Pt. 1 - Deleting Local Contents
First of all, you will need to delete the local content.

This is optional, but it is probably a good idea because you might corrupt the game if you don't.

Right-Click on the game in your library, and select "Uninstall"
This will remove (almost, some models and an ini are still there, but they don't matter) every IMSCARED file in Steam's directory. Remember NOT to install IMSCARED back on to your computer yet.
Pt. 2 - Removing the rest of the game
Now, you must not skip this step or this guide will be useless.

Open File Explorer and locate the directory bar. Depending on which version of the game you are playing, you will have to type in a different directory.
For the original 2016 version: "%AppData%/IMSCARED".
For the 2022 remaster: "%LocalAppData%/IMSCARED_new"
Hit Enter and this will take you to the folder for the respective version.

You will be greeted with these files:

hello.png is a blank image.
Leggimiperfavore.txt is a italian translation of the below text file.
Readmeplease.txt is, well, a readme. Looks like Ivan Zanotti is one step ahead of us:

Aww, he's considerate! He told us our lives are valuable.
Anyways, it warns you not to mess with the ini files.
revolver.ini is the file for revolver ammo.
TAKETIME.png is a picture of our good ol' pal, White Face. It's stretched vertically for some reason.
white.ini is an ini file which controls various properties of the game upon startup.
This includes:
  • Setting the room you spawn in
  • Asking for name input
  • Language to play the game in
  • Setting properties of the room
workshop.ini is a file that is (or would) check if you have completed the workshop edition.

For the 2022 version, you will only see two of these files: white.ini, and Readmeplease.txt (It seems that this file is created regardless of your language setting).

Delete ALL of these files.

Pt. 3 - Reinstalling
Good job! Now, let's reinstall IMSCARED!
It is 59 MB on installation, so wait time is about a minute.

Have fun!

Just a heads up, I'm not sure if it's just because I'm on a Windows 11 device now or what, but the files from the appdata are now stored in the local files of the game itself.

The folder has been moved from 'roaming' to the 'Local' folder under the AppData, at least with the playthrough I'd just completed

it should, but I'll have to double check soon. In fact, I should probably clean up this guide while I'm at it.

Here's the question: does this still work after the update?
