and half of challenger!

If you want to progress here, you need to work on playing 'the walls'.

Challenger Elite is the eighth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, and challenger 1,2, and 3!

To work on getting up here, you need to put some time in, and work overall.

Rising Star is the nineth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, and all of challenger!

To improve here (and from here onwards), you just need to work overall.
It may/will help you greatly finding a team of players you know well.

Shooting star is the tenth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, all of challenger, and rising star!

To improve here, as i said in Rising Star, you will need to work overall.

All-star is the eleventh rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, all of challenger, rising star, and shooting star!

To work here, just continously work on everything- bots on rookie should be a speck of dirt (not that they already were lower).

Superstar is the twelth rank.

Here, you have beaten all of prospect, all of challenger, rising star, shooting star, and All-Star! Impressive!

To improve here, just... keep playing

New rank



Champion is the thirteenth rank; it is the first of 3 new ranks.

As Psyonix said,"Champion (Rank 13/15) contains 0.21% of all current Competitive players"

There is not much i can say about these ranks, as they are new.
I will update this when i know more about the new 3 ranks.

Super Champion is the fourteenth rank; it is the second of 3 new ranks.

As Psyonix said, "Super Champion (Rank 14/15) contains 0.10% of all current Competitive players"

Grand Champion is the last rank; it is the last of 3 new ranks.

As Psyonix said, "Grand Champion (Rank 15/15) contains 0.07% of all current Competitive players."

Psyonix also said "As for players in the Top Division (now “Grand Champion”) who aren’t in the Top 100, we will be displaying your Skill Rating in place of a divisional indicator. All players in Grand Champion will see their Skill Rating both on the playlist screen and on the League Rankings display so they can easily gauge their progress towards breaking into the Top 100."

As far as I am aware (feel free to tell me if this is wrong), this means that instead of the divisions implemented, there is a number instead. This lets them see their progress towards the top 100, as before people at champion had no idea how to get into the top 100.

There is not much i can say about these ranks, as they are new.
I will update this when i know more about the new 3 ranks.
